About this property

Cozy Swedish-Style Cabin... Our Specialty is in the Details!

Built by Stefan Nilsson, this little “doll house” was completed in July of 2005. Inspired by Stefan's Swedish heritage, this adorable cabin has typical Swedish siding stained forest green, with natural spruce trim.

The cabin is in a quiet wooded setting, located 5-10 minutes away from Seward's activities; yet our guests can still stay connected to the rest of the world with free wireless internet service!

The inside comfortably sleeps 4 guests, having a queen-sized bed in a cozy alcove, two twin beds up in the sleeping loft, and a sitting area to relax in. A full bathroom is located near the back entrance.

The kitchenette has a refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, and toaster. Next to the kitchen, a custom-built breakfast nook affords spectacular views of Mt. Eva and her hanging glacier. Rich wood details, from the tongue and groove ceiling to the colorful stained beams, adorn the inside of the cabin.

The finish carpentry, as well as the unique colors on the walls, beams, and interior door make this cabin a work of art.

Keywords: A custom built cabin, with Scandinavian details. Cozily tucked in amongst the towering Sitka Spruce trees with spectacular views of Mt. Eva.

About the host

Hosted by Stefan and Binget Nilsson

Host profile image
Stefan and Binget Nilsson are your hosts along with their three children, Kjell (born 1999), Bjorn (born 2002), and Annika (born 2004). They moved to Seward in February of 1996. Binget grew up in Kenai, Alaska and spent many years fishing salmon on the banks of the Kenai River. After finishing college at the University of Washington in Seattle (1990), she put her pack on her back and went travelling down to New Zealand. In February of 1990, Stefan and Binget met on a bus (“The Magic Bus”) on the South Island of New Zealand and fell in love. At the end of the trip, neither thought they would see the other again. But it was God’s plan that they be together, and through interesting circumstances (and a helpful German friend!), they finally decided to be together and were married September 19, 1992 in Kenai. Your hosts love living in Alaska with their little ones, and appreciate the great outdoor opportunities that abound in the Seward area. Binget has a history in mountain climbing and has extensive knowledge of the trails and mountains in and around Seward. If you love to hike, bike, run the trails, or climb some of the local peaks…she can point you in the right direction! Stefan’s big love is hunting and fishing. He will be able to tell you the right lake or river for Dolly Varden, Rainbows, and Grayling...and he may even share his secrets about what the halibut and salmon are biting in Resurrection Bay ! They are excited to be able to share their outdoor experiences with you.

Why they chose this property

We love living out of town in our little neighborhood called "Old Mill Subdivision". There are towering Sitka Spruce trees throughout the subdivision that house Bald Eagles and a myriad of other birds, as well as the pesky squirrels that chatter away when you get too close. As well, you may see the occasional moose, porcipine, and black or brown bear wander through the area. The quiet life and gorgeous views are what suits our lifestyle in this area.

What makes this property unique

We enjoy having the river run through our neighborhood, which occasionally will have trout and salmon swimming. The hiking trails and berry picking in the Fall right outside our door is another plus for our family.
