About this property
“The Maple Moose”, modern cabin in Quechee, near Woodstock
"The Maple Moose" is a one bedroom house on the edge of Quechee village. about 1/2 mile from Simon Pearce Restaurant and Glass store. The sugar shack inspired design evokes a woodsy chic atmosphere while providing all the luxuries and comforts of an upscale vacation retreat. Check out our 5* reviews on another site.
"The Maple Moose" was designed and built to be a luxury, modern version of the old sugar shacks of Vermont. On entering the house through the porch you will be in the living space with vaulted wood ceiling and rough hewn hemlock posts. There is smart TV for streaming your favorite Netflix or Prime shows (no cable) and a Bose stereo sound system. If you'd rather make your own music, we include a rather nice acoustic guitar. The large sliders open on to a well-proportioned deck with outdoor dining and casual chairs for enjoying morning coffee. The kitchen features luxury stainless appliances as well as a Nespresso coffee maker, island and dining table. Through the large wooden barn door is the bedroom with en-suite bathroom. There is ample closet and storage space. The bathroom has a glass door shower and water-sense rain shower.
Outside there is plenty of parking space. Trees and shrubs surround the house, giving the impression of being in a secluded wood while at the same time being within walking distance of some of the most popular Vermont attractions.
There is air conditioning and, in winter an electric log fireplace.
A little way from the deck is a fire-pit for those frosty fall evenings.
Another addition is "The Smiling Moose Cocktail Lounge & Bar". We installed a shed at the top of our property and you can access this by the steps and path (at your own risk). There is a deck, some chairs, coffee table and other nick-nacks to make this a quiet wooded retreat. It's a special pace for a morning coffee of an evening cocktail - BYOB!
We welcome one 'best dog in the world' for a pet fee of $50. Please don't allow pooch on the furniture or the bed and don't leave them alone in the house. If your furry friend sheds, please clear up any excess dog hair. Failure to do this will result in an extra cleaning charge. Please also note that we do not allow the charging of electric vehicles. There are EV charging stations at the Quechee Club and Jake's Market on rt4.
"The Maple Moose" is located in the Quechee village. We are very close to Simon Pearce Restaurant and Glass store. And it's about 1 mile to the Quechee Gorge. In addition, there are many very good local restaurants and coffee shops.
Whenever you visit Vermont, you will find Quechee is very convenient for recreational activities and has a comfortable feeling of luxury and seclusion. Quechee is only a few hours from Boston and New York. The village is centrally located between the beautiful towns of Woodstock, Vermont and Hanover, New Hampshire, the home of Dartmouth College. These two towns offer the quaintness of lovely New England villages as well as cultural sophistication. Galleries, unique shops, museums and a variety of excellent dining are available in both towns. Killington is approximately 35 minutes away and has world class skiing, mountain biking and other year round activities.
The Quechee Club: 1/2 mile
Saskadena Six skiing: 9 miles
Woodstock: 7 miles

About the host
Hosted by Anthony Laker

Anthony is a retired professor and Jules was a goldsmith/lecturer/eco-house builder, a real renaissance person.
We are both British/American and have lived for many years in the USA, firstly in Ocracoke, North Carolina then in Colorado and now in Vermont.
We love to travel and see as much of the world as we can. We particularly love beaches and mountains, as did our wonderful chocolate lab, Khumbu!
Quechee has become our home because of the wonderful people, fabulous amenities and a wide range of outdoor activities.
Come and enjoy our beautiful Vermont home!
