About this property
NEW: Modern Comfort Meets Historic Charm in Alaskan Railroad House
Step Into a Piece of Alaskan History—Historic Railroad Home with Modern Comfort & Space for All
Originally built in the 1950s as an Alaska Railroad Section House, this unique home was relocated to Anchorage’s desirable hillside neighborhood in the ‘60s—and has since been thoughtfully transformed into a stylish, spacious retreat.
Industrial-chic design touches, like exposed steel beams and original copper piping repurposed as a kitchen footrest, celebrate the home’s rich heritage. The open-concept great room invites relaxation with a fireplace, wet bar, coffee station, 75" smart TV, and plenty of seating—perfect for gathering after a day of adventure.
Large windows flood the home with natural light, while blackout shades ensure peaceful sleep during Alaska’s endless summer days. Need a quieter space? The separate media room, complete with a 55" smart TV and sleeper sofa, is ideal for movie nights or extra guests.
Enjoy meals together in the full dining room or fire up the BBQ outside. The kitchen is fully equipped, and an extra fridge/freezer in the utility room makes it easy to store your fresh catch or groceries. There's also a laundry room, workspace, fenced yard, and garage with a long driveway—perfect for groups or families.
Upstairs, the master suite offers a king bed, Jacuzzi tub, and double shower for a spa-like experience. Three additional queen bedrooms share a full bath stocked with essentials.
Set in a peaceful, tree-lined neighborhood just 15 minutes from downtown Anchorage, you’ll be close to hiking and biking trails, local restaurants, and everything the city has to offer.
We’re nearby and happy to help with any special requests. Come experience a one-of-a-kind Alaskan stay—rooted in history, and designed for comfort.

About the host
Hosted by Rowena

Why they chose this property
It is a quiet mid-hillside home on the south side of Anchorage. Freshly remodeled with easy access to a vast number of hiking and outdoor activities in the Anchorage area. We look forward to hosting you at your home in Alaska.
What makes this property unique
Built in the 50s as a home for the workers building the Alaska Railroad, the home was moved to this neighborhood in 1965. That adds a little bit of history, a little bit of quirky, and a lot of space in a nice, quiet owner-occupied neighborhood that's close to everything families and large groups want from a home away from home.
