A month in the Keys

We had a wonderful stay here. The manatees were a sheer delight and the hot tub was magnificent. I do wish the pool were heated.

IslaMorada winter get away

Chris and Jim were the BEST hosts! We had a wonderful time in Islamorada staying in their home on a canal. House was very clean and well appointed. The outdoor living areas were amazing. We would definitely come back!

Fantastic stay!

We spent a month with our family at this beautiful home. It was immaculately clean and had everything you need (just pack your clothes and a toothbrush). The location is just blocks from a grocery store and several amazing restaurants. It takes only a minute by boat to get to the bay and it is just south of Tavernier Creek for access to the ocean. The owner is great and was very responsive to any questions we had during our stay.

Our 2024 Winter Get-away from the Winter up North!

My husband and I rented this property for the month of February 2024. It was conveniently located near Founder’s Park, Theater of the Sea, several restaurants, grocery stores, businesses and in a very safe and quiet neighborhood. Our daughter and her family visited for several days during our stay and the back of the property was great for entertaining. Although these owners reside on the premises they vacated the property during most of our stay so as to allow us our privacy as we enjoyed our vacation. There is a pool, hot tub and an outdoor dining area as well as a moveable basketball hoop which provided our family many hours of entertainment. This home is situated on a canal giving us the opportunity to fish and enjoy frequent visits from manatees nurse sharks and various marine life. We did have an issue with the dishwasher but we notified the owners of the property and they promptly made an effort to address the problem which was easily resolved. We found these owners to be very friendly and welcoming as we enjoyed our winter get-away!

Great House!

We had a fantastic time at this house and couldn't of been happier with the house, pool, dockage etc... Chris was extremely easy to work with and responded immediately when we had questions. I would recommend this house to all family and friends and we look forward to staying there again next summer.

Fabulous house in great location

Fantastic house both inside and outside. We were a group of 9 family members and we rented the entire home. There was plenty of room for us all. It had everything we needed for our stay and the beds were so comfortable. The outside space was fantastic much bigger than I was expecting with a great pool and lots of fishing in the canal. We were lucky to have a visit most days from a manatee that swam up to us at the dock. I would highly recommend staying here as it was like a home away from home. The owners were great and always there if you needed them.

Where, oh where to begin? Wow, what a fantastic month we had, living like locals and enjoying all of our favorites in the Keys as well as adding some new favorites. This house was the perfect place to call “home” though all of the relaxing days and busy days, sunny days and rainy days, they were all PERFECT from this amazing spot. Having stayed in a number of different accommodations over the last 8 years, and the same one for the past 5, I was nervous to stay somewhere new, as you never really know what you will get in the sandy, salty Keys, but as soon as we pulled up, and then as we walked inside, I was THRILLED with our choice, and knew I’d be very sad when we had to leave in a month. Everything is just lovely, very well kept and nicely decorated both inside and out. There are gorgeous potted plants everywhere outside, no visible corner has been left unattended...it feels like a tropical paradise! The inside is very clean and has everything you could possibly need...EVERYTHING! I was able to cook meals, bake a cake, make smoothies, bake cookies, every bit of cookware is there, along with plenty of linens, towels (bring your own pool towels) and even paper goods to get you off to a good start. The pool provided a very welcome place to take a dip after a hot day on the boat, and the hot tub was just the thing for relaxing under the stars! The neighborhood (street) is very quiet and largely unoccupied, so we had the place to ourselves on both sides, with only a few very respectful neighbors down the canal. We rarely saw anyone else, truthfully. The marina directly across the street is very clean and very nice, so no worries about being right across the street from a business. If you’re bringing a boat, the dock is easy to navigate, access to the bay is immediate, and the ocean is only minutes away through Tavernier Creek where there is gas (and a cute little Cuban restaurant!) We absolutely loved tubing in the bay, sunset cruises right out our backdoor, snorkeling at Alligator Reef and Hens & Chickens...all were an easy ride and we just couldn’t get enough! The laundry hut outside is even cute, and it has new appliances, so we were able to bring just a week of clothing and wash as needed. There was even a bit of laundry detergent to get us started! Anything you need is in walking distance if you’re adventurous, or a very short driving distance. Groceries, donuts, Pier 1, movie theater, cafes, etc. I cant WAIT to RETURN!!!

