If you're driving by car here, there is free parking out front on Whipple Street.
Some info about the neighborhood:
Welcome to Logan Square, one of Chicago’s most vibrant and historic neighborhoods. Known for its tree-lined boulevards, classic greystone architecture, and lively arts scene, Logan Square beautifully blends history with modern culture.
*A Bit of History
Named after General John A. Logan, a Civil War hero, the neighborhood is part of Chicago’s historic Boulevard System, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The iconic Illinois Centennial Monument, designed by renowned architect Henry Bacon (who also designed the Lincoln Memorial), stands proudly at the heart of Logan Square.
What to See & Do:
Stroll the Logan Boulevard Historic District with its stately homes and green medians.
Browse local shops, vintage stores, and art galleries sprinkled throughout the neighborhood.
Catch live music at The Logan Theatre, a beautifully restored 100-year-old movie house that now features indie films, craft beer, and events. Another amazing spot walking distance for live music is Rosa's Lounge on Armitage St with live jazz and blues music! Perfect spot for a date night!
Spend a Sunday morning at the Logan Square Farmers Market, one of the city’s best, packed with local produce, baked goods, and artisanal finds.
A favourite date-night venue of my husband and I is to grab a glass of wine and charcuterie at Lardon and head to the speakeasy next door called Blue Bird. This is about a 8-10 minute walk from our home.
A bit of Trivia for you!
**Just steps from Logan Square, Chicago has deep ties to two icons of imagination. Walt Disney was born in 1901 at a modest home on Tripp Avenue in nearby Hermosa—only a couple miles from here. And in 1899, L. Frank Baum penned The Wonderful Wizard of Oz while living on Humboldt Boulevard, right next door to Logan Square. Together, these neighborhood connections remind us that Chicago is not just a city of architecture and food—it’s also a birthplace of timeless stories that shaped childhoods around the world.
Happy exploring Logan Square, Chicago and its surrounding neighborhoods!

About the host
Hosted by Alison Egan

We're an Irish family who splits our time between vibrant Mexico and lively Chicago! For about 9 months of the year, we call Mexico home, and during that time, we’re delighted to open up our Chicago home for others to enjoy.
This is our beloved family home, and we've put a lot of care and love into making it warm, welcoming, and comfortable. While it may not be a hotel, we've set it up to a high standard, with thoughtful touches throughout to help you feel at home.
We truly hope you enjoy the space, the yard, and the wonderful neighborhood as much as we do!

Why they chose this property
We absolutely love our leafy, vibrant neighborhood—full of charm, character, and a creative spirit. It’s a dynamic area that’s growing rapidly, and it’s been exciting to watch it evolve while still retaining its unique personality.
We’re fortunate to be surrounded by some of Chicago’s top dining destinations, all within walking distance. A few local favorites include GIANT, Gretel, Andros Taverna, Osteria Langhe, and the beloved Lula Cafe. Just five minutes away on Armitage, you’ll find Small Cheval, a fantastic addition to the area known for its classic burgers. At the end of our street, a brand-new sushi spot, Omakase, has recently opened—perfect for a special evening out.
One of the highlights of living here is our proximity to Palmer Square—a beautiful, tree-lined park where we often spend time with our children having picnics or relaxing in a hammock with a good book. (We’ve even left a hammock in the front coat room for you to enjoy!)
For those who enjoy biking or being outdoors, the 606 Trail is just a short ride away. And if you’re traveling light, Divvy bike rentals are conveniently located just four minutes from the house at Humboldt and Armitage.
We hope you enjoy exploring the neighborhood as much as we do—it truly is one of the city’s hidden gems!

What makes this property unique
Our home is filled with natural light, thanks to high ceilings and large windows that brighten the front living space. The fireplaces add a cozy, inviting atmosphere—perfect for relaxing evenings year-round. The home stays warm and comfortable throughout the seasons, and we especially love spending time on our back deck, complete with a grill, pergola, and a peaceful yard—ideal for dining al fresco or enjoying a quiet morning coffee.
Families with children often love the lower level, which is thoughtfully set up with toys, books, puzzles, and even a Barbie Dream House—making it a favorite among our youngest guests. For all ages, the games room offers fun and flexibility: there's a full-sized pool table and a (plastic) axe-throwing game that makes for great entertainment. The space can easily be enjoyed by both kids and adults.
We’re also located just a short walk from Stan Mansion, making our home a perfect option for wedding guests looking for nearby, comfortable accommodations.
