About the host
Hosted by Feras Alkurabi
I grew up in the heart of the city, surrounded by buildings, traffic, and a constant buzz of activity. Nature wasn’t part of my everyday life — it was something distant, something I only saw in postcards or movies. It wasn’t until much later that I truly discovered the peace, simplicity, and grounding beauty of the natural world. That discovery changed everything.
Hosting became my way of sharing that experience with others — to give people a chance to slow down, reconnect with the outdoors, and savor quiet moments they don’t get enough of in their daily lives. I now manage a collection of unique lakefront properties throughout Maine, and every one of them is designed with thoughtfulness, comfort, and charm. Whether it’s waking up to the sound of loons, soaking in a private hot tub under the stars, or simply enjoying coffee by the water, I want each guest to leave feeling more rested, more inspired, and more connected — to nature, to each other, and even to themselves.
This work is deeply personal to me. I pour my heart into every property and every guest experience. From the layout and design to the small details that make a stay memorable, I want people to feel cared for and at home. For me, hosting is about creating spaces where guests feel welcome, appreciated, and surrounded by beauty. It’s about giving others the kind of escape I never knew I needed — until I found it for myself.
Why they chose this property
The Belgrade Lakes area is one of Maine’s most beloved regions, and for good reason. We chose this neighborhood because it captures everything we wanted to offer in a lakeside retreat: true peace, timeless natural beauty, and direct access to some of the state’s most scenic and sought-after lakes — including Great Pond, Belgrade Stream, and Messalonskee Lake.
Our properties here sit right on the water — not nearby, not across the street — directly on the shoreline, with sweeping lake views, private docks, and immediate access to swimming, paddling, or just enjoying the quiet from a deck or hammock. There’s a sense of stillness in Belgrade you can’t describe until you experience it. The water is calm, wildlife is everywhere — from loons and herons to deer and the occasional eagle — and the sunsets are unforgettable.
We also love that this area offers a perfect balance: you’re surrounded by nature, yet just a short drive from great restaurants, local shops, farmer’s markets, and trails. The Belgrade Lakes village is charming and authentic, with a strong community feel and a slower pace that makes everything feel more personal.
We chose this neighborhood because it allows guests to truly unplug, recharge, and feel like they’re part of something special — not just on vacation, but immersed in the quiet, natural rhythm of Maine lake life.
What makes this property unique
Sunset Chalet isn’t just a place to stay — it’s a peaceful waterfront escape where guests reconnect with nature, each other, and themselves. Whether it’s a romantic weekend, a celebration, or a much-needed reset, the chalet has become a go-to retreat for those seeking beauty, privacy, and comfort.
Set right on the water with stunning views, guests consistently describe the space as cozy, quiet, and thoughtfully designed. The layout is efficient yet warm, with a fireplace to gather around, a private hot tub for stargazing, and spaces that invite deep rest — from the recliners by the window to the hammocks outside. Wildlife sightings, morning coffee on the deck, and kayaking right from the shoreline all add to the charm.
What makes it truly special, though, is the intention behind every detail and the genuine care we extend to each guest. We take pride in making sure everything feels easy, welcoming, and just right — every time.
