About this property

Brakeman's Bay - Charming Lakefront Studio - Wheelchair Accessible

Brakeman’s Bay is a charming, wheelchair-accessible studio cabin with lake views and a covered outdoor seating area.

Featuring a standing shower, the cabin also boasts a full kitchen with a fully functioning antique stove.

This unique space offers a tranquil escape with vintage flair, inspired by the Brakemen of the historic Southern Pacific Railroad.

The rail line is still active with trains coming through on average once a day. Our newly installed windows and doors are heavily insulated to minimize noise.

Cabins all include a desk and rolling chair for those needing creative inspiration or a quiet workspace. Complimentary wifi access and tranquil views make this spot an excellent spot to check-in for work.

Fishing on the lake includes coho salmon, steelhead trout, rainbow trout, largemouth bass, perch, bluegill, and catfish. The property offers easy access to our marina, pier, docks, and boat launch. Bring your jet ski, boat, kayak or other water vessels to enjoy the day or rent one of our kayaks for a small fee. We also have one pontoon boat for rent.

Other outdoor activities include foraging for mushrooms and berries (during the seasons). There are many nearby hikes for the trail enthusiast and the ocean is a short drive away. Nearby Florence offers shopping, riverfront restaurants, and other outdoor activities like waterfall hikes, crabbing, clamming, charter fishing, and more.

For the third year in a row we have spent a relaxing and fun week with our family at Siltcoos Station Retreats.

Brakeman's Bay is perfect for us, a retired couple with some physical limitations. Our host, Dannon ,and hostess, Jean, are always right there to help us with any needs and answer our questions. Plus each year they are working hard to make any improvements that they deem necessary. Thank you again for another wonderful week with our family at Siltcoos Station Retreats!!

Great Place

Nice and quiet, great view of the lake. It was fun staying in a place with modern appliances from way back when. We had a good time.

Peaceful Lake Retreat

Looking for a peaceful place to stay on the lake, while we saught out our new home, we had no idea what a gem we had stumbled onto! We arrived to find old world charm, everything we could need in the way of amenities and NO TV! Heaven! We spent the week exploring our new would be home area, playing on the lake and dreaming of a quieter way of life. We came looking for a home and found a community.

As you approach the property you see an unkept yard with broken down vehicles. Our luxury studio had large trash cans in front and 2 rusty boats. Our view from the room faced a cluttered backyard with a rusty tractor, railroad tracks, then the beautiful lake. We walked around the studios to try to get to the lake abd found more broken down vehicles and more non landscaped land. Behind our slay bed was a wall of spider webs. While laying in the bed you can hear everything your neighbor does in their restroom. This property also holds an additional 300- security charge from your card and holds that for 3 business days after you check out. I requested an early return of that money.
The view fron your luxury studio.
More of what you see from your only view.
In front of our room where you park and your view from the kitchen window.

Hosts were great- very friendly and accomodating.

We were greeted as we drove up and welcomed to the property. Dan and Jean were both friendly, helpful and available! One of the most fun rooms we've ever stayed in with so many interesting items. We will return!

A real gem!

Brakeman's Bay cabin is appointed with lots of amenities, everything you need for two, while enjoying the antique railroad themed decor. The ultimate relaxation place with a gorgeous setting, clean and quiet. Comfortable queen bed and shower was great. The cabin is nestled beside a beautiful, stunning lake view with birds and wildlife close by. It was wonderful to be able to utilize the canoe for a paddle on Siltcoos Lake! Thank you for sharing your cabin with us and we look forward to visiting again! Highly recommend this place!

Fun Lake Getaway Retreat

Charming row of erstwhile railway workers cottages steps from the lake, with the added bonus of an occasional train passing by. Full-size kitchen has an array of appliances but make sure you bring some groceries …the drive to town is 23 minutes and you wouldn’t wanted want to do it after dark.. We used both the canoe and the kayaks made available to guests… We would come back again…it was a neat experience.

Night at the Museum

Our stay at the Siltcoos Station was a remarkable experience that transported us back in time. It's the closest you can get to spending a night at a train museum. Dan and Jean have done an exceptional job recreating the ambiance of an old train station, complete with functional antique appliances and furniture. The rich history of the Siltcoos Station spans over a century, and Dan is a knowledgeable source to learn more. The cabin's tranquil interior, despite being next to operational train tracks, ensures a peaceful stay. The picturesque Siltcoos Lake and boat dock are just a stone's throw away, with kayaks and a canoe provided. Fishing docks near the cabin and Nightingale's Fishing Camp offer excellent angling opportunities. For exploring the Oregon coast, Dan can provide insights into attractions and activities. Our unforgettable stay had all the comforts needed. Nearby Florence offers groceries and great dining options.

A real slice of history!

This cabin really takes you back... from a working percolator coffee maker, toaster, & stove, to the super cute blowdryer! Breakman's quarters is an end unit, & has a large, modern walkin shower. Nice water pressure. Kitchen has a working retro-looking fridge & microwave. Easy to access door code & ice available onsite. We enjoyed the view of the lake from the dining table & the adirondack chairs on the lawn. Its August, so many plants & grass have died back, & no train went by on our visit. Fun walk down to the dock. Swollows nesting above the cabin, & the baby birds were a delight. Roasted marshmallows on the propane firepit on the deck & grilled steaks on the BBQ grill. No tv, wifi strong... it was so nice to turn off my notifications & enjoy the quiet. Great base for exploring of surrounding areas including old town Florence. Its a quick 6 miles to the cabin, all paved, as long as you follow the signs for the Nightengale's fishing camp, which is just before the cabins. Overall, a real slice of history.
