My crew and I had a great stay at the Treetop Waterfront retreat. The house was in excellent conditions and waterfront views were perfect. Will definitely be staying here again if in the area.
This is our second stay at River Retreat. Love it! House is wonderful - clean, spacious, and well-appointed. We enjoy spending time on the peaceful porch overlooking the river, listening to the wind in the trees. Loved the new steps down to the field next to the water. The host is very responsive. This is just a fabulous place to stay. I'm sure we will be back again.

We are so glad you loved the River Retreat! We would love to have yall back anytime 😄
Our stay at this riverfront property was absolutely wonderful! The decor was charming and thoughtfully designed, making the space feel cozy yet spacious. The location is breathtaking, with stunning views of the river and plenty of room for the kids to run around and play games. They especially loved exploring the outdoor area by the river, which was a highlight of our trip. The host was incredibly kind and easy to work with, ensuring everything went smoothly. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and can’t wait to come back!
This was the perfect place for my husband and adult children and their friends to relax together and celebrate graduations! Everything was neat. There were plenty of activities to do. They loved the pool table and all the TVs to watch the Olympics on. This is a great place to stay in the owners even Had a personal new and gift bag for The guys when they arrived!
Had a great girls weekend in this gorgeous river house nestled in the woods. Soooooo quiet…. awesome spot for nature lovers & bird watchers. The home was immaculate with plenty of space for us six gals to stretch out. Highly recommend!! Will keep this spot in mind in the future. Two thumbs up!!👍👍
We stayed at the property with 8 adults and it was everything expected. Fantastic family amenities and games, ample indoor and outdoor gathering spaces. The trail down to the river is nicely laid out and lighted. Pool table, frisbee golf and fire pit was enjoyed by all. Owners are super helpful and responsive. Beds and indoor living spaces are comfortable and spread out to allow different groups to do their own things at different times making multi family visits a pleasure! Highly recommend!!!
We enjoyed the space as a group. Made use of the grill, fire pit and outdoor area below throwing horseshoes.
Felt a little guilty using the firepit, the house sits up top so you are literally at the tree top canopy where the birds come in the evening to rest.
Wonderful place to relax, some of our group saw deer and an also an armadillo and possum fighting. Five Stars! The owner was wonderful and made herself available. Great place to stay!
We stayed for three nights to get together with our adult children because this was midway between all of us. We had the most amazing weekend! We spent every morning watching the sun come up on the back porch and listening to the hundreds of singing birds that make you feel like you're in a rainforest or a jungle. We stayed busy all weekend between disc golf challenges, pool tournaments, and board games. The house is pretty secluded and we never saw another person the whole time we were there. However, we were close enough to town that we were able to get food delivered one evening. I can't say enough great things about this house and we will absolutely be renting it again in the future.
The River Retreat was a great place to spend a few days with my father and adult brothers Galway between Charlotte and Augusta. Melinda (host) made the entire experience easy, from check-in to check-out. The property is beautiful, right on the banks of the Broad River, 20 minutes outside Columbia. The house itself was very clean, fully functional with great inside and outside accommodations for enjoying our time there. Would highly recommend both the property and host for a quiet accomodation on a beautiful and scenic plot of land. Had everything we needed as a base for a great weekend of golf, comraderie, and only 70 minute drive to Augusta.

We were very disappointed that the river was not easily accessible. The path to the river was dangerous. There was a place you could drive and have access run around the corner, but the river was a big drop down. We were thinking and hoping that the river was more accessible than that we can ask for more friendly host. we were just disappointed that it was pretty expensive for nothing to do.

Hey Connie, I’m sorry y’all were disappointed the river was not accessible as we currently do not have a dock. We are looking into getting a dock but yes currently if you fish it is from the shore. There is a local fishing guide that lives beside us and several times has used our land to fish from the shore as our river is famous for small mouth bass and there is such exclusive access. There are two ways to access the river from the house 1) from the trail 2) you can actually drive down as you say and go straight thru to a flat field if you are older and walking down hill is an issue. The drop down you wouldn’t want to access is at the rivers edge itself. Besides fishing there is frisbee golf, horse shoes, corn hole, picnic table, fire pit, pool table, salon, game closet, 4 acre river front access with a football sized field, river viewing with the beautiful birds and nature to soak in, as well as, being close to several attractions and restaurants in town. We also spoke and texted multiple times where you thanked me for the personalized welcome gift for your family and for answering all your questions and being a good host and I wish you would have mentioned your disappointment in the river access then as most properties on VRBO are run by property management companies that don’t care as much but this is our livelihood so we try and go above and beyond from making sure our place is super clean to answering any questions quickly, to being available when needed, and also leaving a special welcome gift/note to help make guests experience top notch. This is the first review I have ever got that is not five star so it makes me sad it’s for something like a dock that would provide different river access that you were expecting that we do not currently advertise for and hope it does not hurt our small family business.
I am seldom speechless, but I have spent the better part of a day trying to figure out how to accurately write up our feelings for this property. And I'm still not sure I'll get it right, so I'll sum it up this way: We loved it here, we did not want to leave, and we've been trying all day to dream up ways we can visit again.
This was a new listing when we booked it, and VRBOers know thats always a bit of a risk. But right off the bat things that seemed like they could've been too good to be true were proven to be wonderfully accurate. We arrived to a lovely welcome gift and a warm, loving note from our hosts! From there, we quickly found that the house is absolutely gorgeous, overlooking the Broad River from a tree-lined hill. You can eat breakfast among the birds in the trees, then take the short walk down to the river's overlook. (I saw an eagle and several turtles there and was thrilled.)
When you've had enough of the outdoors you can return and enjoy some billiards, play a guitar, watch a movie on the massive TV, or perhaps cut your kids' hair in the salon. You read that right, there is an actual hair salon on the lower floor. What a fun and creative use of that space!
The whole time we were there we felt like we were "home." I had the opportunity to chat with the hostess, who was an absolute treasure and went out of her way to welcome us and treat us as family. We were quite sad to leave...but we'll be back!

What makes this property unique
This is a one of kind property. It is waterfront and has the privacy that the lake can never have because it is so overcrowded. This is glorious nature at its best in a house that has it all.
