About this property

Cozy and charming. Your home away from home in the heart of Viroqua.

As your Viroqua home away from home the Little Yellow House offers a central location and homey charm. The 10 ft ceilings, wood floors, and many windows make its 600 sq ft feel light and spacious. Whether you are fly fishing, taking in a dinner and a show at the Historic Temple Theater, doing a weekend class, or having a relaxing weekend walking around downtown Viroqua and the farmers market…the sweetest of home bases is the Little Yellow House.

A dine-in kitchen has a wooden table under large South facing windows, where you can work, play a game or sip your morning cup of coffee. There are new appliances, a vintage farmhouse sink, a butcher block countertop and a fully stocked kitchen. Please let us know if you are missing something you need and we will bring it right over.
The bathroom, while tiny, is bright and sunny with a low entry shower. There is no tub.
The bedroom has a closet and dresser, and queen sized bed, with extra blankets. There are also black out shades for your dark sleeping enjoyment.
The living room has a cozy sectional for you to curl up in the corner of with your favorite book, or borrow one from our collection.
The second sleeping space is a pull out couch in the adjacent den. Perhaps this is obvious: we have space for 4 people-but this is only if they are able to sleep in a bed together. We do not have the space or the linens for people to not sleep in the beds. Please make sure if you are three or four adults you do not need individual sleeping spaces.
There is a covered front porch with a seating area which is perfect for relaxing and watching the world go by.

The host was very accomodating and everything was as described including a few thoughtful extras. The interior is charming and restored to a high level of detail. With no television provided, we were able to truly disconnect during our stay. The property is nestled in an up and coming historic neighborhood that was quiet and located near everything!

Great little place to stay and relax.

It was really nice to stay at the little yellow house and relax after being out, hunting in the cold the entire day. The host is extremely responsive, friendly, and accommodating. We would love to stay again in the future if available.

Our stay at the Little Yellow House was perfection. The location is great: totally walkable to town. The house is adorable and comfortable and clean: fresh modern updates mixed in with original farmhouse charm, and the house was spotless, to boot. We enjoyed the hospitality, from fresh flowers to coffee pods and half/half to plentiful bed pillows. Amy, the host, was sweet and responsive and beyond helpful in getting us set up for a late arrival and in giving us local tips and suggestions. We cannot wait to return! Thank you, Amy!

Very cute, clean home. Spacious for 2 adults. Walkable to Viroqua shopping and restaurants. Great base for road biking in the driftless region. No TV - enjoy the peace.

Weekend in Viroqua

The house was lovely and very clean, cozy, and welcoming. The high ceilings, woodwork and thoughtful design of the space made us feel inspired just by taking them in. We especially appreciated that the space was very clean but without the smell of artificial fragrances. Viroqua is a friendly community and a nice place to visit.

Cozy, plenty of room, great communication!

Busy part of town BUT I slept like a rock I. Their super comfy bed!!!Was worried it was going to be noisy due to neighbors being so close - absolutely NO noise after 9:00pm Owners made sure I got in and didn't need anything and offered I could contact them if need be. They left super good instructions on how to enter the property - I had zero questions! I would that there again in a heartbeat!!! Great place for a great price!

This is my first time booking a VRBO through Expedia. At first i had trouble accessing host communication through Expedia and then finally got logged in to my VRBO app and it all worked great. Hosts let me know when the house was ready early and about events in town! Lovely!

Amazing house in a great area

We are so glad to have stayed here. It is an adorable house perfect for the two of us and would work for a family of four or potentially two couples if you are willing to share a small bathroom. The owners have done a wonderful renovation and we loved the woodwork, art, refinished wood floors, homey touches, and comfort of it. It is in a great neighborhood and close to everything in town. We love to go to Driftless Cafe, VIVA and Wonderstate coffee when we are in the area, and they did not disappoint. Communication with the owner was great and very fast. It has a comfy bed with nice sheets and while we didn't get to use it because of weather, it has a cute seating area on the porch. Wifi worked well and they have plug outlets near the bed for devices. All the basics are ready for you to enjoy a fabulous stay at this VRBO. We would love to stay there again when we are in the area.

We are artists who grew up in Madison and South Minneapolis. We moved here 20 years ago to raise our family and have a quieter life.

Why they chose this property

We have owned The Little Yellow House for 13 years. We fell in love with it when we bought it, and have had wonderful renters for many years. We recently did a major overhaul of it and furnished it with a mix of our parents and grandparents beautiful things as well as our artwork. Both things we have made and special pieces from our collection.
We love this location, central but also quiet, next to the beautiful historic tobacco buildings.
