While it is possible to glimpse the mysterious floating lights of the Great Smoky Mountains at times, guests are more likely to experience their light in the glow of the campfire, the glimpse of a firefly, or the flash of light as the sun sets down the valley. The entire guesthouse is available for your use, along with 2 acres of creekside yard. Although quiet and somewhat secluded, it is only a ten-minute drive to downtown Franklin on paved roads with easy year-round access. No scary uphill 4-wheel driving up gravel ruts. Strategically located between Highland's upscale charm, Sylva's college town vibe of Western North Carolina University, and Cherokee's Harrah's Casino. Experience each season’s unique beauty: Amble through midsummer meadows to view elk, hike autumn-hued woods to one of 200+ waterfalls, or bask in the stillness of fresh winter snow. Whether your idea of adventure is biking through a national park, whitewater rafting, discovering rubies and sapphires, landing world-class trout, or just reading a book and sipping coffee around the fire pit under magical star-filled mountain skies, you’ll find it here. Little over an hour to Asheville, one of America's premier culinary and beer brewing capitals. Home to America's largest private residences, the Biltmore Estate. Come visit our Great Smoky Mountains. Relax, reconnect, and recharge. Experience your life when you stay with us and make mountain memories that will last a lifetime.
We offer unbeatable value! 30-40% less expensive than comparable Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge properties. No Tourist trap pricing in an authentic mountain town with genuine local hospitality. More activities per dollar at a fraction of resort costs. Join our family of guests who return year after year. Remember the perfect experience, not the perfectly maddening crowds.
We want you to enjoy the perfect Smoky Mountain experience, a remembrance of a lifetime. - We will respect your privacy, however, we do live on site in order to be available for help if needed. About the host
Hosted by Mary Susan Stowell
Mary is a retired Floridian who fell in love with the mountains of Western North Carolina. Mary was a founder of one of the top Dog Bakeries in America, Smoky Mountain Dog Bakery in Waynesville, NC, and is a huge dog lover. She bought this charming valley property with 360-degree mountain views after being snowed in for days in a mountain-top home. That can be a problem with the higher elevation homes. The property is 3 acres, bordered by a creek along the back. We have since remodeled the 1940 farmhouse, built a new guest cottage and a barndominium for ourselves. Room for our dog and a big chicken coop for a dozen chickens...No Rooster to wake anyone up though!
Why they chose this property
3 acres of flat creekside with mountain views in every direction, just minutes from downtown Franklin and short drives to so many fun places. Paved roads allow access all year long without 4-wheel drive and never a snow-in.
