About this property

Spacious Sonoma Gated Retreat with Pool, Tennis and Pickleball

This spacious Sonoma home is situated in prestigious Sobre Vista estates on 5+ acres with a gated driveway, solar heated pool and in-ground spa. We have added a newly constructed championship tennis court that also is surfaced for two pickleball courts and a professional basketball backboard and hoop. The main house has a recently renovated large kitchen with granite counters with an airy eat in table for the entire family/group to have breakfast while looking out on the garden and lawn. The adjacent dining room seats 16 with plenty of room surrounding for everyone to join in on elegant family meal while the living rooms offers expansive windows, a wood-burning fireplace, and a great place for relaxing.

We have recently renovated the home with an updated kitchen and new flooring throughout the main house and guest house.

In the main house, kids will enjoy their room (a twin over double bunk-bed plus a daybed with trundle) as well as the toys, games, bikes, and basketball hoop with plenty of space indoors to find a nook to play in. (We have 3 kids, so we get it!). The master bedroom is huge with a king size bed and an adjacent nook for additional sleepers, complete with its own jacuzzi bathtub and double headed shower. Two additional bedrooms look out onto the garden each with a queen size bed. The fully enclosed pool room functions as a 6th bedroom with two twin day beds and has its own attached bathroom. The

The guest house is just steps from the house and has a king size bed with a separate living room, its own kitchen and bathroom with a walk in shower. (extra sleeping mats in the closet)

In addition, separate from the house and away from the noise of the pool is a private office complete with a desk, wifi, printer/scanner and plenty of shade, for those of you who just can’t seem to get away completely.

Our charming stables give it that unique Sonoma flair to make sure that you know you are not in the city, but alas the property does not come fully equipped with horses.

We’ve worked hard to make this house both beautiful and comfortable and hope you enjoy it as much as we do. The large gathering spaces and the flexible sleeping arrangements, make it perfect for couples vacations, girls’ getaways, family gatherings, holidays, or to allow everyone to stay and gather for nearby winery weddings.

We’re surrounded by wineries for those wanting to go tasting or just step out the door and go on a short hike to the Sobre Vista lake with vistas over the valley and a plenty of ducks to make it worth your while. Borrow our bikes for a short ride into Glen Ellen (1 mile away) or to Sonoma Plaza (4 miles away) or to the Sonoma Country Club golf course (1 mile away) or drive over to Infineon Raceway (12 miles) if you are so inclined. Great place for a well rounded family get together. Host was very responsive and the whole stay was smooth. One thing that makes this property stand out is you feel off the beaten path but are 10 mins to Sonoma Square in one direction and 10 mins to Glen Ellen in the other. Would love to return.

Magnificent property

A wonderfully designed and curated property with something for everyone! This was a great location for a multi-generational family gathering with plenty of spaces to congregate and get away. Being in the middle of wine country was definitely a bonus. The owner was very responsive and sensitive to the needs of our group. Highly recommend!

Perfect Family Oasis

We stayed here with 4 boys ages 10, 12,13 and 17 plus 4 adults and a grandparent. This spot was perfect. The kids played pickleball, pool basketball, batting practice, and enjoyed the game room in the garage with pool,ping pong and a video game. The adults enjoyed the pool (pool volleyball) and fire pit. It's close to great wineries and restaurants. The owners made excellent recommendations for dinners, wineries and even massage therapists that came to the house. One day we took the whole family to kayak the russian river (about 45 mins away). This was the perfect home, with plenty of space and numerous things to keep everyone entertained, and centrally located.

Perfect House for a Gathering of Family and Friends

We returned to Paul's fabulous, spacious home after two years where we enjoyed the additional amenities. Both kids and adults spent hours in the heated pool and played basketball, tennis, and pickle ball. The well-supplied and expansive kitchen delighted our resident and outside chefs. The bedroom and bathroom layout perfectly met the needs of 12 people.

Wonderful family retreat!

Wonderful home with lots of indoor and outdoor spaces to spend time together as a family. We enjoyed the hot tub, pickleball, bocce ball, and pool tables. Great location - not far from Sonoma plaza, wineries, Sonoma market, and an easy drive to Napa. Great kitchen for preparing meals for a crowd! And a great supply of dishes, serving dishes, spices, etc. recommend walking thru the place with the caretaker when you arrive to learn how everything works! (He was very helpful).

Wonderful Wine-Country Get Away

We are a group of college friends who take an annual trop to somewhere wonderful and this was no exception. The home was well equipped, especially the kitchen which had EVERYTHING. We did a lot of cooking. The weather was unseasonably warm but we enjoyed the pool and hot tub as well as all the games and property. This place would be great for a large family gathering.

Expansive property in a great location

We loved our time here and loved all the suggestions offered by the owner. It is beautiful and there is a ton of space to run around and the kids had a great time. The only disappointment was a frigid pool (only heated by solar in the summer) and the some of the amenities didn't work that the kids were really excited about (kid ATV, electric scooters and no ball machine). The outdoor lights were also not functional. It is beautiful and the hikes right from the house were spectacular. We hope to return!

Pros and Cons

The property is private, woodsy, and has very enjoyable outside sitting areas, including a fire pit which we enjoyed every evening. The kitchen is very well stocked, better than any VRBO we've ever visited. For a large house, the AC works very well. The living quarters certainly need some repairs and improvements, e.g., an inoperative microwave, a mattress replacement, a screen door off its tracks, etc.

Perfect Family Rental

Great property with lots of activities for families to partake in from tennis, pickleball to foosball. The pool was the prefect temperature for swimming in the evening as the sun went down, as the temp outside was in the 90s for us during the day. We didn't use the tennis/basketball due to heat with sun coming down. The main house kitchen is large enough to accommodate multiple prepping/cooking and the large dining table could site everyone easily with comfort. BBQ outside worked great. The beds were super comfortable in every room. The casita it nice away from main house by a few yards. Didn't use the casita kitchen so can't comment on that. Any communication with owners was excellent with quick responses.

We live in San Francisco and come to Sonoma as often as we can. Kathleen is a doctor and works in the Dignity Health system. Paul works in the SaaS/Software world.

We were fortunate to own this home through the pandemic and benefited from the tranquility and great internet. We also took the opportunity to fully upgrade and remodel the main living areas in the home. We are glad that we can now share these improvements with our guests who can now travel.

Why they chose this property

We purchased this property so we could host events for our extended family that live throughout California and the Bay Area. The house is conveniently located to many fun and interesting attractions that provide entertainment for all generations. We strive to keep the house stocked with activities for young and old.

What makes this property unique

A few things that set this property apart:
1) We are close to Sonoma Square and very accessible to all locations throughout the County. You wont be driving for 25 minutes just to get to the main road!
2) We know how important it is to stay connected. Unlike many homes in Sonoma we are on cable internet by Comcast/Xfinity so our internet is screaming fast with access points extended throughout the property.
3) We have converted our pool to a saltwater system so significantly fewer chemicals. Also our spa is attached to the pool which means it gets cycled with the pool water everyday resulting in a much cleaner, healthier spa experience than detached spas.
4) We have recently (2018) upgraded our HVAC system so that the house heats rapidly and we have airconditioning throughout the main house and guest house.
