Beautiful ocean views!

The house was everything as advertised and the host is very responsive and communicative. We enjoyed the views from the deck. Totally out of anyone’s control, there was some construction in the area so we scheduled our days around that.

Relaxing vacation

This property offers amazing 180 degrees views over the ocean, one can see the sun rise over the Pacific or the sunset colors over the landscape; it has all the necessary amenities and the owner is quick to respond if needed.

Amazing ocean views!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this house - watching for passing whales, enjoying the tranquillity and surrounding beauty, swimming in the pool or relaxing at the beach. We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Thanks again Dale and family.

The property was not clean, they had some plumbing issues and find give us the room until after 5pm, then we ran out of water until next day. On day 2 we found 3 poisonous scorpions. The property has potential but needs more attention to basic details from the owner.

Three Days in Puerto Angel

When we first arrived at this home close to Puerto Angel I quickly understood why some people found it challenging to access via taxi. The home is part of a small gated community perched on top of an big hill! We had a rental car so it wasn't an issue for us, but I would see it being challenging for some people or families with younger children. The view is absolutely marvelous at the top and the house itself was clean and well stocked. The infinity pool had a great view but due to leakage issues was only half-full. After spending two weeks in Puerto Escondido we felt rather isolated up on the hill which in some ways was nice but in other ways wasn't. I suppose it just depends on the kind of travel you enjoy.

Beautiful location

The location is beautiful as stated in the ad. There were great people that we met at the pool and socialized with. The beds were comfortable and most of the house was clean. The kitchen did need a thorough cleaning though. The cupboards, countertops, etc. The kitchen utensils could also use an overhaul; some in poor shape or others needed. There was a strong sewer odour in the upstairs bathroom. An umbrella is needed on one of the patios to provide some shade as it was too hot to sit there from 8-11 am. Dale got back to us immediately when we contacted him. Other than that, the house was very roomy. Lots of towels and bedding. Quite happy with our stay.

Amazing views, definitely, but this house is listed as being fot six people, IT IS NOT.

This property offers a spectacular view of the bay. It's absolutely gorgeous, but the house is a bit run down and needs an overhaul. During our three-week stay, we ended not having any air conditioning in the two bedrooms. The lady in charge, Manuela, is useless to solve problems and by the time we got the owners involved, a good portion of our vacation was already gone. As mentioned, this house is for four adults. The two 18-inch cement-based sofas covered with a flimsy cushion do not constitute a proper bed. With some attention, this place could be a lot more attractive.

Friends staying next door

We had friends staying at the house next door. Location and description to the house was great. Views from the deck overlooking the ocean and the pool were exceptionally nice. Got a whale show the very first morning. Beds were comfortable and there were lots of towels available. I needed to wash all the outside chairs and tablecloth before they were used. The main bathroom sink was cracked across the top and the cup holder fell off the wall when I put a dry facecloth on it. Shower pressure was great but there was a big leak from the top which I tried to fix but it was held in place with a towel so just made due (although water went everywhere on the floor because you could not change the direction of the shower head). I also wiped down the cupboards in the kitchen. Overall, it was OK. The place itself is just needing some TLC.

Decent enough place if the price stays low.

The owner is quick to respond....with very few words. Owner advertises an air mattress. When we informed him that it was broken and only a single he said, "Air mattress was purchased a long time ago, cushions come off the couch." That's it. Great. Cheap,paper-thin cushions come off of a cement bench/couch onto....the cement floor? Awesome. Bottom line. The place is for 4 adults, not six. MIght as well write 'sleeps 20', if you're going to write six. There are only beds for 4 and they are cheap, lumpy mattresses that wrecked my back. In the photos it looks like the pool is right next to the house. It is not. It is a bit of a walk through something of a junkyard. It's nice when you get there, not nice getting there. The view is amazing, as stated. Sea birds soaring right in front of you all day. It's certainly quiet and safe as it's in a gated community a couple miles from town. Driving to everything is a must. There is nowhere to walk to, unless you enjoy walking several miles in the blazing heat. The beach you can walk to has no services and can be quite rough for swimming. Bring water if you don't want to immediately have to go get water. Every other place in Mexico supplies you with water. This one does not. A great place if you want to get away from it all, don't want to spend much money and don't care about terrible beds.