Home away from home in the middle of paradise at Parroteyes Home!

This house is in a prime location. It's located right on the water where there is quick access to bay or ocean by boat. It's very close to everything! The grocery store is located 3 minutes away and restaurants are right around the corner. (Dillon's Pub has delicious food!) The home is great for vacationing with family and friends. There is plenty of space and everything is very well kept. The owners of the home are very nice and they are always quick to reply. They were very helpful during our stay. I would highly recommend this home for an amazing effortless vacation in the Keys!

A great bayside canalfront vacation home in a great location with GREAT owners!!!!

This is our fourth year (and we're reserved for many, many more) renting from two fabulous owners. There are two levels (3bdrm/2baths with full kitchens on each level) that are fully furnished and very comfortable! Every year we come back the owners have always made fantastic changes!! The home is always clean upon arrival and the owners are always accommodating. The backyard is fabulous with a swimming pool, jacuzzi, tiki bar and a large hammock calling your name under the large shade tree that lines the walkway to the boat dock complete with a fish cleaning station. The home is close to everything if you choose to venture out. The home is located on a bayside canal with easy access to the ocean through Tavernier Creek. Every night we took a slow ride out to watch the sunset, which never gets boring. If you're looking for a great place to stay in the Florida Keys, look know further! You won't be disappointed!

Comfortable and relaxing family home

This was our second visit to Parroteyes; we enjoyed it so much the first time. We stayed at Christmastime again, and Chris had decorated with Christmas lights, so we felt very welcome. What a lovely spot! The house is well maintained, clean, and very comfortable. There is a large tree in the yard and plenty of shade in the afternoon for those who want it. It is very relaxing. Our group of eleven family members could really spread out. Some were sunbathing on the lounge chairs, some were playing cards, someone was reading in the hammock, and others were soaking in the hot tub. The location is very convenient. A small shopping center with a grocery store is just one mile away. Snorkeling and fishing outfitters are also nearby. Founders Park has a nice family beach, volleyball, bocce ball, and a pool. Take your rental agreement for free admission. John Pennekamp State Park is about 20 minutes north. There are restaurants too, but we used the excellent kitchens to prepare most of our own meals. Overall, the place feels like home, and I would highly recommend it.

Highly Recommend

I rented the house in August of 2014 and I'm just getting around to writing a review because I'm already thinking about booking for next year. The house was very clean with great floor plans to accomodate two couples with privacy and separate bathrooms. Each floor had 3 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms so it could easily be used by a small group, 2 couples or a larger group of friends and family. The kitchen had everything you would need to cook but who wants to on vacation? Within a short distance there are many restaurants and beach bars with happy hours and specials. Our favorite was the Lorelei which has live music and great food. If you do want to cook there is a large shopping plaza very close. The house is in a great location. Directly on a canal with easy access to both the Gulf and the ocean so you can enjoy both. The water is clear and you can see plenty of fish and one day a family of manatees came to visit. The dock has fresh water for cleaning your boat or the fish you caught. The pool had a Tiki Bar and plenty of lounge chairs and the water was just cleaned. There's also a hot tub if you need even more water. The property is well maintained and has everything you would need for a great vacation. I would recommend this property to anyone that wants a carefree, private vacation in a safe and quiet family neighborhood.

Great House, Great Location.

I would buy this house! Close to shopping & dive shop, well-appointed and nicely furnished. We were there the week before Christmas and the other houses on the canal were empty - lots of privacy, and lots of wildlife! Manatees every day at the dock, egrets, white, blue & night herons, a dolphin, beautiful iguanas, playful squirrels, and even a couple of crocodiles (who didn't stop anyone from swimming in the canal). We rented both the upstairs and the downstairs - perfect for two families. Master bedrooms have their own bathrooms, Jack & Jill bathrooms between the kids' bedrooms. Each floor has its own kitchen. and we were able to seat 11 upstairs so we could all eat together. The back yard faces north - perfect for hot days. There's a huge hibiscus tree that shades half the yard, leaving the sun on the pool area for sunbathing. The hot-tub warms up to 104 and has room for 9. Fifteen minutes up the road is John Pennecamp National Park - with a great mangrove maze and kayak rentals, a swimming beach, and a snorkeling beach where they have sunk a reproduction of an old ship in really shallow water, and some great hikes. Chris is very friendly and great to work with. We only had one slight problem with the property and she had it fixed very quickly. Great place for a family vacation or relaxing get-away - just don't go the week my family wants it!

