What to Expect:
Similar to other major North American cities, Vancouver contends with social challenges such as homelessness and substance abuse. Despite this, the general area is largely considered safe. It should be noted that the issues concentrated on Hastings Street are considerably distant from our current location; however, the building itself is situated next to social housing designated for low-income individuals. Although the vicinity is not inherently hazardous, there is visible substance use in the adjacent park, at the end of the nearby alleyway with occasional encampments set up across the street on Powell (which the building is located on). Because we are located beside social housing buildings, guests may be in direct line-of-sight to open drug use and homelessness. Such sights may be discerning for those unacquainted with these scenarios. If this is a concern or if the area is too active for your liking, alternative locations may be more suitable.
Our building is situated in a more developed part of the area near downtown, home to middle to high-income residents and amenities. Down the street, you'll find the Michelin-starred restaurant St. Lawrence and The Mackenzie Room, which received Michelin honorable mentions. For a comprehensive list of upscale amenities in our area, please refer to our guidebook.

By booking, you acknowledge you've read this disclaimer. We recommend conducting your own research to ensure the environment aligns with your comfort and expectations, especially if you're considering long-term business accommodations. Additionally, if you choose to park on the street, please be aware that the host is not liable for any damages to, theft from, or theft of your vehicle.
Located in the lively Strathcona neighborhood, 382 Powell Street has a Walk Score of 92, making it a 'Walker's Paradise.' Ideal for a city break or weekend escape, you can leave the car behind as daily errands are just a walk away. A 17-minute stroll links you to the Expo Line at Stadium-Chinatown Station, offering convenient digital nomad lodging with Vancouver's world-class transit system at your disposal.

This accessibility makes it an excellent choice for long-term business accommodations or a family getaway. Located on the 3rd floor as unit 302, this city break apartment lacks an elevator and features the natural soundtrack of urban life. The vibrant energy and liveliness of the neighborhood contribute to a distinct pulse at this property's location, which may not be suitable for everyone.

Why they chose this property
Welcome to Japantown, a neighborhood steeped in history and poised for a vibrant future. Our choice of 382 Powell Street as the location for our rental is a testament to the neighborhood's resilience and promise.
This locale, once home to the iconic Sun Nom King restaurant, bore witness to the difficult chapter of Japanese Canadian forced displacement, leading to a downturn in the area. However, Japantown is now experiencing a renaissance, sparked by the revitalization of neighboring Gastown and Railtown.
Japantown is adorned with culinary gems, including the Michelin-mentioned Mackenzie restaurant and the Michelin-starred St. Lawrence, promising unforgettable dining experiences. For coffee aficionados, Pallet and Railtown Cafe offer delightful options.
Other noteworthy dining establishments in the area include the vibrant Mexican cuisine at Cuchillo and the authentic Japanese flavors at Dosanko. For your grocery needs, Sunrise Market is a local favorite, and keep an eye out for Tommy's Whole Grain Bakery, set to open soon.
In this neighborhood, history and innovation converge, offering you a unique blend of cultural richness and modern amenities. We invite you to be part of the Japantown revival and experience the best of Vancouver's past and present.
