Spend down time in this luxury downtown five bedroom historic old Shore Crest Retreat, a newly renovated turn of the 19th century off Main Street residence, once the home to Olympic participants. A stone's throw away from Main Street and Mirror Lake, this spacious and very private rental offers all the amenities that an ideally situated downtown location can offer without the hustle and bustle of Main Street.

From its large sitting room with original stone fireplace and wood paneling, walk out on its grand porch to lake and mountain views, July’s fireworks celebration and show almost in your lap, access to restaurants, shopping, and free shuttle service to must-see destinations. The Olympic Arena, Convention Center, ice skating rink, local movie theater, and public beach are within immediate walking distance of this, your rental. Ironman competition and participation couldn’t be any more convenient. Just one hundred feet from your front door to Main Street, catch the free Mountain Valley Shuttle Service for skiers and riders to Whiteface Mountain and ski resort.
Free weekly concerts all summer (see photo of Rusted Root performing) at the band shell in Mid's Park are right there for your pleasure from the comfortable vantage point of our veranda.

Renovations to and remodeling of this vintage home were completed in June of 2011. Each bedroom suite is fitted with its own full sized tiled bathroom and multiple sleeping accommodations. The master bedroom suite also has an additional small room with trundle sofa bed and a screened in sleeping porch overlooking Mirror Lake, Mount Marcy and the distant mountain range. This stately grand home is tastefully decorated with antique and Mission style lighting, hardwood floors, ample closet and storage space, an open living and connecting dining room, a fully equipped eat in kitchen with cherry cabinets, maple butcher block counter tops, high tech appliances, all tiled showers, and a laundry room with a washer and dryer. Simply and tastefully furnished with oriental rugs and antique furniture, this comfortably fitted home with all its amenities also offers convenient and ample off street parking. This mainstream Main Street home affords you the ability to park your vehicle for the duration of your stay unless you were to drive the fifteen minutes to Whiteface Mountain or other nearby attractions. Its attached one bedroom apartment (VRBO #652809) can also be rented separately or with the Main house to sleep an additional 4 guests.

Spacious, perfect location, and cabin vibe!

We had a group of 10 staying at the house. There was truly so much space, linens were very clean, and the house was even larger than it seemed in the photos. Our experience communicating with the host was great - she was easy to reach and even helped us out by making sure the neighbors car wasn’t in our way. The stay was amazing - you truly cannot get a better location if visiting Lake Placid. The house is right in the middle of the main strip on Mirror Lake. I would love to make this trip again with family.

Our family stayed during the Ironman competition and it was the perfect location. We were able to walk to every event. The house is perfect in that every bedroom has its own bathroom. Being a family of 10 there was more than enough room for all. The kitchen stove can be a bit challenging and the bath tub needs a stopping. Otherwise, the house is perfect. We loved having morning coffee and enjoying evenings on the deck.

Relaxing and beautiful property!

We absolutely loved our stay! The house was even better in person with views that were absolutely stunning from the front porch. With a group of friends, each of us has a comfy bedroom with attached bathroom which was incredibly convenient. We were also right down town which made it so easy to walk around mirror lake and stop for a coffee or bite to eat. We can’t say enough good things about this property and will absolutely book again!

As antiques dealers for over 30 years, we have applied our many years of experience in the decorative arts into restoring and decorating what was once and is again an elegant Mission style home. We have retained what we could of the home's honesty but have modernized it for today's market and livability. As a result, once referred to as the 'Bumstead House' and serving as an Inn for many of the 1930's Olympic participants, Shore Crest has retained its original wood paneling, hardwood floors, and stone fireplace, and has been lovingly restored to its old glory.

We had been vacationing in Lake Placid for years and thought that the best of all worlds could be had in the purchase of a home that was as convenient to all amenities as this one was and is.

LOCATION. Location just off Main Street with an incredible view can't be beat particularly without the slight hustle and bustle of the main thoroughfare through town.
