Cozy Beach Cottage BIG YARD 1 Blk to Private Beach. 3 NIGHT MINIMUM Stay for 2BR

Cozy pet friendly home just 1 block to Lake Michigan and private newly built descending staircase with sitting benchs overlooking Lake Michigan for unbelievable sunset vistas. Large oak, maple, mulberry, and pine trees surround a large fully fenced in yard with a large fire pit sitting circle in yard. A cottage vacation rental for small and large groups alike. Two bedroom rental unit comfortable for up to 6 people. Option of renting both the rental unit/owner's unit for larger family/friend groupings if stay one week. Each cottage unit has it's own bathroom (1), kitchen, dining and living room, and with 2 bedrooms in each. Rental cottage unit also has 2 sofa beds.

Yard with jungle gym swing set /slide for the kids, fire pit circle, picnic table seating, and gas grill.

Enjoy beautiful Michigan sunsets at the end of each day with a glass of wine. Barbeque a fantastic dinner then relax around the fire pit toasting marshmallows or enjoying your favorite beverages by the glow of tiki torches and the moonlit/starlit sky!. You will be making your family memories that will last a lifetime.

This is a great location just a short walk away from the beach. The yard and outdoor patio area really expands your options for gathering space.

Dawn made everything easy for us. We enjoyed the property, especially the backyard! The walk to the beach was just as described. The beach was lovely. We look forward to booking again in the future.

Great location, great stay

This place was perfect for our family. We have a two year old and a three year old and they had a great time. I have fond memories of the street this house is on, as I grew up staying at my grandma’s cottage across the way and my family’s house just down the rd. The house was clean and Dawn is a great host. There was an issue with the washing machine and Dawn got a plumber to fix the issue right away. Just a short walk to the beach, this is the perfect location.

Wonderful stay in a great location!

We had a great stay here, and are already considering a return trip to Union Pier with more family! This place is just as listed, the only note I will make is that the play set is a little worn—mine still enjoyed swinging! The yard is wonderful for kids and dogs; most items provided, including detergent and dish soap. As with any rental, if you are particular or want to be sure to have an item (kitchen) bring it! The only thing I couldn’t find was a can opener, but I may have overlooked it. The beach access and neighborhood, as well as local places recommended were all top notch. Overall a wonderful experience staying here!

Relaxing weekend

It was a relaxing weekend with a cottage. Dawn was helpful but not intrusive at all. The yard was perfect for the dogs and young kids and we enjoyed evening s’mores by the fire pit. It is a short walk to the private beach and was close enough to the more crowded new buffalo scene when that was desired.

Lovely Lakehouse stay!

Fantastic place to enjoy time for relaxation and recreation on lovely Lake Michigan! We loved being inside this cottage and outside in the yard -- both were comfortable and spacious. We had everything we needed to spend time having fun, making memories, and enjoying outdoor beauty. Dawn is a gracious and accommodating host, she is easy to work with and fielded all our inquiries. Definitely recommend and definitely will come back!

Fantastic Cottage with everything we needed.

Our Family including two teenagers and dog spent a long weekend at Dawns super comfortable cottage. The Cottage had plenty of room and very comfortable beds. The Large fenced in Yard was great for us and our dog. The walk to the Beach and and food/ drink was within 5 to 10 minutes. The Beach was beautiful and dog friendly. We really enjoyed our stay and will return again soon! Bill and Kris Bowman

Lovely weekend

Came for my wife’s birthday with our almost 3 yr old. Enjoyed the yard for relaxing mornings with the play set and then new Buffalo beaches were a short drive as well as the private beach walk accessible to. Dawn was communicative prior to check in and responsive during check in. Food in UP easy to pick up as well as go to for a quick stop in. New Buffalo nearby (less than 15min drive) if you need more hustle and bustle. Overall lovely experience - Rob

Great location!

Our first night started off with a wild thunderstorm. We lost power and had a few questions about a beeping sound in the middle of the night because of the storm. Our host was so gracious and worried about us they didn’t even mind the 2 am call and followed up with us the next day. A+ communication. The location to the beach and the beautiful descending stairs down to the beach are a dream. We will definitely be back.

