This was our second visit to Isla Mujeres, but first time staying at this incredible home. My family had a few items on our wish list for our stay: Privacy, ocean view, close to town, but quiet enough to feel like we were far away from the beach and all that the island has to offer.
Magi Azul has all of that and more.
From the moment we walked through the door, seeing the Balinese pool and privacy walls, we were in awe. As we moved around each corner, and climbed to the different floors of the home, we were in awe of every detail, the luxurious style of the home and the spectacular views.
Each large bedroom has its own luxurious bathroom, incredible views of the water and extremely comfortable beds.
My boyfriend and I woke every morning and sat on the master suite balcony watching the sunrise glisten over the water.. After going to the other side of the island for a few hours of tennis, we’d come back for a dip in the private pool before we set out for the day with our kids to the beach, or going into town for incredible lunches (Gin and Fish our top choice...by far).
The late afternoons on the beach outside of the home gave us warmth from the other side of the island where the sun would set, while searching and collecting unique ocean treasures.
Being right on the water was one of my personal highlights. Whether listening to the tide to put me to sleep, to waking to it in the morning and listening to the tide come in and out, I found myself at absolute peace. Lounging in the hammock on the third floor, with late afternoon sun-another treasure I’ll hold dear.
Maxi, our lovely housekeeper, was so wonderful, kind and friendly. Hugging her goodbye, I look forward to hopefully seeing her again.
Admittedly, it was an interesting, if not difficult time to be here, as it was at the same time that COVID-19 was spreading quickly throughout the world. We felt like we were in the safest place in the world being here, rather than the New York area. By the time we left, the island got quieter and quieter. It was a strange feeling for everyone. Tourists and locals.
Fortunately there were no cases on Isla as we left...and I hope that all of the beautiful people of the island stay safe and healthy.
Lastly. Staying here in this very special home made us feel extremely fortunate and blessed. We left with full hearts and much gratitude.
Until next time.
