Jackalope Hideout is a lovingly remodeled cabin with vintage touches. It is located in a peaceful neighborhood in Big Bear City.
The living room is equipped with a smart tv, DVD player, tons of DVDs, and a Bluetooth sound bar for an enhanced listening experience. If reading is more your speed our shelves are filled with a variety of books to enjoy. We also have a variety of games to play. The wood burning fireplace adds a toasty ambiance to the living room. We do not provide wood but you can purchase it at any of the local markets. The living room also features a spacious desk with an external monitor should you need to work while on vacation. The couch pulls out into a queen-sized bed.
Through the sliding glass door you’ll step out into the fully fenced back yard. Here you will find a propane barbecue ready to grill up the catch of the day or some sweet corn from the seasonal Farmer’s Market. There is a dining table with ample setting for four, along with a hammock strung between 2 of the property's massive pine trees. Turn on the propane fire pit and sink down into an Adirondack chair after a day on the mountain.
Back in the kitchen you will find plenty of cooking supplies (pots, pans, spatulas, baking sheets, knives, spices, oil, coffee, sugar, etc.) to whip up a delicious meal. An air fryer, coffee maker and rice maker are also provided. When you’re done cooking, take advantage of the small yet powerful dishwasher (a rarity in small cabins). We ask that guests please clean up any used dishes/appliances after cooking.
The dining nook has a small, expandable table. This is also a great space to play any of the games we provide.
The cozy bedroom features a Lull mattress with foam topper and plenty of blankets and pillows, making it the perfect getaway for a couple. The bathroom is located off the bedroom so please keep that in mind if you plan on sharing the space among 3. We also provide towels, a hair dryer and miscellaneous toiletries.
The front yard has space for up to 3 cars but can also accommodate a small (under 25 ft) boat/trailer.
Pet Policy- While we welcome furry friends (we have a dog of our own, so if you are allergic to pets this may not be the cabin for you) we kindly ask that if you plan on bringing more than one dog to please notify us before booking, and we will evaluate on a case-by-case basis. We provide pet dishes, a small supply of dog toys and treats! PLEASE keep your furry friend off of the sofa, blankets, and bedding. We do provide a dog bed (with heat!) for them to hang out on. Pets must not be left alone in the cabin or backyard. This request is for both the safety of your pet and local wildlife.

*****During winter months (November-April) please be aware that drivers are required to carry chains in their vehicles. While chain restrictions are not always in place, it is best to check local weather conditions prior to traveling into the mountains. I recommend socalmountains dot com for the most up to date info.

We enjoyed the quaint Jackalope Hideout. It is located in a quiet area, and has all the amenities we could ask for. This was an enjoyable stay and the host communicated well prior to us staying, and during our stay to see if there was anything we needed.

Why they chose this property
The neighborhood is quiet and safe. It is a short drive into town, ski resorts, and local hiking trails. The nearby dog park/disc golf course is a favorite of ours.
What makes this property unique
We did most of the remodeling to the cabin ourselves and live in it part-time. Our dog loves the cabin too, which is why we made it pet friendly. The cabin has dog toys and a heated dog bed for guests to use with their own furry companions. We put lots of love and hard work into the complete overhaul of the cabin, inside and out. Some of the furniture we fabricated ourselves, while other pieces cherished items we picked up over the years. We hope guests are able to relax and unwind in our special space. The kitchen, although small, is mighty: fully loaded with a 4 burner range, single basin sink, dishwasher, rice cooker, coffeemaker, air fryer and all the pots and pans.
