Wow. The lack of honesty here is shocking and disappointing. For clarity, I will address your concerns one quote at a time. [Apologies for the capital letters but there is no option to bold or underline here]. "The property was in poor condition, featuring stained carpets, noisy heaters, a broken indoor fireplace, and an insecure sliding back door." --- If any of these concerns were real, I wish you had brought them to our attention during your stay so we could have taken care of them for you. I mentioned to you that the fireplace was being serviced. The only other complaint you brought to my attention during your stay was that you couldn't find a dishwasher pod and we OFFERED TO REIMBURSE YOU for them. "The kitchen was inadequately stocked, and we discovered dirty dishes put away in the cupboards." --- This is our family vacation home and we keep the kitchen amply stocked and clean as we use it ourselves. It is complete with full sets of matching china and flatware, oversized cups and coffee mugs, wine glasses, both a Keurig and drip coffee machine, a full collection of nonstick cookware, utensils, blender, toaster, waffle maker, various spices, etc. in addition to the standard stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator/freezer, and Weber propane grill (outside). "The community amenities were also misrepresented. We found one pool empty and were unable to use the basketball or tennis courts due to unlisted reservation requirements." --- Saw Creek Estates is THE MOST HIGHLY RATED community in the Poconos for both residents and vacationers; It is actually #1. The amenities and staff are second to none. When you first reserved the property, I encouraged you to contact member services to confirm hours of operation and reservation requirements. But you did not call. I know this because YOU DID NOT REPLY TO ANY of my messages NOR DID YOU COMPLETE THE GUEST REGISTRATION FORM in time so I would be able to add your party to the gate for entry to the community. As a matter of fact, there is a $75 fee for late submission of this form WHICH I PAID FOR YOU and only requested $25 as I was trying to be a gracious host. In addition to the lack of communication, you also assumed you'd be able to use the property’s personal amenity passes after your stay was complete. I was surprised by your assumption, but still went ABOVE AND BEYOND EXTENDING your amenity access… hours after your scheduled check-out time. "Additionally, the lack of information regarding pool towels forced us to use those from the house. Finally, a malfunctioning door code prevented us from returning the towels inside upon checkout. We left them tucked between the storm door and the locked door, and notified the owner. Despite our offer to drive back and attempt to resolve this, the owner refused to facilitate access and insisted we replace the towels before any damage was proven." --- There was no lack of information regarding pool towels. You just didn't read the materials provided. Our property description on the VRBO platform is very clear that bath towels and linens are provided for all guests. We do not mention beach or pool towels and were never given the opportunity to discuss this with you, because you didn't ask. WE SHOULD HAVE CHARGED YOU for the soaking wet white bath towels you carelessly left outside of a house in the woods and ruined, BUT WE DID NOT. On top of that, you left our front door unlocked and storm door open overnight. THERE WAS NO MALFUNCTION with the door, you just entered the code and then did not push it open. Also, you had my cell phone as it is provided to every guest and you could've called me at any time for assistance. Instead, you messaged me after you had already driven more than an hour away and then requested renewed access to the gated community. In all of our time as hosts, we have never had such difficulty with a guest. We care deeply and take great pride in our hospitality as evidenced by our excellent reviews. We provide a home away from home, because we love the idea of our property being part of people's special memories. It's sad when we have to deal with someone who behaves as you have.. and then to top it off, leave such an unfair and untrue review. We bless you and wish you the best in your future travels.