A Great Beach Vacation for Self-Reliant Travellers

Our group of 12 (7 adults, 5 kids) rented this house and the one next door for a two week family reunion at Christmas and New Years. The owner, Dale, was very helpful and easy to work with in advance, and it was great to see that the photos and description of the property matched what greeted us on arrival. While we've stayed at all-inclusive resorts and in more touristed areas in the past, we were looking for a more relaxed, affordable family vacation on a beautiful part of the Oaxacan coast and were not disappointed! The home is located in a gated condo community that is still under development, though that was not at all a problem for us. There is a wonderful pool situated on the cliff-side overlooking the Pacific, and it gets lots of shade in the afternoon. Sunrises are beautiful from the front deck (yes, they heat up the house, but with the sliding glass doors open things were just fine, and the air-con in the bedrooms made for a nice retreat...and if you don't like heat, you shouldn't go to Oaxaca's coast anyways!), and it was a lot of fun to watch the local boats, schools of flying manta rays, and huge moon rises from the patio. We spent most of our days at the beach or the pool, but the house is well-equipped with dvds, cards, games, books, etc. Do bring extra dvds if you get easily bored; there is internet service, though it was slow and reception spotty from time to time, but my wife was quite glad since it meant our teen age son and I unplugged from the world except for me checking e-mail once a day! The house cleaners do a great job of cleaning (twice a week), the kitchens were well-stocked, and we were very happy to have laundry facilities in-house. It is easiest in this part of Oaxaca if you have your own car. However, taxi service can be arranged, and it would not be a hassle if you are flexible or used to this sort of travel. We had cars and so took day trips to Puerto Escondido and to the mountains, visited the many beaches (be sure to go to Mazunte and to the Ventanilla nature preserve), and to get to the Bodega Aurera (WalMart) 20 minutes away in Pochutla. We never did find the mythical pizza joint of El Alquimista! That aside, the kids actually loved walking down the steep mountain side to the little beach, La Mina, a 10 minute walk down, and 15 back. There, they passed several days collecting shells, swimming, throwing the frisbee, snorkeling, and jumping off the huge rock in the bay. Lots of great memories from this trip!

This is a great place in a safe gated community. We loved the pool and the view from the pool, the view from the decks is amazing! Nice little kitchen. The walk down to the private beach is amazing…but wear runners to climb back up!!! It is a really steep climb.It was great that the host responded quickly to any questions. They also provided great recommendations for the area as well as a recommended taxi driver which is a huge value!!Small tweaks to the house would make it a next level stay. Beds are not very comfortable and bedding could be updated.Hot water had no heat and no pressure. While I enjoyed the refreshing shower, my partner did not . The games are only a deck of cards.

La Mina

Wonderful location overlooking the ocean with sunrise views from 2 terraces and roof, and sunset views just a short walk away. Nighttime views likewise gorgeous. Area quiet and private except for sporadic daytime construction/repair of other houses in La Mina. Entrance drive cobbled and concrete. Pool enjoyable, cleaned daily, with showers and bathrooms and pool chairs available in the house. Snorkeling gear also provided. La Mina beach accessible by walk along narrow, overgrown path, no facilities and water rough near high tide. Walking access to Estacahuite beaches. Many other car/taxi-accessible beautiful local beaches with good restaurants. House was ideal for two adult couples with dogs. Kitchen well-equipped. Bring drinking water.

A Little Bit Of Heaven

The house was so welcoming and cozy. The A/C helped so much especially turning it on after a hot day at the beach! Dale was always quick to respond to any need or question that is why I would rent from him again.

A great place to stay.

Great pool and view but property run down

We wont go back...too many issues with place, not clean enough, holes or missing screens, not one comfortable piece of furniture and decks need some palapas for shade as too hot to use from 8am to 6pm and lack of shade causes house to get very hot. We weren't informed about construction 10 feet away and had to deal with workers on front steps every morning except one, so much dust and noise had to close doors and turn on AC every day... we set AC at 28 and it was bearable. Owner was quick to answer questions and replaced broken washer after 1 week, but we had to deal with repairmen who spoke zero English and it took a couple hours out of 2 days to handle...not what i want to do on vacation. We liked the area, lots of nice beaches, great local seafood and produce and felt safe. Our Spanish improved as few people speak English but were overall friendly and helpful.

