Book for Summer!! Lake Austin Waterfront, Family and Dog Friendly!

Rejuvenate and reconnect with family and friends at our Historic, rustic family lake retreat. Perfect for R & R or lake activities on constant level Lake Austin. 100 feet of lakefront and a gently sloping grass lawn with 50 year old pecan trees planted by our grandfather, dock for your ski/fishing boat with public ramp 1 block away , use our kayaks and life jackets to explore wildlife preserve (Balcones Canyonlands Preserve) across the lake. Plenty of room for multi family get togethers. The kitchen is fully stocked and ready for that Holiday meal preparation and clean up is easy with the dishwasher!

There's plenty of outdoor space, grill and cast iron smoker for family cookouts, boat dock, kayaks, horseshoe pit and large patio seating with Firepit!! Inside there is a wonderful fireplace with plenty of firewood included. Lake Austin Spa Resort is within walking distance, too!

The only thing we ask is that noise be kept low after 10pm.. We love our neighbors and want them to love you too!!

Lakeside RE-LAX and Rest!

Absolutely a perfect place for family and friends to gather rest under the gorgeous pecan trees and relax on the lake. We only left to get groceries once you check in kick off your shoes and soak the beauty of the scenery. The deer running around give an added bonus!

This property was a great fit for our group, in a great location, and Ann was a great host. She was excellent at communicating, responding to questions/requests, and doing her best to address any questions we had. Being lakefront on Lake Austin doesn't get any better. Would definitely stay again!

Plenty of beds and space for a large group. The backyard is great for outdoor lawn games and activities in the river.

PERFECT location

If you love Lake Austin like we do then you're willing to overlook a lot for location, location, location. :) The house itself is super dated and not for someone who needs the newest and best.. but if you want prime location then that's what you're paying for. The house manager was friendly and helpful with the couple of questions I had and the neighbors were very sweet.. honestly it had everything we needed and even more (cornhole, floats, blenders, spices, etc..)

Awesome location, but definitely rustic

As advertised, the land and view are beautifully serene. The lawn, shaded by tall pecan trees, gently slopes down to the lake, with the view looking across to the Balconies Canyonland Preserve. The shade and the breeze (and the water!) make for a very comfortable setting even in the 100 degree heat of the Austin summer. The house itself, however, is more of a camp than a retreat. "Rustic" in this case means unkept. It does not appear to have been upgraded since the 80's with respect to infrastructure (lighting, electrical, a/c, windows, weatherproofing), as well as furniture, beds, and kitchen. The place also struggles with keeping clean. Cobwebs, dust, and insects were a constant. The driveway is need of repair at the street...my car hit bottom a couple of times. That being said, we've stayed here the past two years for extended stays. We overlooked the subpar housing issues because we wanted easy access to the lake and a relaxing, inexpensive escape for our family. So, if that's your goal, this is definitely the place. If you want luxury, Austin Day Spa is down the street.

This is our second time staying here. The property is in a great location on the lake, lots of trees for shade. Nice yard for kids to play.

COVID relief

First time visiting my son and his family in over a year, we booked this property for a much needed getaway. House is older, cozy and furnished like a family vacation house, not fancy but comfortable. The setting is spectacular, gazing out across Lake Austin to beautiful unspoiled forest. The boys enjoyed picking up pecans from the ground, kayaking, fishing (no fish were caught), making smores in the firepit and playing games. A wonderful respite!

Lake House

This house is a great place to bring your family for a summer vacation... We were able to tie up our boat and jet skis overnight. There’s a neighborhood boat ramp just a couple football fields away and it only took about 20 minutes to get to ski shores. Water was glassy in the morning and the view from the house is awesome. We will definitely be back!

In front of the Colorado River , set up Was perfect had all the commodities to Enjoy with family and little ones . Having kayak and tubes , and Toys for kids was a plus . I highly recommend the place

A wonderful and special place to create sweet memories! The house was extremely clean! The yard was awesome to enjoy hanging out on Lake Austin. My family and our dogs LOVED it!!! Could not beat it ! Truly, a very special place! We would definitely love to return!!!

Great for family vacation

This is our fourth time renting this house and we love it. The yard and the trees are wonderful, which is where we spend most of our time. Our only suggestion would be to pave the road all the way to the house, the sand right by the entry door is pretty messy.

Good times

Awesome land and lake access. Our group enjoyed kayaking and yard games provided by the owner. The kayaks had small leaks but we covered them with duct tape and they worked great. The interior of the house felt more like a camp and could use some new finishes, but it is spacious and has plenty of beds. Overall, we had a nice time and enjoyed our stay.

Awesome Lake House!

We spent a week on this beautiful Lake Austin property. It’s a perfect lakefront backyard setup with the fire pit including room for a nice game of kids whiffle ball. The property caretaker, Ken and manager, Ann, were awesome to deal with. We will be back.

We, kids and adults had a great time. Yard easy to get to lake and dock. Kitchen well equipped. Played games, played in yard, played in water. Fun was had by all. Grilled out every night on real nice grill. Loved it. Thanks so much.

Home currently owned by 3 siblings who grew up coming to the Austin Lake House on a regular basis. We have now raised our own kids with regular visits - It never gets old!!

Why they chose this property

Our Grandfather, who was comptroller for Texas Parks and Wildlife, bought the property in the 40's, knowing that a Federal Wildlife Preserve was directly across the lake. He and my father built the origional home in the early 50's. The house has been expanded twice and recently updated for comfort and convenience.

What makes this property unique

We love our family lake house and want to share it with you. We have had many family holidays and events on this picturesque property.The front lawn is expansive and has seen volleyball, frisbee, softball, and flag football games. The layout of sunporch and patio are conducive to outdoor BBQs and outdoor living. Two different sitting area with cable TV and DVD players allow 2 separate groups (kids/adults) to do their 'own thing'. Rooms are spread out so noise and privacy usually not an issue.
