Warm welcome from Tshen and William! Thank you for choosing Little Maple House as your getaway destination. We're thrilled to have you as our guests and would like to share our story with you.

We made the move to Burlington in 2016 after spending years as architects in bustling cities. Burlington drew us in with its natural surroundings and unique charm. Over time, we fell in love with this vibrant city’s delightful blend of rich history and natural beauty.

Burlington's rich history, from the American Revolution to its current focus on organic farming, sustainability and liberal politics, embodies quintessential American values.

In 2018, we became the proud owners of the Little Maple House. We named our house after the baby maple tree we planted right after moving in. Originally built in 1869, Little Maple House required serious renovations. We dedicated years (and continuously) to renovate and restore from the inside out. And, now we are excited to share it with you. During the pandemic, we embarked on designing a new structure in the back, which includes a garage and a guesthouse. It took us two years to construct the new building. The two structures are now connected by a greenhouse structure.

Our design concept merges the old and the new, honoring the past while embracing contemporary aesthetics. The main house exudes timeless charm, while the modern addition reflecting the complexity, imaginativeness, and forward-looking nature of the contemporary era we live in.

We personally occupy the guesthouse. You may encounter us working around the house or tending to the gardens from time to time. However, we highly respect your privacy and ensure that no owner interaction is necessary. You are welcome to engage with us if you wish or simply disregard our activities based on your preferences.

Ultimately, our objective is to provide you with a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Sincerely yours,
Tshen & William
