The home is nice, and mostly as advertised. However, it would have been nice to know in the listing/ahead of time that their "house rules" require you to start a load of your bath towels and start the dishwasher before you leave. If you do not do this, it may result in losing part of your damage deposit--on top of their cleaning fee--due to possible housekeeping overtime. I've never had a VRBO host expect guests to do laundry. While not a huge amount of time, I'd rather stay at a hotel or another VRBO that doesn't ask me to do chores while on vacation. Isn't that what we pay housekeeping for? It took the luster out of the last morning.
One other point to consider: the afternoon we arrived, the Nest thermostat said “very low battery - replace now,” and while the manager replied to my message quickly, they did not want to come and replace it until the next morning when they were dropping their kids off at school. Not sure where they live, but if the thermostat isn't going to work overnight on very cold or very hot days, I would hope for a more prompt response to something like this. There was a big temperature difference between the upstairs and bottom floor bedrooms overnight, but that could have been because the Nest battery had died.
Otherwise, the home and neighborhood is nice and relatively quiet, with coffee shops and a few restaurants in walking distance.
