Above the Clouds is less than less than ten minutes from downtown Blue Ridge, Georgia (home of the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, Antique Stores, unique shops and restaurants). The cabin is also less than 25 miles to nearby Ocoee River rafting, situated near 300 miles of hiking trails, as well as cycling and mountain bike trails. There is three 18-hole golf courses close by and skiing is only 2 1/2 hours away. All this and only 90 minutes from Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport.
Although relaxing and reading a good book or watching a great movie is the best thing to do at Above the Clouds, if your desire is for the more active things, here are some suggestions. There are a number of things to do in Blue Ridge. From antiquing to restaurants to riding the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway. There are festivals, to 'Arts in the Park', to a community theater. There are orchards where you can pick your own apples. There is even 'The Swan', which is one of three drive-in movie theaters in the state. For the outdoor lovers, the Benton McKaye trail crosses over the cabins mountain. From hiking to fishing - you can rent a boat and fish on Lake Blue Ridge or fish form the shore to trout fishing in the trout capital of Georgia. You can hang at the beach and BBQ or just take in the breathtaking views form the cabin.
Without a doubt, the best website for current events in the area is the Chamber of Commerce website, as it has calendars of things that are going on no matter what time of year you visit.

About Bud Ketterl
We're a family of four, my wife and I have a son and a daughter in high school. We moved to Knoxville, TN from the Atlanta metro area two years ago with a job opportunity. We have been rescuing German Shepherd Dogs over the last 20 years and currently have three. We spent almost twenty years in the Acworth, GA area before heading to Knoxville. Before that, my wife and I grew up in Connecticut. We met in high school and then again later in life when we started dating. We've just celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary this past June.
Bud Ketterl purchased this Cabin in 2014
Why Bud Ketterl chose Blue Ridge
Our family purchased the cabin a few years ago after renting it for several years before that. We fell in love with the cabin and its amazing views, the town of Blue Ridge, its natural beauty, the people and all there is to do there. We hope to retire in Blue Ridge eventually, it is just a whole new way of life there.
What makes this Cabin unique
The cabin sits literally on top of the mountain, but only a five minute drive from the highway. You're only 10 minutes from downtown Blue Ridge, where there a amazing restaurants, coffee shops, antique stores and so much more. The property borders the national forest and the views of the mountains and valleys are just beautiful. If you're looking for a place to kick back, put your feet up and enjoy the views, this is the place. It has a screen in rocker porch, a side deck, decks off the basement and a private screened in deck off the upper bedroom. Don't let the word cabin throw you off though. It has all the amenities of your home - wireless internet, flat screen TVs, hot tub, air conditioning and especially indoor plumbing! Check out the photo gallery page here on our website to see what it has to offer, You'll fall in love with it, just like we did.
