About this property

Pecos - Santa Fe New Mexico 100 yr old Adobe Pecos river fishing access private

Welcome to our 100 years old adobe house fully remodeled located at 78 North Main Street, Pecos NM 87552. This adobe house ("casa de campo"), has 2 bedrooms and 2 baths, one of the bedroom is in suite, a kitchen with new appliances, with 4 heating/cooling units with a solar panel system. The house has beautiful natural light including 5 skylights. The master bedroom has a queen bed, bathroom with shower, nightstands, a dresser, a table with chair. The second bedroom in the back of the house has a queen size bed, a dresser, a nightstand, and sitting area and an exit to the patio/deck.
There is a Santa Fe style dining room, large screen TV. There is Wi-Fi and Apple TV unit (network: LobitoyLaika, Password: lobito87552)
This house has large backyard with a garden, portable liquid propane grill, patio table with umbrella and 4 chairs, covered swing chair and soon a traditional New Mexico "horno" or outdoor oven. There are some big shade trees and fruit trees. The landscaping is in progress. Plans are to replace the entrance fence and build a garage out of the toolshed that is locked.
For the fishing enthusiasts, the Pecos river, running the whole year, is located only a waking distance, about a ¼ mile away from the house and it is also accessed from the backyard through a gate, separated only by a regenerative farming community garden. We have the authorization from the owner of this parcel, to walk through to access the river for fishing or picnicking.
In addition, during the summer time (May to September) water flows in an "acequia" or irrigation ditch.
The most attractive view is the greenery during summer, the mountains around Pecos and nice flowing water on the river.
Our house is located at the "center" of Pecos, and within a mile distance from a gas station, a couple of convenient stores, old houses, high school, old Catholic church, a couple of restaurants, a medical clinic, a fast food places, a veterinarian clinic, a Benedictine Monastery, a lake for fishing recreation, Lisboa fish hatchery and most importantly the legendary Pecos wilderness and wild life.
The city of Santa Fe is located at about 30 minutes with a variety of attractions, restaurants, shops and cultural life. The Santa Fe suburb of El Dorado is located at about 20 minutes away and Las Vegas New Mexico at about 1 hour north. We recommend shopping in Santa Fe as there are no full service grocery stores in Pecos.

I am a retired scientist PhD in Physics, and I am originally from Chile. I have a number of interest: wine-making, running, the outdoors, Human Rights and Geopolitics. My wife Frances is a Family Medicine Physician practicing in Santa Fe and she enjoys gardening, the outdoors, nature and traveling.

Why they chose this property

We choose Pecos for our home, and this property specifically is because the Pecos river runs a cow-pasture walk down to the river bank. Our property has a historical acequia from the Pecos to irrigate our gardens, meadows and water to the peoples of this very special valley. It is home to legendary river fishing. So much history that stretches back to centuries to the peoples of north America. A cultural and historical landmark of human history so near to Santa Fe with tricultural starting with native Americans, more recent Spanish/Mexican/Territorial/State historical. Everything's is much greener here and with the free flowing Pecos river you will sleep like a baby. This is small town that has friendly traditions.

What makes this property unique

Fishing Pecos river. Picnic riverside. Enjoy vegetable garden. Enjoy Horno. We decided to remodel this old adobe house to eventually retire to be near the Pecos river. We have a vegetable garden watered with Pecos river water. This house has double adobe which we upgraded to a modern home. The house is safe for pet to run around, the periphery is fenced. The acequia running water in the back of the property is also safe. You can walk through the back across the acequia and in a short distance to get and enjoy the Pecos river view.
