Guest access You’ll have access to the surrounding woods to explore and gather wood (for the indoor wood-burning stove). The surrounding neighborhood has three ponds and a lake that you can walk around. Fishing and water activities are only available to property owners at this time. Other things to note Important (Please Read)!
We do NOT accept check-in or check-out on holidays.
Absolutely no open fires are allowed. The area's risk of wildfire is too high. The gas firepit out front is available when there is no fire ban. If there is a fire ban, the firepit will be removed. You will be asked to leave immediately if there is any fire activity.
Pets We will allow pets who qualify. At this time we only host dogs. Please message us before booking for our pet policy to see if your dogs qualify. There is an additional fee for bringing a pet to cover the cleaners’ extra time to keep the space fresh for future guests. Please note the only way to the loft is the spiral staircase which is not safe for pets. When we have our pup there he sleeps in the lower level.
The roads require AWD or 4WD for November through April (however it can snow in October and in May!). The roads are plowed after 6 inches of snow. You do not need a 4WD or AWD in the summer but be aware that the dirt roads in the neighborhood bumpy!
There is no air conditioning unit here. It is very rare in our county to have one installed in a house (even brand-new builds!). The nights are cool in the summer so to cool the house off you can open all the windows and doors, then close them during the day and you stay nice and cool! There are fans provided to help blow the cool air through the cabin.
We are at 9,200 feet in elevation — altitude sickness can occur, but you can do things to prevent it and alleviate symptoms, including: Taking a day to rest when you arrive. Drink extra water and stay well hydrated (avoiding alcohol will help). (The tap water is from natural spring water and is delicious and safe to drink.) Wear sunscreen, even when it is cool or cloudy.
The spiral staircase is narrow and it can be challenging to cart large luggage up and down. We often keep our luggage on the main level. If you have children, please be extra careful around the staircase (it’s tempting to use it as a play gym, but can be very dangerous).
This house is in a neighborhood. While it feels secluded from the front porch, our back-door neighbors are visible from the side and back of the house.

Honesty, one of the best vacation rentals I've stayed at. Everything matched photos and the description on the listing. Beyond that, there's lots of little personal touches that clearly show thought put into it. Would highly recommend a stay here and we'll likely be back in the future.
We recently spent the weekend at this hidden gem of an A-frame to celebrate our anniversary, and we couldn't have asked for a better destination! Between the woodfire furnace, the surrounding forest and walking trails, and of course the outdoor jacuzzi, this rustic cabin exceeded our expectations and made us feel cozy at home. We definitely intend on staying at this A-frame again!

We are so delighted to hear about your stay, Dakota! We hope you all can come back again. Thank you for your review and kind words. It was lovely hosting you!-Marlena
The cabin was even better than the pictures. Everything from the hottub to the fire place, it was immaculate. Played connect 4 and checkers, and if you're there with your spouse, theres a little book of questions that let us get to know each other deeper. The record player works lovely, and the guitar was in tune. You will love your stay here. One thing to note is that the celings are valted, and if your taller youll need to hunch over a little when climbing the spiral stairs.10/10 ill be staying here again!
