About this property
One Of Belgrade Lakes Best Kept Secrets, Very Private & 10 Feet From Waters Edge
As you enter the private gated entrance to The Cottage On Ingham Pond and descend through our fields, you will be in awe at the most picturesque vista in the Belgrade Lakes area. So beautiful a sight that it has been featured twice in Down East magazine.
Located 10 feet from the waters edge on pristine Ingham Pond, The Cottage On Ingham Pond offers easy boating access to Long Pond and Belgrade Lakes Village. A kayakers heaven!! Standup paddle boarder's heaven!! Fisherman's heaven!!. We have a lot to offer. Comfortable, cozy, peaceful, private, bright and cheery with all the amenities best describes The Cottage On Ingham Pond. The western exposure provides awesome sunsets across the water.
Tastefully decorated to sleep 8 with a first floor queen size bedroom. The second floor has 2 bedrooms. One bedroom has a full size bed located directly under a large skylight so that you can enjoy the starry nights. The other bedroom offers a full size bed and bunk beds.
Spacious first floor bathroom with a shower. An outside privy is also in place if so desired. The open floor plan with large windows includes the kitchen, dining area and family room with a Direct TV flat screen. WIFI is in place and can be utilized while sitting in the Adirondack chairs on the large T shaped dock or in one of the hammocks.
We have a deep drilled well that provides some of the best cold drinking water that you ever drank. No need to buy bottled water. Linens and towels are provided along with a washing machine and dryer for your personal use.
There is a covered front porch and a large screened porch. The screened porch has a table with chairs and rocking chairs so that you can enjoy the evenings outside bug free listening to the loons and owls. Every year Ingham Pond is home to a loon family that likes to hang out in front of The Cottage and entertain our guests. WE STRICTLY FORBID JET SKIES AND WAKEBOARD BOATS. For your boating and swimming pleasure we offer 2 kayaks, 1 canoe and a swim float. Fishing boats can be rented from Castle Island Camps, phone 207-495-3312 and Central Maine Boat And RV Rentals, phone 207-931-8820. If you bring your own boat you can launch it at the public boat launch on Long Pond and take the scenic cruise down Long Pond and Ingham Stream back to The Cottage.
Ingham Pond is a prized fishing area known for its large Pike, Large and Small Mouth Bass and Black Crappie. The record Black Crappie for the State of Maine was caught in Ingham Pond in 2013!
Smoking is not allowed inside any of our buildings. Any butts must be disposed of in the outside fireplace. Besides the outside fireplace and woodshed there is a charcoal grill for barbequing.
While staying at The Cottage On Ingham Pond, you should go up to the field on a clear night and check out the Milky Way Galaxy. It will appear directly overhead and is really something to see.
Centrally located on the several hundred acres of our property, we offer vast undisturbed water frontage and miles of private gravel roads, trails and breath taking views to make your Maine stay memorable.
IF YOU CARE TO SUPPLY YOUR OWN TOWELS AND SHEETS, PLEASE LET US KNOW AHEAD OF TIME AND WE WILL DEDUCT $200 FROM YOUR RENTAL FEE.

About the host
Hosted by Roger & Elaine Karabin
I grew up coming to this area for vacations. My father and uncle bought the old Ingham Farm in 1953 which was about a mile from the Cottage. Every summer vacation and long weekends we traveled up from Connecticut to be here. My wife and I grew up in Plainville, CT. We married in September, l981. Having an appreciation for preserving old things we purchased a 1780 Cape in Plymouth, Ct that needed much restoration and tender loving care. The labor of love began and continued in Maine with the purchase of the Cottage. 'Work details' with friends and family were ongoing through holiday weekends and vacation time. Everyone contributed their talents combining outings and pleasure with everything we experienced. The camaraderie of our friends and family runs deep in the fabric of the Maine experience and what made the Cottage such a special place. We began renting the Cottage in 1994 during the months of July and August. Many families return each year making their own special memories. They thank us for sharing a piece of heaven and that they feel like they are coming home. Now that we are retired, we spend a great deal of time year round at our other home on Ingham Pond.
Why they chose this property
When I purchased the Cottage in 1975 it did not look anything like it looks today. After getting married in 1981 we started to fix it up. We had no power or running water and the only way to get to it was by boat. We hauled everything by boat. Food, water, propane for the gas lights and gas refrigerator, along with runs to the emergency room were all done by boat. Many times these trips were made at night in the fog and rain. Some of the best northern lights sightings we experienced were spotted on clear nights during these trips. Once our sons arrived we purchased the property behind us and decided to build a road and bring in power. That was in 1991. The following year the old camp was dismantled [except the front wall where the picture window is located]. We designed and built the present day cottage.
The fields that you travel through on the way to the Cottage were not there when we purchased the property. It was all woods. An ole timer told us that when he was a kid the entire side of the hill was pasture and that the view was fabulous. So in 1994 we clear cut the land and brought it back to fields. This was a massive undertaking but the finished product was well worth it. Through the years we acquired adjacent properties to increase our holdings and prevent any potential development.
In 2001 we purchased an old camp to the east of the Cottage. We dismantled the old camp and designed and built an Adirondack style home on the site. This is a year round home and home to our youngest son. We all greatly enjoy the peace and serenity of the Ingham Pond area.

What makes this property unique
One cannot fully explain all the benefits that the Cottage has to offer. You really have to experience being here. One feature that our guests like, is the ability to be able to drive right up to the Cottage. For someone with difficulty walking, being able to walk in from the driveway without any steps is a plus along with a first floor bedroom and bathroom. This is why we have many guests that have returned every year for the past 15-20 years!! 2015 was our first year advertizing with VRBO.
