About the host

I was born and raised in Port Salerno, a small town on the coast of Florida. My family had been commercial fishermen for generations, and I followed in their footsteps, spending most of my days out on the water. Despite the challenges of the job, I loved being a fisherman and felt a deep connection to the sea and to our town's fishing heritage.

Over the years, I witnessed many changes in Port Salerno. The town struggled as larger commercial operations took over and regulations made it harder for small fishermen like me to make a living. But despite the challenges, I remained committed to my way of life.

One day, while out on my boat, I spotted a group of tourists on a nearby charter boat. They were taking photos and chatting excitedly, clearly enjoying the experience of being out on the water. Watching them, I felt a pang of sadness, realizing that many of the town's younger residents had never experienced the thrill of being out on the sea. I knew that the fishing way of life was in danger of dying out.

However, I also realized that I could share my love of fishing and our community with others. I started building rental homes to bring people from all over the world to our small historical town. To my surprise, people were eager to come and learn about the town's fishing history and heritage.

In time, my rental homes are now turning into vacation homes, bringing friends and family together to create memories that will last a lifetime. I feel proud to be able to share my love of the sea with others and help keep the fishing heritage of Port Salerno alive for future generations.

I live right down the street so I am sure you will meet me on your next trip to our quaint little seaside town.

Why they chose this property

This property is very special to me because it holds a lot of memories of my family. It all started when I decided to build a small cottage on a piece of land that I inherited from my father. Like I said earlier, my father and I built rental homes together. As we worked, we shared stories and jokes, and I felt grateful for the time we were spending together.

Years later, the cottage needed some updating, and I enlisted the help of my daughter. Together, we renovated the space, adding modern touches while still preserving the rustic charm that my father and I had created.

As we worked, my daughter and I bonded over our shared love of design and our memories of spending time in the cottage. It was a special experience, and I felt proud to be passing on the tradition of working on the property with family.

Now, whenever I visit the cottage, I am reminded of the love and hard work that went into creating it. It's a place where generations of my family have come together, and I know that it will continue to hold a special place in our hearts for years to come.
