About this property
Oceanfront Maine Acadia Cottage
Tidal Ledge has a beautiful and secluded contemporary Atlantic seacoast design that blends perfectly into the Maine landscape. It’s exceptional location offers the quintessential Maine experience.
For the comfort of all guests and to maintain the condition of our home, we do not allow pets under any circumstances.
The main living area boasts floor to ceiling glass windows offering 180 degree views of the ocean. This home is well appointed with everything you expect to find in your own home to include a fully stocked kitchen, luxurious turkish bath towels, and comfortable high thread count sheets. For your convenience a washer and dryer are also available in the home.
The layout makes this house easy to move around with only one floor to include two spacious bedrooms each with a queen size bed, and one spacious bathroom. The house has a large 75 inch flat screen television with Roku streaming available, and the wifi maintains a strong signal. For cool nights a beautiful gas log fireplace warms the house. Note: Due to the proximity to the ocean and high decks, Tidal Ledge is only suited for adults with children aged 16 or older.
Grab your chairs or blanket to walk over to the Frenchman Bay Conservancy sponsored Summer Monday evening concerts that make for a fun evening. These fun concerts are located within walking distance from the house, or you can take in the concert from the comfort of the large back deck.
Tidal Ledge sits next to a nature preserve that highlights some of the most exceptional viewings of Maine wildlife. It is not unusual to frequently see bald eagles, harbor seals and a wide cross section of bird species flying about, all seen from the privacy of the back lawn. At night, sit by the Oceanside fire pit taking in views of the Milky Way. Take a stroll in the morning down to the shoreline with a cup of coffee, and in July and August pick wild blueberries on property for your breakfast pancakes.
If your looking for a nice dinner out, look no further than the 4 star restaurants available in the area. Chippers, Ironbound, and Crocker House Country Inn are all within a short drive away. Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are a 20 minute drive, and for shopping essentials Ellsworth is the largest town in Hancock county and is a 15 minute drive away. Hancock Point is located a short distance away. Visit Hancock’s 130 year old library, and take a stroll around the point enjoying views across Frenchman’s Bay to Bar Harbor.

The views of the water and tree colors were spectacular. Location was close to many good restaurants and not far from Bar Harbor and Acadia Park. The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed. We look forward to planning our return .
My husband and I recently returned from this wonderful cottage. We highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a special place in the area. It was spotlessly clean and very comfortable . Hope to return .
Talk about a total gem!! If you are looking for a peaceful place to stay with incredible views and wildlife, then this is the place to stay. The reversing falls are fascinating to watch, the layout of the house and views from inside are perfect, and the host was extremely helpful. We have found a new favorite place to visit!
A beautiful clean home with an amazing view. Enjoyed the quietness and watching the reversing falls. So many birds, deer and turkey. A perfect nature getaway.
This cottage is absolutely delightful! The views are simply stunning, both from the deck and from inside. The outdoor seating areas are wonderful for reading, conversation and simply chilling! The beds were very comfortable with comfy linens. The host left us a lovely welcome bag and she was very thoughtful in her communication. We found some great restaurants, most especially Union River Lobster. We highly recommend this VRBO.
The views were incredible, unique and everything we hoped for!Not a speck of dirt to be found in the cabin - plenty spacious for 4 adults. The pictures actually didn't do justice to the loving care evident in this property. The kitchen is a chef's dream!!
loved everything about this cottage, from the time I found it on vrbo to checking out. Tracey was a great host and we plan on staying here in the future!
This property was by far one of the cleanest well stocked places we have ever stayed through VRBO! It was EXACTLY as pictured and described in all the photos. The setting is so beautiful and peaceful, and we really appreciated being away from the crowds in Bar Harbor and Acadia at the end of each day after hiking and sightseeing at both these places.
This home was the highlight of our trip! The communication was A as we were arriving after dark and needed food recommendations. Helen's chowder and stews were a perfect item to bring back to the house. The location is absolutely beautiful and exactly how it was described. We loved sitting outside watching the boats come in to pull their lobster pots and relaxing in the evening around the fire. We also appreciated the welcome gifts. That was so thoughtful!
