The best way I can explain how I feel about Little Pine Chalet… is that every single time I arrive, I already know I’m going to have a hard time leaving.
There’s just something about this pocket of Big Bear.
Maybe it’s the neighbors — truly the kindest, most welcoming people. Maybe it’s sitting upstairs on the balcony, overlooking the golf course, watching the light move across the Moonridge hillside. I never fully understood how special that golf course setting was until I experienced it from here. It’s peaceful in a way that surprises you.
And in winter? Throwing my skis over my shoulder and simply walking up to Bear Mountain is a feeling that never gets old. No parking stress. No rush. Just that crisp mountain air and the quiet excitement of the slopes waiting for you.
Then there are the rituals.
Dinner at Captain’s Anchorage — a must every single trip. Go see Lorraine. She’s been there for over 40 years and feels like part of the mountain itself. And mornings at Moonridge Coffee, tucked into the quiet backside patio where you can just sit, breathe, and watch the world move slowly.
This is my favorite part of Big Bear. Moonridge Village.
It’s not loud. It’s not flashy. It’s real.
And once you experience it, you’ll understand why it’s so hard to leave.
Why they chose this property
Why Moonridge Will Always Feel Like Home
I fell in love with Moonridge long before Little Pine Chalet ever existed.
I’ve been skiing Bear Mountain since I was a kid. Big Bear holds so much meaning for me — it’s where winter magic always happened. It was our easy escape. Our snowy playground. Our mountain ritual.
But it was always Moonridge that had my heart.
There’s something about this pocket of Big Bear that feels different. It’s where the locals hang. It’s quieter. More grounded. Bear Mountain has always been the local’s ski resort — unpretentious, authentic, full of energy without the chaos.
Most visitors don’t even realize there’s a golf course tucked right here unless they know Moonridge. That’s part of the charm. It’s a little hidden gem.
And yet, everything is right here:
Golf.
The Alpine Zoo.
Bear City.
Bear Mountain Resort.
Our own cozy Moonridge Village.
The lake just minutes away.
You’re not in the middle of the busy tourist scene — but you’re five minutes from it if you want it. It’s the perfect balance of access and peace.
Moonridge is where you wake up to open skies, walk to coffee, ski all day, and come home to quiet.
It’s where mountain life feels real.
And that’s why Little Pine Chalet is here.

What makes this property unique
Why Little Pine Chalet Is So Unique
Little Pine Chalet isn’t just a cabin—it’s an architectural gem. Designed with a striking mid-century modern chalet structure, the home sits right on the golf course, overlooking the gorgeous Moonridge hillside. The lines, the setting, the open sky—it feels tucked away, yet perfectly placed.
Step outside and you’re within walking distance to Bear Mountain Ski Resort, with the Skyline Trail just across the road for those early morning hikes or golden hour walks. Adventure is quite literally at your doorstep.
What truly sets this location apart is Moonridge itself. We have our own little village—cozy, relaxed, and never overly busy. It’s the quieter side of Big Bear, where locals love to gather, yet you’re only five minutes from the main village if you want more buzz. Everything is close. The lake is just a four-minute drive down Moonridge Boulevard, making sunset strolls and paddle days effortless.
This pocket of Big Bear is a hidden gem—the kind locals try to keep to themselves.
And while you’re here, don’t miss Moonridge Coffee—arguably the cutest coffee house in all of Big Bear Lake. It’s the perfect stop before skiing, hiking, or simply settling in for a slow mountain morning.
Come experience Moonridge the way it was meant to be—peaceful, scenic, and perfectly connected to it all. 🌲✨
