About this property

NEW LISTING - Stunning sunsets, turtle watching longtails wheeling & glow worms

Sugar Cane Cottage is located on the eastern end of Sugar Cane Beach looking out across Mangrove Bay towards the west. It is the sister cottage to Sunset Studio (www.vrbo.com/4623361ha), which is located at the other end of the beach. It is 10 minutes from Dockyard and 15 minutes from the main beaches.

It is a single room studio unit with a loft space for sleeping, modelled on the tiny house concept. There is a king sized bed in the loft area, together with small built in closets either side of the bed. The living area comprises a corner sofa unit that can convert to 2 single beds. The kitchenette is a very compact “galley” style kitchen that has a full stove, fridge/freezer, toaster & electric kettle. Flat screen TV in lounge and loft area with fire tv and firestick, internet access, air-conditioning throughout. The bathroom has a large shower.

The unit has direct access to our beach. The front patio overlooks Mangrove Bay on the Western side of the unit. On the Northern and Eastern sides are a larger patio area with a built in seating area and comfortable deck furniture & bar-b-que area.

The exterior of the unit is designed to resemble the wooden cottages built in Somerset in the late 19th – early 20th Centuries, by West Indian workers who were brought to the Island to work at Dockyard. Beautiful views - really enjoyed the outdoor space. Gorgeous sunsets and sunrises. Very cute cottage. A bit more difficult to get to restaurants than we expected, so take advantage of the host’s offer to pick up supplies for you before you arrive. Be prepared with something simple to cook for dinner if you can’t get out to a restaurant. (We had toast and a beer one night!)
Great outdoor space including a small lawn and deck, with steps down to small beach.
Cute cottage, well maintained.
Sunsets are spectacular
Little cove out front.

10/10! The house is fantastic but the location is a dream come true! Looking out from the patio table at fish playing in the coral reef below, snorkeling and paddleboarding, seeing the most amazing sunrises and sunsets, and walking just across the street to the ferry or bus to get to the touristy areas... One of the best trips our family will ever get to take. We will be back!

Great experience and stay. House is right on the water with access to a small beach and beautiful views. You can see fish/coral from the property looking into the water and around the area that you have access to. Bus stops both directions very close to the house and a ferry across the street. 10 minute bus ride to dockyard with additional ferry access and where a lot of excursions/tours leave from. King size bed in the loft was very comfortable. Host was responsive and communicative.

The cottage is simply lovely. The location is outstanding with stunning views over the bay. The lovely, sheltered sandy beach is shared with the other cottage located at the other end of the beach. There is access to a kayak and paddleboards. The grounds have plenty of different seating options and shady areas. The cottage is very well equiped with all the appliances one needs and very efficient AC. The host is very kind and responsive. She went above and beyond. Due to an incoming hurricane, we were moved to another of the properties for extra safety. Supermarket is about a 10m walk away and the bus stop is right outside. I look forward to returning here as soon as possible.

We’re not aware of the construction activity directly next to the property prior to making arrangements- workers would come and go throughout the day using the electrical outlets on the patio and water spigot. There was no inside seating, other than the sofa and patio chairs outside which limited our seating after swimming. We were not advised of the landscaper scheduled during our stay and we had to stay inside during a rainstorm because he was occupying the two chairs under the covered porch for 1 1/2 hrs . No coffee maker other than a single serve “K” type and a teapot. Freezer portion of the refrigerator was frosted up. Wifi was fine but could not get the TV to work. The private beach was great but concerned that after the dive shop is completed next door it won’t be so private anymore. The a/c unit filter was very dusty. The upstairs loft was comfortable but again, no seating other than the bed, and tall people would have an issue with ceilings. The car rental suggestion was helpful and the cottage was supplied with a charging plug.

The property ws exactly as advertised. It is a delightful space for two, with everything that you need. The check-in process is extremely straighforward and stress-free.The site is on a main road, which can be a little noisy during the day, however, if you're on the beach you soon forget the road is there. It quiets down at night so doesn't impact your sleep. The beach is shared between the two rentals, so it feels like a personal beach, which for Bermuda is an absolute delight. The host advised bringing beach shoes and this is definitly a requirement. The rocks are quite sharp and there is some glass dotted around the place.....a general problem in Bermuda due to historic discarding of bottles into the sea. The beach is a great spot for snorkelling, lots of sea life to view, there was even a couple of turtles! The Host is very attentive & easy to contact. They made a personal introduction on day one. They offered to collect shopping from the local supermarket on the day of arrival, which is a lovely touch as it removes the "where do I get my essentials" worry. They checked in with us when the weather got a little wild, which was also reassuring. The views are stunning as you're right on the edge of the water, beautiful sunrises & sunsets.....just lovely.Aircon was serviceable and worked well. The pod type coffee machine also has a flter insert, which allows fresh brew from standard ground coffee, very useful if you do not have the American style deep pods.
