About this property
Best Sunsets on Sullivans- Beachfront
Found at the western end of Sullivan’s Island, this condo is in a cottage built by the US government in approximately 1913. The cottage served as housing for enlisted female nurses that served at Camp Moultrie Hospital. Our 2nd floor unit has the best views on Sullivans Island while optimizing privacy. Watch large vessels that enter and exit the harbor pass silently by the front yard. Dolphins can be seen swimming by most days. And look across the water to Fort Sumter- where the first shots of the Civil War were fired. The views are truly magical. The beach is lovely and generally only occupied by the small number of residents and visitors at the western end of the island. The cottage is situated right next door to historic Fort Moultrie which has many acres of lightly used grounds and paths that make for what seems like a private park. The beach going east is undeveloped for over a mile as the maritime forest and trails make for a mostly barren area. Walking west of the cottage you will see historic island homes, views of Ft. Sumter, downtown Charleston and the Ravenel Bridge. This quiet street and peaceful space is perfectly suited for young families and empty nesters. This is your opportunity to enjoy one of the few beachfront condo rentals on Sullivan's Island.
Restaurants and nightlife options are a short distance from the condo. Grocers and pharmacies can be found right over the bridge in Mount Pleasant. If you love golf, tennis or pickle ball, there are courses and courts available. Smart TV and wireless internet will keep you connected while away from home. You will also find books and games for your entertainment. Enjoy the outdoor spaces as much as possible! There are front and back porches, a large, shared yard and plenty of seating at the edge of the dunes.

This property was amazing and Katherine was a welcoming and attentive host. The space was comfortable and wonderfully situated. We could sit on the porch and watch dolphins jumping out of the water each morning. We hope to return again!
Location can’t be beat. Perfect stay in a historic building right by Fort Moultrie, right on the beach. Two huge porches provide extra living and dining spaces. Beach on this end of the island is quiet and still retains its rugged natural beauty. Tons of birds and dolphins to watch while you enjoy your morning coffee. We felt this was the best unit in the building. Wishing this trip could never end!
Shocked to see condition of unit - was told it was quaint but it was SHABBY. Bathroom very old and small. Shower was too high so it wet my hair as I couldn’t get away from the water. Very slippery shower and floor got wet every time shower was on. However, beds were comfortable. TVwas hard to operate too. I won’t be returning to this rental
We visited during a rather cold week, but were pleased to find that the unit had comfortable beds, great heating, and plenty of hot water. The unit is small but well- equipped, and in warmer weather the front and back porches would provide additional living space. Katherine was responsive to our questions in a timely manner, and made us feel welcome. Nearly ten blocks from shops and restaurants but could be walkable in warmer weather. We would definitely consider returning.
A cozy historic beach home with the ocean just steps away. The location and setting felt more like a novel than reality. Katherine was a generous, attentive host!
Another great stay. This is a wonderful place to stay on the island.

Disappointing upkeep
We stayed in this attractive apartment several times pre-pandemic, only to find it superficially maintained on our return: windows were dirty; sills either painted shut or filled with bugs; no bedroom fan remote to be found; back porch couch broken; fridge door shelves removed; front porch pillows dirty; shower curtain leaked; no soap in bath or kitchen; worn pots and pans; no bar in shower; chipped china; toilet seat unsecured; ice maker broken; outside stairs rickety — should have two rails; gate stuck; kitchen floor tiles missing, broken; exterior and interior paint flaking. With more attentive maintenance, Unit 4 could be restored to its original charming condition. Sadly, we won’t be back. showercushions dirty
Enjoyed this perfect beach front cozy condo on Sullivan’s Island! So nice to spend mornings on the front porch with a view of the ocean. Great location to explore the area and especially liked that the condo was pet friendly. Host was very responsive.
The porch view of the beach and ocean was breathtaking! Having coffee breakfast, and reading on the pitch were the highlights of our trip. Pros: Comfortable beds and furniture.Beautful relaxing view from front porchResponsive hostYou can take your dog on the beach with a permit. Cons,;There was a very strong smell of some type of deodorizer that was overbearing. It aggravated my allergies. The host thought it was scented trash bags. That wasn't it and my clothes came home smelling like it, as well my dog"s fur.Next to public access to the beach, so could be noisy at times. Outlet in the kitchen didn't work for microwave.Large rugs were not clean. My small dog was aggressively approached by large dogs twice on the beach because people didn't follow the leash rules. She was almost burn and one dog jumped on me multiple times trying to get to her after I picked her up. That is not the host"s fault. Just be cautious if you take a small dog on the beach. It almost ruined my stay.
Weather was beautiful. Loved sitting on the big porch and watching the ships coming and going from Charleston harbor. Great location next to a National Park (Fort Moultrie).
We enjoyed our time on Sullivan’s Island. We loved the view and location. We did a lot of wonderful walking on the beach and the surrounding area which we found delightful! We loved that we could bring our dog with us!
The unit is very quaint, the living room a bit dark. HOWEVER, the front porch was so wonderful, we did not even need a living room. The location is wonderful and the sunsets, exquisite. We had a very relaxing week.
We really enjoyed staying here. It was very close to the restaurants and shops on Sullivan’s and not a far drive in to Charleston. Having the porch with the beautiful view was so nice in the morning. The yard and access to the beach was amazing!
perfect location for me & my teen daughters who love to shop in Charleston during the day & enjoy some beach time at sunset. the restaurants are nearby & the girls could walk together safely on the beach or into town. the house has everything you need & so cozy and clean. i could read on the porches all day. we hope to return!
This place was clean and comfy and cozy. We had fantastic views of the beach and spent the days watching the dolphins, birds and ships as they went by. The condo had all your conveniences and was close to things to do..like visit Ft Moultrie, the beach, Sullivan's Island resturants, etc and was an easy drive over to Mt Pleasant if you wanted to. We chose to stay on the porch or the beach and soak up the beautiful views. Our host was easy to get in touch with and communication was good.

About the host
Hosted by Katherine Falls
Hosting friends new and old has always been a wonderful way to stay engaged with all there is to do and see on the island and in Charleston.
Why they chose this property
The western end of the island is the most peaceful! Being next door to Fort Moultrie while looking across the water to Fort Sumter and the lighthouse at Folly’s Beach is amazing. There is great fishing to the left of the property and great swimming to the right of the property.
What makes this property unique
This oceanfront condo has a very large front yard, ample parking and there is always sand for walking and tidal pools to explore.
