I live in downtown Oroville just catty corner to this historic home and am passionate about the preservation of our historic treasures. I love meeting new people and exploring unique downtowns to celebrate the individual creativity on display in the residents and business owners.

Why they chose this property

Historic Downtown Oroville really does stand out as one of the more intact Gold Rush–era downtowns in Northern California. The combination of preserved Victorian architecture, compact walkability, and locally owned businesses gives it a character that’s increasingly rare in small towns.

The downtown’s concentration of antique stores, vintage shops and boutiques adds to the appeal. The historic core is a compact area very browseable on foot compared with many small California towns where businesses are more spread out.

What makes Oroville especially distinctive is that the residential Victorian district and the commercial core are still closely connected. In many historic towns, those areas became separated by highways, parking lots, or later redevelopment. Here, you can still walk naturally from historic homes to cafés, restaurants, and shops in just a few blocks.

What makes this property unique

1875 Gothic Victorian recently restored in downtown Oroville, walking distance to the shops, restaurants, and the historic State Theater.
