Zilker Serenity! Treetop deck, king bed. Walk to Barton Springs, dining & music.
Located in Zilker, one of Austin's most charming, walkable and convenient neighborhoods, La Serena is secluded and peaceful. A mix of treasured vintage cottages, historic mansions, restored ramblers and sleek modern showplaces, the Zilker neighborhood is picturesque, interesting, friendly and fun. If you're in the habit of an evening stroll, come out. Our streets are quiet and walkable, the neighbors enjoy visiting, taking the dog around the block, checking out the progress of the latest new buildings. Join us and live La Vida Local in Zilker!
La Serena is nestled among centuries old Live Oaks, the building was architect-designed and purpose-built for guests. No other living units are in the building. Up the stairs is an open landing leading to the screened deck high in the tree-tops. What a great place for morning coffee or an evening libation! Double Marvin glass doors open to combine the living area and deck creating an inviting indoor-outdoor space. High ceilings, white oak hardwood floors, granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, contemporary furnishings and abundant natural light grace the interior. The bright spa bath has plenty of gorgeous granite counter top space, dual under mount sinks, under counter drawers, cabinets and a large mirror. The over-sized shower is enclosed by a frameless glass door and outfitted with Kohler Purist shower head, a balance bar, foot rests and a product niche. Fluffy white towels and a selection of soaps are handy.
The well-lit bedroom boasts a king-size bed and high quality linens; wall-mounted reading lamps are within easy reach. Room darkening window coverings encourage lazy mornings! No need to live out of a bag; a roomy closet and ample shelf space lets you unpack and relax! Google fiber internet and smart TV. Remote controlled mini-split units provide quiet and comfortable heating and cooling. The kitchen is equipped with microwave oven, coffee maker, blender, dishes and cookware, German-made Blomberg dishwasher and gas range. I've placed coffee, sweetener and creamer on the countertop to get you started your first morning. You'll notice the mini-island with micro in the kitchen area. One of my best ideas: it's on wheels! Move it around to serve as a pass-through counter from the kitchen window to the deck, put it at the corner of the kitchen for extra prep space, place against the dining room wall for a handy bar. The full-sized refrigerator has lower drawer freezer. The glass top table is a perfect size for casual dining as well as for spreading out a map or taking care of paperwork.
La Serena has an 8x10' storage and laundry exclusively for you. Bring your bikes, your golf clubs, your sports stuff. This windowless room has an electronic lock, houses a washer & dryer and space to keep items you don't want underfoot. Parking is off-street on a concrete drive; a dedicated walkway leads to La Serena.
A City alley runs behind the property. This means an extra measure of privacy since no back yards are directly behind you. A short walk down the hill to Barton Springs Road you'll find the #30 bus stop. Check the Capital Metro web site, capmetro.org for maps and schedules. Our bus, #30, goes downtown; hop off at the 4th St stop to be in the thick of things downtown. Lots of times we don't bother with car or parking to go to Pecan Street Festival or try the newest watering hole downtown.

Why they chose this property
Zilker is a classic and prized vintage neighborhood. The main house is 86 years old - a 1930's bungalow typical of the era. A few years ago friends who had never been here came to stay. They took an early morning walk and came back, "It's like a little old Texas town here!" True, the gardens are lush, lots of flowers, huge Live Oak trees. I'm a serial re-modeler, so the place is little different from when I bought it. A few years ago I discovered that building is even more exciting than remodeling. For me a crowning achievement was the opportunity to build La Serena. The process was fascinating and fun! My architect and builder did a great job. What I didn't expect is that they would build that mellow Austin Vibe into this place. My guests come up here and don't want to leave - it's that sweet. Hence the name, La Serena, because it really is.
What makes this property unique
