This cottage has a lot of history and character, as it was originally built in the late 1800s as a small bar for early pioneers in the area. It has since been preserved as a simple, rustic riverside retreat. While it isn’t a modern luxury cabin, many of our guests love its unique charm and peaceful setting. We’re really glad you enjoyed the peaceful creekside setting, the privacy, and the nearby trails (those trout lilies are something special this time of year!). It’s great to hear the hot tub, covered space, and pet-friendly setup added to your stay. We did want to clarify a couple of items you mentioned. While we are pet-friendly, we do charge a one-time pet fee of $50 per stay. The device in the utility room you heard is part of our water purification system, which helps ensure clean, safe water throughout the home. The shower is intentionally left dripping slightly during colder months to help prevent frozen pipes, especially given the age and layout of the home. Regarding the bridge, you’re absolutely right—there is currently no handrail. The original one was unfortunately washed away during Hurricane Helene, and adding a new handrail is already on our list of improvements. We also appreciate your feedback on the sheets, water pressure, and noise—these are all helpful notes as we continue making updates and improvements to the property. This home is definitely one of our more rustic, character-filled properties, and while many guests love that charm, we completely understand it may not be the perfect fit for everyone. If you do decide to visit again, we’d love to help match you with one of our newer cabins that might better suit your preferences.
