About this property

Falmouth Waterfront: Charming Waquoit Bay Three Bedroom Cottage

Experience Cape Cod charm in a cozy cottage on the water, for rent by the week, month, or other starting March 1, 2020.

The Cottage is on a large lot with a small beach located at the foot of the bay. This three bedroom Waquoit Bay (East Falmouth) home is open concept with fireplace and 180 degree views of Waquoit Bay.
A
nook alongside the brand new and updated kitchen ( autumn 2019) provides the perfect place to start the day as you receive first light of the rising sun. The cottage sleeps six (probably more if they are children).

Excellent location for kayaking with easy access. Additionally, the cottage is 100 yards from a public boat launch if you would like to bring your boat (with plenty of room for trailer storage). While there is no dock it is easy to anchor the boat on the beach. Fishing is excellent at the mouth of the bay with Washburn Island (National Estuary Research Reserve) and South Cape State Beach framing the head of the bay. Waquoit bay is a shallow sandy bay great for the explorer, shell collector, and sun worshiper in all of us.

-children welcome
-wheelchair inaccessible
-unsuitable for infirm

Additional Amenities:
-washer and dryer
-3+ car driveway

Fun in Falmouth
The house and location were great. The view of the bay was beautiful and the access to the water was a short walk down the stairs! The sunrises were not to be missed! It was a short drive to downtown and location was convenient to other fun places too.

Beautiful stay!
We had a wonderful week at this charming and historic home! We rented kayaks and enjoyed exploring and fishing the bay, the kids loved the small beach in the backyard and the views from the house are gorgeous. Location was close to Falmouth as well as other nearby towns with grocery, ice cream, pizza within a few mins drive. The house itself was comfortable with a lot of interesting history and character. We would stay here again!

Wonderful views kayakers paradise
This was our second stay at Blake’s family home. The kitchen had everything we needed as well as a gas Webber grill which we made use of. Location has spectacular views and a quiet setting. It’s a bonus to be able to anchor our motorboat as well as easily launch kayaks from private beach. We had another great stay. Thanks for sharing your home and for the helpful information package you provided.

About the host

This is a family owned house, all of whom have spent time on the bay with fond memories of sailing, rowing, swimming, clamming, exploring, sitting, reading, and generally embodying summer on the Cape at its idyllic best. With my two children (7 and 4) and often a friend or two of theirs we spend several weeks of the summer exploring beaches and Washburn island. It is our hope that whoever joins us to experience Waquoit becomes a friend and an annual guest.

Why they chose this property

The cottage was built in 1926 by my great grandfather and has been used as a vacation home or all season home since then. As generations of us have spent our summers on the Bay, it is the perfect location for a family, individual, or couple looking to relax and slow down.

What makes this property unique

There is sometimes nothing better than watching the comings and goings of life on the water. The house enjoys a near perfect location for a sunrise across the bay with views that extend 2 miles down-bay. While the area has plenty of public beach access. You can swim, Quohog, crab, and build sand castles right in front of the house. You can also go down bay and have access to incredible beaches on Vineyard sound or in the bay where the shallow water stays warm and inviting, perfect for children and lazing about.