everything you want or need

had a great time at this house. rented both floors for myself and some friends. plenty of space that you dont feel packed in and the pool was the icing on the cake. very clean, well stocked, well kept. for the first time of all my keys trips, i felt no desire to leave where i was staying. great place, great price, will probably be back next summer with the wives.

It IS paradise

This was the second year my husband & I rented the upstairs.Another couple,our good friends rented the first. In 2012-we rented for 2 months; two weeks there, we knew two months was too short. In 2013-we rented for 3 months and we are already booked for 2014. We have alot of mutual friends so we are able to accommodate all. All who visit can't wait to return. One couple visited for a week in 2012 and rented a property close by for month in 2013 and will be back in 2014. Another visited in 2013 and renting close by for month in 2014. Close to shopping center (not like the huge ones in the Northeast) with grocery store; liquor store; post office; movie theatre; nair/hair salon;dollar store; 3 restaurants; jeweler; CVS and McDonalds.All within a mile. Lots of great restaurants/bars within 10 mile radius. You can fish right off of the dock. I love the quiet mornings sipping coffee on the upstairs lanai looking out at canal or the evenings sipping vino out by the chiminea by the canal. The description provided of property is accurate. However, to see it personally is even nicer than pictures. The owners are committed to assure that their home feels like home to you. They were very responsive to any of our concerns. In essence, you can do as much or as little as you want during your stay. We are so looking forward to returning in 2014 to our winter getaway at Mile Marker 90.

Our wonderful stay in parroteyes!

Overall we rate this home excellent because of the beautiful setting, convenience of close by restaurants, shopping and of course fishing! Whether you are docking your boat at the private dock or simply fishing from the dock, this spot is sure to be fun. The home is spacious and comfortable with well stocked kitchen. The pool is just perfect with its own tiki bar. We totally enjoyed ourselves here, recommended it to several friends, and will defintely return next year!

Very Beautifull

The house was better than we expected from the pictures. The pool was much bigger than I thought it would be from the pictures. The yard was perfect for the family to hang out, while the kids played in the pool, the boat dock was convenient. We had kids swimming in the pool, guys fishing off the dock, and women sitting around enjoying the view. The house was marvelous, everything you need at your grasp. Again the pictures did not do justice, all the rooms were bigger than we had figured from the photos. If you are planning a family vacation with your inlaws this is perfect because you have two homes in one, you hang out together and when the inlaws get on your nerves you escape to your area. It is perfect if you have kids in your group and even if you don't. We had a great time using the hot tub, swimming in the pool and in the canal. The owners were really nice and helpful and did what they could to get us into the house early.

Best vacation ever!

What a wonderful month we had. From the friendly and helpful owners to the relaxation and enjoyment of the pool and hot tub, everything was great. Loved seeing all the wildlife on the canal, from manatees to iguanas. Location couldn't be better. Even the neighbors were wonderful! Thanks Chris and Jim..hope to be there again!

Prefect location

Wow, where do you start!!!! "Parroteyes" is all that it is built up to be and more. Chris and Jim make you feel welcome from your first contact right up to personally meeting us when we arrived. We were in the Keys for fishing and the home has everything for the angler. The large dock, fantastic fish cleaning station, bait fridge, and rod rack for storing the fishing equipment as it dried was well thought out and something I haven't found in other rentals. We enjoyed manatees as well as nurse sharks, tarpon, mangrove snapper, grouper, and other fishes in the crystal clear canal behind the home. The home and yard was beautifully decorated and very clean. Everywhere you look around the home, inside and out, reminds you of the Keys and the tropics. We'll be back!!!

Stayed there this October had a great time.The place is great.I would go back anytime. Manatees came right up to the dock.Has everything u need.We took our boat and its seconds from the Atlantic great sunsets too.
