Waterfront, 7 acres; Stunning Home on Coastal Tidal Marsh w/Private Dock
Visit this peaceful Georgia cabin rental for a kind of quiet you didn’t know still existed, as you visit the last remaining stretch of undeveloped Georgia coast.
The only sound you’ll hear at this serene 3-bedroom, 2-bath vacation rental in Shellman Bluff Georgia, is the breeze blowing through the Spanish moss on the oak trees that surround you.
Savor a coffee on the porch as you watch the sunrise before heading out to explore in kayaks using the private dock steps from the porch. Launch your own boat from nearby Shellman Bluff Fish Camp and tie up at your own private dock.
Smell the salt air mixed with the earthy aromas of the marsh. Take in the sunrise with a steaming hot cup of coffee on the best situated screened porch in Georgia. Sit in wonder as Mother Nature constantly changes the artwork of light and wildlife with the ever-changing tides.
Catch your dinner off your own private dock: a bounty of blue crab, shrimp and fish.
At day’s end, look forward to a campfire under the stars and a delicious seafood dinner caught in your backyard.
Come experience the log cabin that a great love story built. We've lovingly restored this sweet space and call her, "Ms. Lou's Cabin," named in honor of her original owner.
There's not another home like this on the entire Georgia coast. So special, sitting on 7 private acres.
Spend your entire time on this one-of-a-kind property or go explore. This home is perfectly situated for day trips to Savannah, Tybee Island, Saint Simons, Brunswick and Jekyll Island.
Keep your calendar handy because this place ruins you quickly. Our guests don't seem to leave without first booking their next trip back.
We can't wait to see you at Ms. Lou's Cabin!
(One note: Because of the way the VRBO software works, this is listed as a 4 bedroom cabin. A better explainer: There are two dedicated bedrooms. One is downstairs with a king-sized bed. The other is upstairs and has two queen-sized beds. The other two sleep spaces are a loft and the front sitting room which turns into a private bedroom with the use of a sliding pocket door. Both of these spaces have fold out couches that transform into queen-sized beds. If you are looking for a cookie cutter McMansion this is not your place. If you crave quirky comfort and a one of a kind place, please come see us!)

This is a great property, very private location. Grandson has a great time fishing. The host is outstanding; she went out of her way to be sure we had everything we wanted or needed. We will definitely book this property again.
My family had a fantastic time at Ms Lou’s cabin. The place was well designed, very clean, well appointed, and was at a beautiful location. I loved the screened in porch and spent lots of time there during our trip. Daryn and Trent are great hosts. Gave lots of helpful suggestions for restaurants and what to do in the area. They responded to any question or need we had and were so nice. I highly recommend staying here when vacationing in Georgia.
The host was very helpful and accommodating and welcoming. It was very nice to interact with very normal, nice folks as the hosts. The property is so peaceful and beautiful, perfect for a bit of a remote, recharging getaway.

Thank you, Katie! Such a gift to host you and your family for Christmas! Please come see us again soon!
Loved every minute of our 10 day trip!! Conveniently located to Savannah, Tybee Island to the north and to the south we had Darien, Jekyll Island and St. Simmons Island. Close to Harris Neck Wildlife Refuge that we visited a couple of times. Quite and peaceful except for the birds singing which I enjoyed.

So wonderful to host you for this long stretch. Come back and see us when things are a little cooler! Just wait until you hear what the birds are singing then. :)
We had a wonderful stay with family. The house (cabin) is very comfortable with everything needed to enjoy the beautiful GA coast. Our host (Daryn) was/is great, always attentive and helpful whenever needed. My only reluctance to this post is the concern for others to discover this jewel of a location. We shall return!
This was a perfect location for our 30th anniversary. The home was beautiful, quiet and clean. The salt marsh was fascinating to watch and the thunderstorms made the marsh even more amazing. Our proximity to Savannah and Amelia Island made day trips easy. The communication with the hosts was incredible. alIsland
We had a lovely time at Miss Lou’s cottage. The cottage was perfect for our needs and we and our dog Banjo had the most relaxing and peaceful time. I could sit all day on that screened porch watching the tides and the birds. Appreciated the kayaks and fishing poles for our use and the house was immaculate. Thanks for everything!

