'Mile 0' Big Crooked Lake, Sister Lakes

I have been coming to Sister Lakes for many years.The wonderful experiences have always provided a sense of calm and tranquility. When I leave, I am left with the feeling that I can't wait to get back. I have friends that have vacationed with us for a weekend and stayed for weeks. We have countless memories of family and friends learning to swim, drive a boat, pontoon, or Jet Ski, or playing catch in the water diving for a ball off the raft. Cook on an outside gas grill, Weber charcoal kettle or open fire pit. Fish, float around tied to the raft with a cooler, sit in chairs while in the water and get too much sun! There is not a better place to get together, it just doesn't get any better than this!

The fall brings out natures unbelievable colors. The Lake quiets down compared to the summer and the water becomes a mirror of the colors on the trees. You can smell burning leaves as homeowners prepare for the next season of winter which usually turns into Winter Wonderland. Stoke a fire in the fireplace or fire pit, clear some snow and skate on the Lake. Shoot a puck on the virgin ice and if you miss it, skate across the Lake to retrieve. Ice fish, sled, or snowmobile. There are hundreds of miles of trails to enjoy. Then before you know it spring jumps out in vibrant green. The vegetables start growing and the roadside markets sell the freshest available anywhere.

This lake house has it all inside and out! Plenty of room for our family, beautifully decorated, and clean as a whistle! A gorgeous lakefront, with ample network of peers, and large lawn for games. Lots of outdoor seating options too! Can’t wait to come back next year.

Idea environment

This property was ideal. The owner definitely had his guests in mind! Very comfortable. The house was perfect: clean, modern, had all the features necessary for an enjoyable stay. The lake and grounds were wonderful also. Will definitely book again!

Wonderful stay in Sisters Lakes! Great location within walking distance to lots of local spots like Driftwood. Perfect location on the lake with great views from all the windows. Our kids had tons of fun playing in the water and we caught a bunch of small mouth bass fishing off the dock. We ate dinner out on the covered patio most nights and used the fire pit to make s'mores. The house is clean, well decorated without being too much and fully stocked with paper towel and almost everything you need. It was a perfect stay for our family of four. Thank you so much!!

Mile O is a great place to stay!

We had a wonderful experience staying at Mile 0!! We were in the area for a wedding so didn’t have lots of time to enjoy the beautiful lake but appreciated the convenient location, nice neighbors, and comfortable home! Beds were super comfortable, gorgeous views, great communication , spotless condition!!

Lovely home on a beautiful lake

The home is lovely overlooking a lake with a private pier and surrounded by a garden. It brought back so many memories good memories of family vacations in Michigan.

Wedding weekend

We were there for my daughters wedding weekend. With everything happening around the wedding this was an easy, clean, convenient, relaxing place to stay. The owner made the process very easy and the place was very nice!! Pictures make it seem a bit bigger but no complaints! We would definitely go back!

Time to Relax

We loved this property. The house is very clean and well-stocked with basics. The outside is also well-maintained and has plenty of outdoor furniture to relax on the patio, by the fire or on the pier. The kids were able to swim the entire stay with the lake being easily accessible, clean and shallow. The lake was busy during the day and calm and peaceful in the mornings and evenings. We were very happy with our stay and highly recommend!

Amazing lake house!

We’ve stayed at this house on 4 different occasions and it never disappoints. This property is just wonderful! The house is exactly as described and is in a fantastic location. My children (ages 8 and 10) just love coming back here. The owner keeps the house well stocked of everything from toiletries to kitchen supplies to a cabinet full of board games! The location on Big Crooked Lake is great because within minutes, you can be at the Strand, Lakeview Inn, Sister Lakes Brewing Company, or the Driftwood! We can’t wait to stay there again in the future!

Mile 0 is a 10/10!

Mile 0 is super clean, the lake is crystal clear, and every aspect of the place is perfect for the whole family. Our 2 and 5 year old loved the shallow area and spent hours chasing minnows with their nets. Everyone loved jumping off the dock and swimming out the the swim platform. The owner even helped me out when it came to renting a pontoon. He let us dock the rented boat at the property as well. We loved every single minute of our stay and would love to come back again.

Family Vacation

My parents took my bothers and sisters to Sisters Lakes when we were kids kids and we now take our kids for family vacation. We had always stayed on Round Lake, but after one week on Big Crooked we will never stay on a different lake. The water was warm, clear with no sea weed. Mile 0 is built like a tank! We brought our six month year old who still naps several times a day. We had four adults staying in Mile 0 and additional kids and adults at another house close by. Everyone wanted to be at Mile 0 to hang out and talk and the baby never woke up. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. Also, several bottles of H&S water to use was a big plus! No well water coffee!

Cousin’s girl weekend

Enjoyed our stay. It was a beautiful property. Love that stairs to walk in water. Enjoyed that property was fully stocked. Water, paper towels, toilet paper. Kleenex, styrofoam paper plates and cups. Beds were comfortable. Everything was clean. Love the little shampoo and conditioners. Love the hooks everywhere. To hang up towels. Smart thinking on that. Bathtub (Jacuzzi ) was very slippery. It needs anti slip pads. Thank god for safety bars going into it. Shower pole was not connected well to the wall. Love the solo fire pit. I would recommend this place to friends and family. I would stay here again. Thank you.

Another Wonderful Visit

The house is lovely, the location fantastic, and the property manager clear and helpful. They do ask that you try to ignore that neighbors dog, which we did. However, since his owner lets him run freely off leash there was not much to be done. He was super interested in all the children and hung out for stretches of time before his owner finally called him back. He also bit a hole in one of the kids floaties and took the soccer ball, which we later retrieved. It wasn’t a huge deal for us since we all are comfortable with dogs but something to be considered if you’re not. That aside we are excited to plan next years visit, the kids especially love it here and we love all the memories they are making.

Our property provides several different ways you can relax and/or entertain. MAKE SURE TO CONTACT ME FOR A LINK TO VIEW A VIRTUAL TOUR OF THE PROPERTY. The adjacent patio connected to the house is sheltered from the rain and sun; this is where you’ll find one of the cooking grills with a ceiling fan to provide a breeze. Toss the bean bags, play catch, or throw a Frisbee on the front lawn in a shaded area under the trees or closer to the water in the sun. Or walk down a few steps and sit down in the sun garden with a cold beverage and just take everything in, enjoying nature at its best. You can lie on the raft and bob around with the waves, sit on a bench at the end of the pier, maybe drop a line, or lounge in a chaise on the 8'x16' sun deck above the water. Count on some wave sprays coming off the seawall to cool you off as the boats pass by! For some exercise, the path around the lake is just shy of 4 miles. You can make it shorter depending on your preference, but it is a wonderful outdoor workout, casual walk or bike ride. For those looking for water toys, bring your own or there are local rentals available by the day or week. There are 4 augured poles just off the pier to moor your boat or PWF