Great place to stay to operate out of to visit Acadia National Park...if I had time you would not have enough space for this review...but suffice it to say there is little you could do to make this place any better...and the Tidal Falls was a bonus...wonderful place to stay
We stayed for 3 nights while visiting Bar Harbor/Acadia. The house was perfect for our family of 4 and the view was absolutely beautiful! We just wish we had reserved it for additional days just so we could relax and enjoy the view more. We saw beautiful sunsets, seals, birds, deer, and even had an eagle land on the "beach" rocks our last morning. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home - we will definitely be back!
Great place to stay to get away to a quiet area. House has everything you need, including a great book with house and area information. Very pretty setting.
This place is beautiful, well kept, and tranquil. Nearby is Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. You have all the amenities you would ever need and Tracey and her team quickly respond to any and all inquiries. We hope to return to the same place next year.
This house was perfect! Equipped with everything we needed and more! Very quiet area and private! Close to everything we wanted to see! If we go back this is where we would stay!
This was our second visit to this cabin, and I am not disappointed with the accommodations of the property or its location to places of interest found in and around bar harbor and Acadia park. My wife and I will return here again if the opportunity ever presents itself in the future.
My husband and I had a relaxing and enjoyable stay at Tracey’s beautiful property. As advertised, the view was gorgeous and we enjoyed seeing the changes in the sky and water at all times of day. The property is a little off the beaten track, but the drive to major attractions like Acadia and Bar Harbor was manageable, and the tranquility after a busy day was appreciated. The property was clean and we had all of the basics that we needed. Tracey was a gracious and responsive host. We will be recommending the property to several other friends!
We absolutely loved it here and can’t wait to come back! The house is perfect and the views can’t be topped. We loved sitting out back and watching the tides and wildlife (lots of seals) and both said spending time at the house was a highlight of our vacation!
Home was cozy and the views were spectacular. Having breakfast one morning and six deer leisurely walked beside the window and down to the water. It was one of the cleanest properties we have ever stayed at. Highly recommend!
Have stayed at this location for the past 3 years and we want to go back. It is a peaceful stay for us in a beautiful location with an ever-changing view of the tidal river. The quality and attention to detail makes this cottage so comfortable. Location is perfect to visit both Acadia, Schoodic and of DownEast Maine, which we love to visit.
Our 6-day stay at Tidal Lodge cottage was a trip to remember. The atmosphere was outstanding with an impeccably clean home and unparalleled views. We saw bald eagles and seals, cormorants, and so many other cool creatures every morning and evening. Tracey was the best host with regular communication in advance and during our stay. We’ll be back, for certain. 10/10!
Excellent experience from start to finish, coast and property were exceptional. Would give 10 stars if I could.

About the host
Hosted by Tracey Long
My family is originally from the Boston area and have been vacationing in Maine for 25 years. We moved to the Southeast (Florida and then Georgia) and in 2016 decided to begin looking for a second home in Maine. We love the Downeast of Maine for its raw and rugged landscape and wildlife.
We spend a good bit of time with our family at the home, but in times we aren’t in Maine we have decided to open our cottage for others to experience what we love so much.
Why they chose this property
Our home sits on a nature preserve that is entirely unique to Maine and the area. There are only six reversing falls in Maine, and our home sits in full view of one of the largest in Maine.
The reversing falls must be experienced to appreciate, but there is abundant wildlife that use the falls as their feeding ground. With a low tide and full moon the waters in back of the cottage turn into class 3 and 4 rapids. It is quite the experience. There is an Eagles nest nearby and they are frequent visitors to the back lawn waiting to spot a fish in the water. The Harbor Seals in the Summer months will frequent up close to the shoreline.
There are fox, porcupine, deer, black bear, and bobcat in the area that frequent us.
What makes this property unique
The most unique aspect of our home are all the comforts of the cottage and the pure ruggedness of the Maine coast which lies just outside.
