We loved the cabin. It was perfect for the four of us and my infant granddaughter and had everything we needed. Little bit of a hike down to the river but the view was awesome!

Weekend getaway

The online pictures were great but the actual views even better! The cabin was cozy and relaxing which was perfect for our rainy weekend. We are looking forward to booking again in warmer weather so we can take advantage of the beautiful property and river.

Great place to run

My wife and I were celebrating 31 years of marriage. The cabin was very nice and very thoughtfully stocked with all the amenities you might need. We brought our Labrador with us. There was lots of space for him to run. The view was outstanding. It was very private and relaxing. We had a great time and we would definitely recommend the cabin to friends Joe & Laure

All we hoped for - and more!

The property is hilly, quiet and peaceful, an ideal setting for a relaxing getaway. The cabin itself exceeded our expectations. The interior of the cabin is beautifully decorated and the bed and furniture are very comfortable.The cabin is stocked with everything you might need - from kitchen items to books and games. The covered porches were a great place to relax and unwind, and our dog loved the property too!

2nd visit to Fireflies, both times to celebrate a wedding anniversary. Dog walks on the New River Trail and visited a couple nearby vineyards. This made for a relaxing weekend. Like last year, the deer are entertaining to watch and they nearly come onto the back porch.

Beatiful paradise in Heaven

I can express with words how fortunate we are to come and stay at Fireflies. This was our third time and we had a great time. Spend Christmas and New Years here. We enjoy our morning walks, fishing experience, and riding out our mini ATV. Kathie and Bill are just amazing host we look forward to come back perhaps in the summer time. Thank you for chocolate, muffins and of course of eggs they were delicious.

Wonderful Getaway!

Super relaxing and plum filled with serenity! An amazing property with a quiet comforts you only dream of! Extremely well stocked and owners were easily accessible, as I had a couple random questions. Newly built cabin...this place is a gem! Loved the New River as our closest neighbor. Patrick was great. Super unassuming and flexible, he responded well to our dog Coco and followed her lead smoothly. He's a sweetheart and is great with people and other dogs. Beautiful view...deer in view.... everything was fantastic!

Lovely cabin and hosts

The cabin is cozy, well-stocked, and very clean. The bed was comfortable and the couch reclined. The location by the river is beautiful, quiet, and has easy access to the New River Trail. We cycled during the day and relaxed in the evenings including a movie night and sitting by the fire pit (remarkably comfortable outdoor chairs too). The hosts had pumpkin muffins and fresh eggs waiting for us and immediately brought firewood when we asked. Wifi is very good. We streamed movies and music without any trouble. We also had it for calls (no cell signal in the area).

This was the perfect weekend getaway. Privacy, peace and quite. The cabin was very nice and super clean. I loved sitting on the back porch and fishing off the dock. The host left us some pumpkin, nut muffins that were to die for. I would absolutely recommend this to friends.

Everything was perfect! All of the little touches make it feel like home as soon as you walk in. The porch is amazing and my go-to spot to relax. We enjoyed fishing on the new dock and watching the baby deer in the yard. This was our 2nd time staying here and we can't wait to come back again!

We retired to the New River Valley in 2008 having lived in the southern portion of New Jersey. Kathie was an elementary school principal and Bill ran a small contracting business.

Why they chose this property

Bill and his father built the cabin in 2009. The cabin was designed and furnished with our future guests in mind. Our aim has always been to make our guests' stay relaxing. We make every effort to make Fireflies Cabin your home away from home.

What makes this property unique

The cabin has been designed and located on the property in such a way that you feel like you are far 'away from it all' while being only 5 miles from Interstate 81 and 800 feet off of route 100 (Wysor Highway).Our very own floating dock sits on the river in front of the cabin. It is great for fishing and swimming.