Great location and host

We had a very good time at Dawn's property and she was an excellent host with great communication. Upon arrival there was a minor problem with the toilet and she sent someone over within minutes to fix it. The proximity to the beautiful neighborhood private beach is ideal. The large fenced in yard with firepit, playset for kids, and two grills were perfect for our family and small dog. The only feedback I have is that the kitchen supplies need some updating, as we were unable to use a lot of them due to the condition they were in. And the cleanliness of the in house could be improved upon a bit. That being said, we had a lovely stay at this perfectly located home!

So many other choices...

Our family booked this cottage for a getaway in August of this year and had to leave early due to the conditions of the house. The home had not been cleaned in some time and the owner later indicated she would "deep clean" at the beginning of the season but we had concerns especially with Covid. The place had layers of dust under every bed, couch, table..etc and it was obvious there had been no cleaning recently. Later the owner indicated her regular cleaning lady had cancelled prior to our stay so she cleaned the cottage and assured us the place was fully clean to her. We reluctantly agreed to stay because it was our only vacation and then woke up to a pile of ants all over a sealed and boxed bakery item we had purchased the day prior. The owner said she warned us she lived on a sand dune and there were ants. The ants were all over the coffee maker, the dishwasher, the laundry and made their way into the bathroom. They lasted the entire time we were there and even with us spraying, they kept coming back. As a result, we literally did not use the kitchen once when we were there. We had to eat out every day and ate our breakfast outside. Total mess. We should have left. After a few days, we indicated we wanted to leave early and asked for the cleaning fee to be waived as well as a 50% discount for each night and the deposit to be returned. Despite asking, the owner still charged us for the day we left early since we left after the 11:00 checkout. She ended up refunding us the fee for cleaning and an additional amount but it was a wash because we were still charged for the day we left early. She also eluded to the fact that we used her front yard/fire pit and the beach, so that should have been enough. I would not recommend this property - the area is great, but this property is not as described and is not taken care of. Such a disappointment!

Perfect Off-Season

Property and house are exactly as described. Knotty pine reminded me of grandma’s house. Loved the yard! Just make sure both gates latch securely.

Wonderful Stay

We had a great time staying here (5 adults, one kid, one dog). The cottage was rustic and reminiscent of the one I grew up visiting. It’s a quick 3 min walk to the beach. My son loved the yard and swing set and we loved the huge fire pit and outdoor seating. Everything was clean and well taken care of.

Girls’ trip

We enjoyed staying here. There was lots of room, the kitchen was well supplied, and the outdoor area was wonderful. The walk to the beach was easy. Although there were stairs to the beach, they are built to be easy going up and down. Of course, the beach was perfect!!

An Ideal Beach Vacation home away from home!!!

We had an absolutely fabulous five day vacation in your Cottage at Union Pier. The quiet, brief walk to the beach was filled with excitement and joyous anticipation for the little ones. The yard was a playground, the roasted marshmallows superb. Shopping was close for everything we needed. I would definitely recommend staying at Dawn’s Cottage.

Nice cottage with a great outdoor space and super close to the beach! We would love to come back.

We had a great stay in a quiet neighborhood with our family and pup. Loved that the cottage was a super easy walk to the beach. The yard, fire pit and grills were great. We hope to come back soon.

Absolutely wonderful

We LOVED our stay at Dawn’s. The location was excellent and the private beach was sooo nice, it’s a very short walk and easy to get to, not crowded at all, and very clean. The house was really well appointed and our 2yo loved the playground in the yard. Dawn was also an excellent host, very communicative and helpful throughout the stay. We ended up forgetting our sons favorite stuffed animal and Dawn promptly called us. Recognizing how important this was, she overnighted it back and refused to take reimbursement. We couldn’t believe how helpful and generous she was! When we come back to the area, we will 100% book Dawn’s place again!

Amazing outdoor space

Home was very clean and nice, but the real perk was the backyard. Lovely space with a great outdoor cooking and dining setup. Fenced in yard and play set makes it great for kids and dogs. A beautiful beach is also just a couple of blocks away.

Why they chose this property

It is a traditional cottage, lovely large yard, and the kids love to play in the yard and jungle gym. It is so close to the beach and when accessing Red Arrow Highway to travel to Sawyer for a craft beverage or to New Buffalo to shop and dine. Dogs really enjoy the yard and do not escape as it is completely fenced in. Lastly, the evening hours spent around the fire pit are so special....not to mention the night sky and stars. Fireworks are often lit off on the beach at night so you may get a nice free show!

For those who like, the casinos are close and offer concerts too!
