Beautiful lake, comfortable cottage, loved the separate cabin, plenty of bedrooms for our family & we all loved the space outdoors to play family games and swim. The mosquitoes were terrible in the evenings though. They chased us inside, couldn’t enjoy a campfire very long. The only suggestions we have is to have the porch re-screened and a way to keep the bugs out of the house, especially at night along with having all of the windows screened so the living room and kitchen don’t get so hot, especially with humid days. The owners did stop by a couple of times, once was necessary as there was a septic issue. But the other time they stopped by didn’t seem necessary. The owners were very friendly & helpful when the septic acted up. We would definitely rent this lake house again!

A great vacation!

This was a great vacation! We had some trouble with the rocks in the water. One of our group was on a board and he fell off and onto a rock with his knee - he was seen at the hospital and the injury was already infected - the doctor feels that is from the coating on the rocks. For him, it wasn’t fun to be on crutches and he had quite a bit of pain. A couple others injured their feet on the rocks. We were surprised that the owners came out twice while we were there - not sure why they came during our stay rather than on cleaning day. Just seemed, to all of us, to be inappropriate. It was wonderful to really relax. The inside of the house is decorated nicely and almost everything you may need, is supplied. So glad I found this place for my family to reunite and totally enjoy our time together!

We rented this house on Lake Waukewan with our four adult children and 4 grandchildren, all under 6 yrs. The location was great, quiet yet right near downtown Meredith and not far from Weir's Beach. This house has a nice little beach area for the young ones. There were plenty of beds for everyone and they were fairly comfortable. The kitchen was well-stocked with pots and pans and utensils. Please note that this house DOES NOT have air conditioning. Most of the windows did not have screens so they could not be opened. There are ceiling fans in most of the rooms so that was helpful. However, in the heat of summer, with no A/C, the house could be uncomfortable. Although the house was superficially clean, it could definitely use a deep clean which it probably hasn't had in years. We bought Zevo bug traps as there were quite a number of gnats in the house but the traps were very effective and eliminated the gnats within 2 days. The rental agent, Gail of Break Away Rentals, was extremely responsive to us when we called with several issues. She returned my call right away and came right over to see how she could assist. I really can't say enough about how great she was. Overall, this is a cute house with a lot to offer and we did enjoy ourselves. If the owners of the house would just add screens or get new windows, and do a deep clean, it would be perfect. Thank you to Gail from Break Away Rentals for all of her assistance.
