Magical stay for our large group

The owners have created a very special place at the Chateau. We had a large group of 12 adults and 13 kids, and everyone had a really good time. We especially enjoyed the large lawn, swimming in the lake, fire pit, the large back porch, the big kitchen, multple gathering spaces, the volleyball court, etc. Tips - bring water shoes for the lake due to the zebra mussels. We didn't expect to swim, but it kept kids entertained for hours and seemed clean enough. The AC could be better upstairs - some rooms better than others. The kitchen was stocked, but could have been better for a group of our size -consider supplementing with extra utensils etc. Make sure to ask them if you don't get an email since I didn't have the code to get in. It also took me 2 days to realize there was a linen closet on the 2nd floor with tons of linens. Also, 3 of the bedrooms (all ensuites) are on the 2nd floor of the garage. They are nice for those who want to be away from the busy-ness of the house. There is a very short outdoor walk to get to them. In the main house there are 4 bedrooms on the 2nd floor and 3 on the top floor. The 11th bedroom is on the main floor right next to the back door/hallway and doesn't have a real bed, so I would consider this more like a 10 bed. It was OK for us, but there were times when I wish we had the 11th (mainly nap time with all the kids). Please don't let this detract from the positives... It was a really beautiful property and many special memories were made.

We shared a multi-aged family reunion with 20 people. There was room for all with comfortable beds and plenty of indoor and outdoor spaces for gathering in small and large groups. The kids all enjoyed splashing around in the Lake and the grownups gathered around the outdoor fire pit in the evenings. It wasn’t clear to me from the listing that 3 of the bedrooms were separate from the main house, up a flight of stairs over the garage. That allowed for more privacy for some. The rooms in the house ranged in accommodations from a small twin room for 1, to a large 2 bedroom suite for 4. With bedrooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors there was a lot of stair climbing for the elders. Unfortunately, we did have some inconvenient issues with the HVAC. In some rooms the furnace could not be turned off and the air-conditioning didn’t work on hot summer days. There were some other minor inconveniences, like absent light bulbs and hooks for hanging towels in bathrooms. There was a coffee maker and microwave in a room over the garage, but no cups or plates. There was a basketball net and volley ball court, but no balls to play with. It seemed to reflect that the house has not really been lived in to fine tune the amenities. To his credit the owner, Mike, came out to address our concerns and the HVAC repairman returned several times until the problems were resolved. We had a 5-star vacation and with a bit more attention to detail in the house would have given it that rating!