An Enjoyable Family Stay

Our family of four stayed at the property from March 20-29, 2019. We had been to Puerto Angel once before so we were familiar with the area and the villa was well oriented to places we were looking to visit. The A/C is a definite plus as it's so hot down there and the views from the deck are fabulous. The property is nice and well set up for all sorts of travellers, including those with kids (ours are 12 and 9). Dale was very responsive to assist with any issues that arose during the trip and we definitely appreciated his efficiency. Our kids loved the pool and we enjoyed checking out Mina beach too as this was one we hadn't seen on our first trip there. Both times we have been down there, we have rented a car for our stay. While taxis are plentiful in the area, we enjoy the freedom of being able to go somewhere when we want to vs having to wait (we know from our previous visit that wait times can be long sometimes). Zipolite is a short ten or so minute drive from the villa and the restaurants there are amazing. We absolutely adore Puerto Angel and we plan to return. A point that I feel should be made is that there is construction of a new villa going on right across from Dale's unit. The workers start at 6:30am every day except Sunday and they work until 5pm or so. The master bedroom faces this side of the property so we were woken up every morning (except the Sunday) by the noise. This certainly isn't Dale's fault nor is it an issue with his unit per se; however, it would have been useful to have known about it ahead of time because it was certainly very loud. On days we'd return to the villa in the mid-afternoons for a beach break, it wasn't enjoyable to constantly hear banging, chain saws and the workers' loud tunes blasting from their radio. I would think there will still be a number of months before the property is completed so just something to be aware of. Maybe bring ear plugs until it's finished. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and we can't say enough good things about the area.

Location and view

This was a wonderful villa. The ocean view was breathtaking. The area was quiet and you will need a car for convenience. It was very close to puerto Ángel where there were a lot of options to eat along with plenty of convenience stores. Had a great stay.

Amazing view from house and infinity pool!

Our family of 6 stayed 5 nights here and we loved it. My youngest said it was the best place we stayed in Mexico! Dale has all the towels you need for the beach and pool, comfortable chairs for sitting on the deck and enjoying the view, and even a washing machine. Mariano at the front gate is a dear and had great advice about coming and going. We highly recommend going on the horseback riding beach tour at Ventanilla which is near Mazunte Beach. In retrospect, I would recommend renting a car as taxis can get expensive and are hard to find if, like us, you tend to be out past 6 or 7 in the evening at one of the neighboring beaches. The beach which you can walk to, Playa Mina is great so you don't really need to go anywhere else if you don't want to, but it's kind of fun to try new places. Also recommend Playa Estacahuite 1.9 km walk from house as very calm waters and good for snorkeling. Overall, we were very happy with Casa Graff and would stay there again if travelling to Oaxaca beaches.

This was a beautiful property, but there were maintenance issues.

Puerto Angel was nice, great beaches, very scenic. At the property, Manuela and Mariano were very friendly and helpful, but there were definitely maintenance issues. There were a lot of ants in the kitchen. There were old ant traps around, but they probably need to be replaced regularly. There was no door knob on the upstairs bedroom, which made trapping the A/C in that room problematic. The WiFi was out most of the time (but i’m not sure that’s the owner’s fault). The pool was low on water. I would characterize the issues as small but irritating. Overall, it was a nice stay and the property has a beautiful setting.

The house could have been cleaner. AC in bedroom was extremely loud so had to be turned off in order to sleep. The patio umbrella needs replacing and screen door to the main bedroom wouldn’t stay on the runners.

One month stay at Casa Del Graff

Very comfortable house with a wonderful view. The Infinity pool was refreshing and mostly deserted when we were there. The owner and caretaker Manuela were easily accessible when we needed them. There are lots of nice beaches. We rented a car but the driving is a bit difficult because of the mountains. Taxis are available if you don’t rent a car. The only issue we have is the internet. It did not work all the time. The neighbors also had problems.