Thank you so much! We look forward to hosting you again soon!
This house is the perfect get away spot! The host was very welcoming and friendly! We had a great time enjoying the beautiful views and the kids had plenty of room outside to run and play. The house was decorated so cute and had all the essentials! If we are in the area again, we would definitely come back!
The owners are spectacular! Communication was prompt and great. Wonderful experience catching seafood from the docks. We loved sitting on the screened in porch. It was perfect for our dog. The area is beautiful and loved learning about the local ecosystem. Ate at the old school diner which was a 5 star experience and explored the Harris neck nature trail. I would love to come back once or twice annually. Can’t wait to be back!

Thank you for your kind comments! We'd love to host you again. Come on down!
The hospitality of our hosts was phenomenal. Directions to the place, the amenities , as well as additional help as soon as we arrived to changing conditions over at the Wildlife refuge were spot on. Fantastic place to just chill, listen to the quiet, and enjoy the essence of nature. Thank you.
Great place if you like privacy and nature. Excellent crabbing right off the dock. Poor or no road signage, but learned our way around after a couple days. Good base for traveling to local attractions. Hire a guide if you want to explore the waterways, or fish.

Such a delight to share this magical marsh with you and your wife. Please come back and see us soon, especially now that you know the way!
The house is wonderfully charming, the area is spectacular and the neighbors are the hosts-who are so kind and helpful! This place is so charming. It’s a special place with an unparalleled view. We saw dolphins in the marsh! It was lovely! It was secluded and so quiet it was almost disconcerting. You could actually feel the stress leaving your body when you turned down the driveway! We all loved it and we will be back.

So lovely to host you and your family. Love that our dolphin friends showed up to welcome you, as well. Nothing as magical as seeing them swim and feed just off the dock! Looking forward to hosting you again!
Wonderful hidden away oasis. The cabin is very well appointed with everything you may need and the surrounding landscape of the marsh seems to melt away the rush of the real world. A place to decompress completely with activities available if you choose to partake in them. I hope to return!

We loved hosting you! Come back and get started on writing that book!
The location is incredible--right on the tidal marsh. From the house and dock, we saw amazing water birds. We even watched a dolphin splashing around right by the dock. We kayaked right from the dock on several days. It was also a great home base to make day trips to Savannah, Sapelo Island and Jekyll Island. Host was very communicative and made great recommendations for the area. Highly recommend!

About the host
Hosted by Daryn Kagan
We ran away from the big city at the height of COVID. We came for two days and like the locals say, "This place ruined us." We now can't imagine living anywhere else in the world. The quiet, the beauty, the undeveloped land, the marsh is a world away from hectic big city life. We feel like we're keeping the biggest secret. We love sharing this property with people who didn't realize such a treasure could still exist only an hour from the Savannah airport, 4 hours from Atlanta, less than 2 hours from Jacksonville.
Why they chose this property
There is no place like this on the Georgia Coast! The immense beauty of the tidal saltwater marsh. And the quiet! We didn't know quiet like this still existed. Sure, you'll hear the marsh hens laughing at you, the gurgle of the marsh itself, the breeze rippling through the huge oak trees and Spanish moss, but that is it. You can't even hear road noise from this special place.
Each level of the marsh tide brings different wildlife. It's like Mother Nature is constantly changing out her artwork.
During summer months we are gifted with a breeze off the Atlantic Ocean that can cool things off by 10-15 degrees. It's absolutely magic.
Every time we are here it feels like such a treat, like a step back in time, a chance to see paradise before they paved it and put up a parking lot.
What makes this property unique
There simply is no property like this on the entire Georgia Coast. Come enjoy this lovingly restored log cabin that sits on 7 private acres. The screened in porch is the best place in the state to catch the sunrise. The private dock is perfect for end of day Magic Hour, fishing, crabbing, birding, clear thinking.
