About the host
Hosted by Jennifer Calderone
Welcome to our home! Ralph and Judy are retired educators from New Jersey. (Ralph wants to personally meet and greet guests upon their arrival. If you are tired from your travel day, just want to relax as you settle in or are rushed to get out for dinner please just say you don’t have time to talk! He will respect your privacy.). They have owned the property for over 45 years, moving to the property full-time 27 years ago. They would not consider living anywhere else! They are at their happiest when their 3 adult children, 12 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchild visit!
Over the early years, Ralph created a great many custom art pieces of stained glass. Many of which were incorporated into their home and guesthouse. Many others were custom crafted as gifts to their children for their specific homes. True stewards to the MDI community, volunteering their time over the years to serve on a local board of directors for developmentally handicapped adults and children.
Their youngest daughter, Jennifer, will be managing the rental property, so they can sit back and enjoy the fruits of their labor! You may see Ralph tending to his gardens, or Judy running her errands. Feel free to say hello or ask questions, otherwise they will respect your privacy.
Why they chose this property
We were first attracted to Mount Desert Island in 1972 when we visited the island with 3 young children. We especially enjoyed hiking and biking the carriage trails, climbing the many mountain trails, swimming in both Echo Lake and Sand Beach and picking wild blueberries! Judy and I bought this property over 40 years ago and retired here in 1998. We are wholly blessed in our life together and love the tranquility of the property.
Enjoy your stay in our guest home and have your cameras ready!
