About this property

Escape to the peaceful town of Montross and stay at our newly updated waterfront home, The Cove. You'll have great views from the house of the Potomac River out of the three sliding doors. Enjoy the outdoors from seating options on the deck, dock or the side yard, all show off the beautiful view. Our fully stocked kitchen will provide what you need for a home-cooked meal. Enjoy your meal at the large kitchen table with seating for 6 people. The living room has a large comfortable couch and two accent chairs. This space is ideal for gathering with your guests for conversations or watching TV on the 50' Smart TV. Next to the living room you have The Den. This space you have another comfortable couch and ottoman, here is the perfect spot to sip on your morning coffee and enjoy the sunrise. The room can be closed off with a sliding barn door, to be used as a work space with the provided desk and chair. On the first floor you'll find bedroom one with a queen bed. The half bathroom is right across the hall. The vanity is large enough for your toiletries, additional storage underneath. The upstairs level has the additional two bedrooms and full bath. One bedroom has a king bed, the other one full, and a twin trundle bed. The bedroom with the full/twin trundle also has a smart TV.

Montross in known for its Sharks Tooth Hunting, head to Sharks Tooth Beach for teeth and shell hunting, fishing and swimming. The beach is a just a quick 10 minute walk through the neighborhood. Parking is also available on site at the beach. Another fantastic option for shark teeth hunting is Westmoreland State Park there you will find a choice of multiple walking trails. Fossil Beach trail is perfect for families, take the 0.4 mile walk straight down to fossil beach for more sharks tooth hunting!

Montross Town Center is a only 20 minute drive away! No need to worry about traffic here! In Montross you will find great local restaurants including, Angelos Pizza and Seafood, Art of Coffee, Montross Brewery, Northern Neck Brewing Company (opening soon), NNK BBQ at The Barn. On the weekends you'll typically be able to see live music at Montross Brewery and The Barn. The families of young children enjoy the brand new playground!

Hello! We are the Potthast Family, Joe and Heather and our daughters Hadley and Caroline. We are both born and raised in the Northern Virginia area and currently live in Fairfax. Joe works for a family ownend insurance company and Heather is a Stay at home mom and manages this vacation rental. We are also dog parents to a sweet 10 year old Golden Retriever named Knox!

Why they chose this property

Montross VA is a very special place to Heathers family. The house next door(from the front, right side) is built and owned by her great uncle for 30 years. Heather has been vacationing here with her family her whole life. She has countless memories of enjoying the peaceful and serine neighborhood, and enjoying days out on the boat with her family. After a summers day outside we loved coming home enjoying local seafood or preparing a delicious meal together. During the colder months we still love coming down and enjoying the "escape" from the busy life in Northern VA. We have been blessed with the opportunity to continue those traditions with our children. The previous owners of our house were owners for the past 18 years, and have become close family friends, as sad as we were to see them leave we were excited about the chance to make this home our own. This gave us more space for our growing family to vacation here with our extended family. We are looking forward to sharing this home for others to enjoy the beauty of Montross, VA!

What makes this property unique

We have roots here that are 30 years in the making. Our neighbors have become family and have been so generous to lend a helping hand when needed. This gives us some peace knowing we are remote hosts and have a community willing to help when needed. We encourage our guests to give our neighbors a friendly "hello" if you see them out! They will surely give you any advice they have to take full advantage of Montross.
