We had a wonderful stay in this spacious unit. The location is fantastic and convenient to restaurants, coffee shops, and recreation. We would stay here again.
Pete, the owner is incredibly kind and communicative! The location is excellent and in a safe, family friendly neighborhood. The apartment is clean, comfortable and relaxing. Will definitely stay here again when we return to Texas!
Absolutely beautiful and spacious light-filled apartment. I loved the place and Pete really consistently goes out of his way to make sure you're comfortable and happy. Also, responds really quickly.I'd recommend the apartment in any circumstance, for a weekend in Austin or a 3 month stay. if I could, I'd take the apartment with me for my next move!
Just my wife and I, for 2 of us it was big, well equipped, plentiful space. Heater and AC worked well (and we needed both on this trip).
Neighborhood quiet, safe and convenient to downtown & the Capitol area.
Would happily stay here again
Had a wonderful stay in this historic Hyde Park home.
Super safe and family friendly vibes in one of the coolest neighborhoods in Austin.
Unit had great lighting and was nicely appointed across the board.
Pete provided a superlative, hassle free stay.
Thanks Pete!
We had a wonderful time during our stay. The location was very nice, in an interesting neighborhood for walking, and an easy walk to central market, a Starbucks, parks, and other sites. The apartment was very clean, in good condition, and comfortable. Pete answered any text message in just a few minutes. I would certainly stay here again.
The only caution is that the claw foot tub is quite high, and a person who is shorter in stature or has balance issues might find it difficult to use.
The place was perfect! All the amenities that the Pete describes are there. Super comfortable house and the AC and heat are great. I came in Jan/Feb and it’s Texas so the AC and Heat both were needed. 70s one week, 40s the next and the house always felt amazing. I also had to work while I was there so the Google fiber that I hear about was awesome. We don’t have this in Boston so it’s one of the few times the internet was faster than my own home.
Location! – I was looking to be in the city, but not IN the city. Hyde Park was perfect. I could either do a 5 minute Uber ride or just walk 20 mins directly south and I’d be right at UT and close to the middle of Austin. Made exploring the city so very easy. If I didn’t want to venture downtown, there were many bars and restaurants within a few minutes walk right around the house so it was perfect. Bartenders were very fun and very cool about telling you about Austin and other places to go. In fact, going to miss a few of them.
One big thing for me, and this might night be as important to other renters, but this was my first time ever doing a VRBO. So I was always a bit nervous with the whole process. Pete made this SO easy for me and answered all questions I had and made the entire process not seem as scary as I thought it would be. If you’ve never done this before, he’s a great guy and will help you out.
Overall, so very happy and would absolutely rent again, or at least, rent another one of his properties.
Happy travels!
This rental property is quite spacious, given that it has a separate office (or sitting room) in addition to the bedroom. It is located in a very convenient neighborhood, that is one of the few walkable neighborhoods in Austin. Clean, convenient, and an easy check-in—what more could you ask for?
Cute apartment with lots of light. Great neighborhood with lots of places to eat and shop in easy walking distance. Pete is great at responding to queries and suggestions. We enjoyed our stay!
The unit was comfortable, we'll set up, and in a wonderful location for walking. Owner was extremely quick to respond to messages. We had a great stay.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, location
Spartan rental
Location perfect for us. Daughter and family one block away. Good eateries nearby. HEB grocery only five min drive. Furnishings and supplies spartan. Felt like I was back in UsMC barracks. Layout of rental bizarre. Enter into living area, but go through master bedroom to kitchen and then to second bedroom and The only bathroom. Bathroom tiny. Shower awkward. If more than 2 people in rental, would be uncomfortable. Owners need to provide some coasters so drinks don’t ring tables. We did not cook/eat, but would have had to buy everything. All other rentals we have used provide good stock of basics. Laundry not in the house but in garage. It is very inconvenient. Except for location, would not consider renting this property again.

Response from VrboOwner on 31 Mar, 2020
I'm glad you found the location convenient and accessible to local amenities. It's something we love about the location too, which is why we also live in the neighborhood. However, I'm sorry to hear you were left with a poor impression of the home, but I am bit puzzled because it has always been well-loved by our visitors as the other reviews show and everything that you mentioned is described in the listing for anyone to see before making a reservation. I will try to address all your concerns, but I encourage every guest to let me know if they have any issues during their stay and I can almost always do something to help. Unfortunately, these things weren't brought to my attention until after your stay when it was too late for me to remedy anything. You described the furnishings as "spartan," but we intentionally decorated with rest and relaxation in mind, keeping the design clean, uncluttered, and modern. It's exactly as it's shown in the pictures, so certainly nothing misleading and can be seen by anyone before making a booking. Regarding the layout, we know that it is unique, which is why the layout is clearly described in the description section of the listing so everyone can be aware of it before booking. You said that you felt it would be uncomfortable for more than 2 people, but the maximum number of people for this listing is 2 people. Instead of coasters, we purposefully bought glass-topped or metal-topped tables in the bedrooms and living room so that guests would not have to worry about water/drinks making marks. I'm a bit confused at the statement "we would have had to buy everything" to cook and eat, because there are plates, silverware, cooking utensils, mugs, pots and pans, etc. You do have to purchase your own food, similar to other vacation rentals. The laundry is in a shared space (in the garage), which is also stated in the listing. Again, I'm sorry to hear you were left with a negative impression of the home during your stay.
Pete was responsive and caring. This apartment neat and full of light. The neighborhood Hyde Park a dream. I’ll be coming back in just a couple of weeks.

Excellent
Great place and perfect location as central to everything. Neighborhood is quiet and interesting. Another light in the LR would be helpful and perhaps a night light in the bathroom. Would definitely recommend this place as a quiet retreat where you can relax and enjoy Austin and the surrounding countryside. 😊

Clean and comfortable
This is a clean, comfortable and functional property that is reasonably priced. It is conveniently located, 15 minutes from most of the places we wanted to visit. It is 1/3 of a house with it's own living room, bed room, kitchen/breakfast area, study (with a day bed) and a bathroom. Pete is a great host, quickly responding to all questions and few issues we countered during our stay. Bath room is bit small, especially for two people. Outside is not as well maintained as the inside but Pete told us it is his next "project".

Lovely!
Honestly, you can’t go wrong with any of the properties that the owner has! The homes are well kept and the beds are comfortable. I stay in Austin at least 5-6 times a year, I am so glad I found this place. Hyde Park is a great area to stay in.

Lovely, roomy place to relax
This old house has been completely renovated inside. It was very roomy and comfortable for the 3 of us during the winter. It has a comfy heating system. We loved the combination of the historical feel with the modern comforts.

Perfect location. Darling neighborhood
We had an outstanding 4 night stay. The property is on a wonderful, tree-lined street with great surroundings. The unit is spacious, historical and comfortable. We walked to the University of Texas for the football game and enjoyed seeing the houses along the way. Uber rides to downtown were quick and affordable, so I would highly recommend this location and this unit. Nothing but great things to say. Thank you Pete, you're a great host!

My wife and I live in Austin in Hyde Park and love the area. If you have any questions about things to do here or restaurants to eat at, we'd love to help!
Why they chose this property
Hyde Park is a quiet neighborhood near downtown Austin. It's great having access to everything downtown and central Austin has to offer and then come home to a quiet neighborhood.
