We took our one year old and two year old on a weekend trip to the river and they absolutely loved it! The river access was great, we went swimming every day and fished in the river. They yard was huge! We enjoyed our short weekend on the river!
We really enjoyed our stay at Tranquility. The house is clean and well stocked for a weekend getaway. The kids had fun in the river and playing ping pong in the basement. The kitchen had everything we needed except a strainer (which wasn’t that big of a deal!) and the grill was clean. The location was perfect for us as we had friends camping at the horse campground next door. We enjoyed the new river trail. All in all a good spot!
Just loved staying here. Nice home with beautiful river views. Nice big yard. Great deck. The area is peaceful and quiet. We will rent this home again. Thanks to the hosts!

This is a house, not a cabin. Host very unhelpful
This unit is a house not a cabin. The host was very unhelpful when it came to us having issues.
The house is clean, spacious, and well kept. The property is quiet and offers a beautiful view. Lastly, there is a nice trail located near the property for hiking, biking, or running.
We loved this spot. The view was amazing and close to antique shops and the Hillsville Labor Day weekend flea market.
The cabin was clean, spacious, well mantained, and very comfortable.
We especially enjoyed the back porch which overlooked the New River.
Sitting, listening to the sounds of the river, allowed for a peaceful weekend to unwind and reset before heading back to the real world. Property was very clean and communication was excellent with the property owner.
We very much enjoyed our stay. The location is ideal for anyone looking to explore the beautiful New River Trail. The home is spacious and cozy with a lovely view of the river .The bed is comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. Great getaway !
We loved the house. It's a really nice property, long yard going back to the New River. The New River Trail access is just a few hundred yards up the gravel road. The owners were very friendly, answering my questions and being very helpful. Thanks, we'd love to stay again.
Overall, my old buddy and I had a terrific visit and were very satisfied with the location, the house, beds, setup and nearly every aspect. The hosts made checking in and out extremely easy, and they were easy to communicate with. They suffered flooding and damages from Helene less than 10 months ago. They have obviously worked hard and replaced HVAC and much more. The views and sounds are terrific. They offer good internet, nice tv's, comfy beds and all the things to make your visit simplified. I would only suggest that they need to replace some burned out floodlight and perhaps paint a yellow line across the edge of an easily overlooked step down on concrete. (A 70 yr old Buzzard like me has to watch where I step or falls could ruin a trip.) I would say have no worries about staying here. It's relatively convenient to Galax, Fries, Wytheville, even Blacksburg is not a difficult day trip.

Fabulous, Perfect Location
This cabin met all the requirements we needed for a weekend of cycling the trail. Central location on the trail, allowed us to go north and south without having to have a car shuttle.
the lawn was beautifully mown and the river was running high, made for a serene setting on the porch where we enjoyed 3 of our 5 meals.
Nice, peaceful setting on New River. Front of cabin faces New River Trail and back overlooks New River. Good location for cycling New River Trail. One direction leads to Draper (must eat at Mercantile) and the other to Fries and Galax. Plenty of cycling, walking, horseback or fishing options.
Hope to return in future.
Charming, spacious and peaceful. It was the perfect vacation for us. Loved spending every morning doing devotions on the deck overlooking the New River with a hot cup of coffee. Good restaurants, shopping and attractions close by, yet we were out in the country. During our stay, other vacationers began arriving with their horses for New River Trail riding and we got to "visit" with some of the horses. It was just wonderful. We didn't want to come home. Hoping to stay again soon!
The home was lovely. The setting was beyond anything I could have hoped for. It was right on the river. The area was really quiet. It was right near the New River Bike Trail. It was so peaceful.
The house was lovely. Very clean, larger than expected. It had everything I would need. Checkin and check out was easy. The homeowner was so nice. This home is perfect.
Great stay! Close to New River Trail (Ivanhoe entrance), stocked kitchen, pingpong table, cornhole in basement, firepit bring your own lighter fluid, and gas grill needs work. Owner has lots of board games but we brought our own to play indoors when we got bored. River is not wide and deep enough for fishing but it's cold anyway this time of the year. I prefer a cabin with a dock but hubby wants to come back to Shady River cabin in the summer. Fees are very reasonable and the owner's communication is great! Such a shame that the neighbor on the right got an ugly wide shed or barn partially blocking the best view of river and mountain. Overall. great.

Off the grid
The cabin was perfect for our family. Friendly owners, amazing river views & very easy access to both the river and trail. The house had lots of games, (including corn hole), comfortable beds, recliner seating in the sofa, lots of chanels on the tv and everything you could need for grilling or cooking in the kitchen. Love the open floorplan and the wrap-around porch. The small horse stables and campground next door added to the charm. The only negative was that we have Verizon phones and did not have cellular service, we also had issues connecting to wifi on our phones. There is a landline available. Highly recommend this cabin if your looking to relax and get away, fish, bike, hike or kayak.
Linda was a great communicator. She answered all my questions in a very timely manner. The large property is beautiful! Direct access to NEW RIVER is a huge bonus. It is situated in a charming and very quiet neighborhood. Just as described! There are two comfortable bedrooms with lots of storage. A bathroom with a space heater. A big great room with dining, living and kitchen areas. Including the basement, there are two refrigerators, two stove/ovens, ping pong table, plenty of seating, lots of counter space, storage, two bathrooms, washer & dryer, and many other thoughtful touches. Great location. I would gladly stay again!!!
