We're Johnny and Stephanie Polasik the Owners of Pelican Vacation Home and Mangers of Snapper Cove..
Cedar Key holds a very special place in our hearts, as we've been a part of this wonderful community for the past decade. Our journey here began as marine biologists, with Stephanie starting her work at the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) building by the Channel 4 bridge in 2015, and myself joining her in 2016. For almost 9 years, we pulled in thousands of nets, and counted and measured hundreds of thousands of fish, in order to help preserve these resources for generations. While working for the FWC we obtained our Master's degrees in Fisheries science. After our time with the FWC, we both took jobs with the University of Florida's Nature Coast Biological Station (NCBS). Our long involvement in the community has allowed us to prosper in our new business, Pelican Vacation Home. The community holds so much history for us—in fact, we even got married on Atsena Otie Key in 2022 with beautiful Cedar Key in the background. Our amazing daughter Eva was born in Gainesville in July 2023. Along with our 2 rescue dogs Goose the GSP, and Honey Bee the pointer mix, Eva has spent some very special years here in Cedar Key.
Together with all our wonderful friends, we've weathered all the horrendous hurricanes since 2016, from Hermine to Helene. We‘ve been here to see this community rally, every.. single.. time! It is truly impressive how everyone comes together and lends a hand to help their neighbors in need.
We want people to experience the same magic, and fall in love with Cedar Key the same way we did, back when we first arrived.
