This home is not huge but it is more than adequate for 2, especially with the large lanai where you can feel the ocean spray on windy days. All the technology (internet, tv, laundry, coffee machine) worked. We have stayed all over the big island while visiting over the past 30 years: we’ve stayed in Kohala resorts, several VRBOs on Ali Drive in Kona, in several rain forest homes near the volcano and near Hilo, and a home overlooking Waipo valley. This place is what we came back to. One caveat: nothing commercial is within 15 miles. If you are ok with that, you will love this place.
We liked the mesmerizing view of the ocean. Beds and furniture were comfortable. Coqui frog noise was minimal, drowned out by waves. Kitchen well stocked. Some of window coverings need replacement.
Beautiful property, waves are fun to watch from the lanai. Comfy beds, Good WiFi, no cell signal. It is remote, good grocery and town of Pahoa about 15 mins away.
20 day stay on the islands, this was our favorite place to stay at. Its kinda far from everything but oh, man you can't beat the views or the sound of the waves at night as you sleep. 10/10. Also, really liked the decor. Just a note though this is not wheelchair accessible nor is it accessible for anyone with severe physical disabilities. You have to go up 2 sets of stairs. Edit: just finished our vacation 20 nights, 3 islands and hands down our favorite property. Absolutely the winner of our trip. We had some genuinely amazing vrbos on this trip but being that close to the ocean, with those windows and that perfect porch just can't be beat.
This was a beautiful place to stay. Listening to the ocean all the time was wonderful and although there is no air conditioning you will not need it.We saw whales right from the amazing lanai!Kehena beach is just a short walk away. We will be back.
The house is conveniently located very close to the black sand beach. If you want to spend time in this area in a secluded setting this place is definitely a good choice with the sound of the ocean. The house is comfortable but the dining area and the living room lighting could use an update. Also not sure if the housekeeper is washing the floor between each guest since we had coffee stain on the patio and the floor also had hair in some places, looked like they dont vacuum too often. Beds were clean and comfy. Master bath shower floor looked like needed some bleach and sinks need cleaning since they slow to drain. I would have gladly communicated this with the hosts and tell them privately but they have not answered to any of my messages so I had no chance talking to them.
Beautiful property as described. The ocean sounds were magical, and very easy to get to the black sand beach at Kehena! This is the real Hawai'i for sure.
The view alone gives this place a 5-star rating! The house and it's amenities reinforce this rating! We loved our stay here & would gladly visit again!
This was our second time staying here, and we loved every minute of watching and listening to the waves crash on the epic lanai. Looking forward to returning next year.
