Offering stunning ocean views, a large porch, expansive lawn, and easy water access from a shared dock and float, Thorburn Cottage is the perfect retreat to make lasting memories with your family and friends.

Inside the cottage you will find a well-stocked kitchen with everything you will need to make a delicious meal, a living room offering seating for all, three comfortable bedrooms, and one and a half baths. You'll love the ocean views from indoors, but you will surely find yourself spending your days enjoying the beautiful ocean breezes from the spacious porch, perfect for dining and sunbathing, and the expansive lawn for family fun!

Pets are welcome at Thorburn Cottage (a non-refundable pet fee applies). More than one dog requires permission from host. If booking on VRBO click on "Travelers" box and check box by "I am traveling with pets."

Lovely ocean view cottage with access to a dock for kayaking - dog heaven with wide open share field. House is a great Harpswell location, easy to Brunswick, Freeport & Bath - up on a hill so cool and breezy to sleep.

Cute cottage with rustic charm and great views of the sound. Neighbors were very nice and the short walk to the dock was an added bonus. The stairs were a bit creaky / loud which wasn’t an issue unless it was evening hours.

House was clean and well equipped. Able to cook our 26 lobsters and 2 crabs with the huge steamer pots. The location and view of the bay were outstanding. A tranquil place to relax - the hammock on the wrap around porch was icing on the cake! Easy to get to local attractions off of the island area. Neighbors were friendly. We had an amazing time, and would definitely go back.

Perfect Sisters' Getaway

Absolutely loved our late summer stay at this dreamy cottage in Harpswell. The cottage reminded us of childhood summer stays in coastal New England and the nostalgia was real and definitely welcome.

The location was fantastic; remote enough to enjoy the scenery but close enough to town and excursions to our favorite spots (Erica's Cooks, Giant's stairs, Bowdoin). Loved the walk to the cove with our dogs. The neighbors in nearby cottages were friendly and we enjoyed talking with them. The cottage is a little creaky but that added to its charm. It was very comfortable and well-appointed. The rental staff was nice to work with and communication was great. We look forward to visiting again.

Old House with Nice Views of the Cove

The location offers truly beautiful views of the cove, which we enjoyed from morning until sunset. A huge bonus was having access to the shared dock and launch site, which made taking our kayaks out effortless. We also enjoyed exploring the many hiking trails in the area. Check out Devils Back Trail and see the harbor seals. The house was extremely clean and well-maintained upon our arrival. Loved having the grill and the spacious porch for our steak and chicken dinner. Our experience with the rental agency, Mainestay Vacations, was top-notch. They were very helpful and answered all of our questions quickly and concisely. The only issue we encountered was the noise from the floors. Since the only bathroom was downstairs, the creaky floors made it difficult for anyone to go to the bathroom at night without waking up the rest of the household. While this was a minor inconvenience, it did impact our sleep.Overall, it was a great stay, and we highly recommend both the location and Mainestay Vacations for their excellent service.

Just what we expected. Our 2 kids and 2 grandchildren visited 1 night and it was cozy with one upstairs bathroom.It was cozy upstairs with no heat in the bedrooms and outside temp in the 30s at night.Downstairs with heat and a full bath was very good.

But the property should have been inspected to ensure that dead mice weren't lurking under the furniture, that ceiling lighting fixtures had lamp shades, that torn lampshades were replaced, that dead light bulbs had been replaced, and that dead bugs were vacuumed out of the window wells before we arrived.The refrigerator sang and wailed to us sporadically for 3 weeks. We were assured that it was fine, and to be honest, the fridge didn't die--despite its wails. The screen door still needs to be replaced, and the mismatched porch chairs were just sad.But, oh, that view!

My mom needs some extra help these days so the upstairs bathroom made it so she could go a bazillion times throughout the night without having to negotiate the somewhat steep staircase. The kitchen was perfect for making dinner and made us WANT to do the dishes with the gorgeous view. The property managers were very responsive with the small adjustment we needed. Would love to come back! Felt like the calm and inviting atmosphere we were looking for.

Charming cottage

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is a lovely cottage with all of the charm of a typical Maine camp. It’s age was part of the appeal for us, the steep steps were not a problem for us, and we were fine with the squeaky Floors, but it might be an issue for some. This is a perfect location in Harpswell for accessing other attractions, we especially loved Stovers Point Preserve which is just down the road. The view from the porch is beautiful, and the area is exceptionally quiet. They’re very very friendly neighbors that were happy to provide information. The cottage sits up on a hill, with water access down the hill, a 4-5 min walk. But be aware, hauling kayaks back to the cottage is a 2 person job for something like a sea kayak. We rented from Seaspray for 3?days which was plenty of time. I would definitely stay here again and would like to see it available for long weekends. My only disappointment was the condition of the cookware- scratched and rusted Teflon. I went home for some errands and brought my own pans back.

The dock on the shore was a little complicated to navigate since the walkway was no longer connected to the dock. A storm damaged them earlier in the year. But wading in to swim worked well at mid and high tide.

Wonderful family stay to enjoy the fall colors

We had a great stay! The house was exactly as pictured, very cozy and well equipped. Located near the water, a bit away from the busier areas around Brunswick, but conveniently closed to grocery stores and fun activities. The communication with the host was very smooth. Would definitely recommend staying here!

sweet spot

With or without binoculars, the view is quite stunning. Perched on a hill, looking over the waters to the open ocean, our cottage was just right! In our kayak or on the porch was where we spent most of our two days. Even when temps dropped with pouring rain outside, we were warm and cozy inside.

New favorite getaway!

This was a charming cottage in the most ideal location. The neighbors were very friendly and helpful in directing us to local beaches and activities. The deck has the most amazing view and almost constant offshore breeze. An ideal and traditional Maine-cation!

Cute Cottage - Great Views

Quiet little seaside getaway. Perfect for us and our small dog - with gorgeous sunrises over the water. A great big porch for morning coffee (or evening wine). A very relaxing place to stay.
