One block from the Gulf in Holmes Beach — a very short walk to the beach, and guests who find SS Salamander North tend to come back year after year. Some for multiple years running.

The backyard is the centerpiece. A heated pool shared with the south unit sits within lush tropical landscaping. The fire pit table and gas grill are poolside for evenings that don't end when the beach day does. An outdoor shower handles the post-beach rinse. The front has a large upper deck for those beautiful sunsets. Covered parking has two spaces per unit.

Two bedrooms sleep five. The primary bedroom has a queen bed. The second bedroom has a full bed and a twin bed — a practical configuration for a parent and child or two guests comfortable sharing the space. The living room has a 55" smart TV with streaming. The kitchen is fully stocked for home-cooked meals. Shared full-size washer and dryer on the property.

Local bars, restaurants, ice cream shops, boutiques, and the free AMI trolley are all within easy walking distance.

SS Salamander North requires a one-week minimum stay. No pets.

Relaxing beach vacation

The house is fantastic with lots of amenities and a very short walk to the beach. My husband and I bounced between the beach and the pool area every day. Thank you for an amazing stay!

The back yard and pool are wonderful. They are shared with the conjoined house. The house has everything you need for a comfortable stay and was very clean. It is an older home that has mostly been redone, except for the main bath, which really needs to be. The management company was great to work with.

Love this location

Walk to the beach for sunsets, midway between Pine St AMI and Bradenton Beach. Easy walk or bike ride to entertainment and eating options, nice options in back yard (bbq, fire pit, pool, hammock). Have to say on shortcomings is arrived with barely any toilet paper or papertowels or garbage bags...I hate buying that stuff on vacation...otherwise great.

Incredible Location, Comfy House, Great Pool. Needs Some Updates

Reviewer Comments: I'll make this one easy for you:1) you'll be about a 30 second walk to the beach entrance. 2) the 2-bedroom house will sleep 4 wonderfully. I wouldn't want more than that.3) the balcony was a joy in the mornings and evenings.4) the pool (and in fact the whole back yard) is not done justice by the photos. It was great.5) The kitchen was ready to search for things, and be a little underwhelmed by what you find (not strange for a rental, but still). Little things like a comically bad toaster seem small...unless you need a toaster. The ice maker was a champion though.6) The laundry room is shared with your neighbor...may not be a big deal for you, but worth noting.7) The beach gear provided is pretty janky...bring your own if you can.8) Unless you're intending to spend a lot of time in the north side of the island, I don't think a golf cart rental is needed. The location is really good - close to bars, shops, ice cream, etc. ...and that's really it. If you have two families of four...I highly recommend renting both duplexes.

Relaxing Beach & Pool Vacation

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had such a great time during our stay on AMI. The property was a little closer to the beach than we had expected and although it is one of the older properties in the neighborhood, the location was just right for our plans to relax and head to the beach or relax by the pool. Admittedly, I was excited that no one had booked the other side of the duplex up until 2 days before our trip, however, the people that booked next door were lovely and so kind to our family during the few short times we saw them near the pool or coming/going from the home. We liked the comfort of the sectional in the living room, as opposed to some rentals we had viewed with chairs that didn't appear to look comfortable from pictures. It was a perfect size for our family of 4 and had plenty of seating between the kitchen, dining room area, and front porch. A recommendation to anyone who enjoys having coffee in the morning on the front porch that it may be helpful to bring the cushions in at night as we had thunderstorms each night so the cushions were soaked by morning, which we figured out after the first few days. We did not cook full meals but the kitchen seemed to have a lot of what you would need, if you did. Although the AC worked and kept the house at a comfortable temperature most of the time, it was very warm the first night in the master bedroom. It was in the 90's most of the week (FL in June), so to be expected that it may be hard for the unit to keep up with it but we would have preferred it to be a little cooler. The pool was one of the better/larger pools on the island that we had found and the backyard had plenty of space. There were warm breezes most of the trip so the bugs were not bad except for maybe 1-2 days during our entire trip when it was less breezy. All in all it was a great trip and we are looking forward to making it back to AMI next year. Thank you!

The pool and backyard are beautiful and well maintained and there are plenty of pool toys, beach chairs, etc. The kitchen is well equipped. My only complaints are the matresses are cheap, hard and very uncomfortable and the sheets are like sandpaper. The twin beds in the second bedroom didn't even have head boards. They really need to update the beds in this rental. The tub in the bathroom hardly drained and we ended up having to plunge it twice. The bathroom window was also missing a curtain and the neighbors could see right in at night from their crows nest. A few simple changes would take this rental from good to great.

Minor problems, but would be nice.

Paradise Found!

Beautiful heated pool, close to beach, decorated nicely and the lanai was wonderful. Kitchen supplied with excellent cookware etc. Beds comfortable, nice linens....needs some screens repaired and minor other things. Over all wonderful experience! Best was the pool and Beach!
