About this property
Serene countryside farm stay. Mother-in-law suite btw TC & Sleeping Bear Dunes
Enjoy a spacious apartment on a 30 acre hobby farm in Lake Ann! Featuring 2 large (queen) bedrooms, full kitchen, living area with twin sleeper couch, bathroom with shower and tub, and speedy wifi! A loaf of homemade sourdough bread is included with every stay as well as eggs from our chickens.
Located between Traverse City and Lake Michigan-<25 min to downtown TC, Sleeping Bear Dunes or Crystal Mountain!
The apartment is attached to our home, but totally private (garage is only shared wall). Guests have private entrance and plenty of parking.
Our property is 30 acres of fields and forest, bordered by Mistwood Golf Course on two sides. Whether you just need a quiet place to rest after your day trip adventures, or you plan to hang here for the majority of your stay, the apartment comes equipped with all the basics for a relaxing getaway.
New in 2024: Stay and play! Cart fees at Mistwood Golf Course are waived for our guests, up to 4 players.
Each 11'x16' bedroom has a queen size bed, overhead fans, and (2) bedside table lamps with built-in wireless charging stations as well as usb ports for additional items. Plenty of room for a pack and play or air mattress on the floor in either bedroom. There are also extra pillows and blankets in each closet.
With natural light pouring in from all sides and an extra high ceiling, the living room has a bright, airy feel. The couch flattens to a twin bed, if need be. The smart TV is connected to wifi and has all the standard apps downloaded (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, HBO, etc.) so guests can log into their own account(s) and stream away. Or, there is a DVD player and some classics on hand if you'd prefer to stay offline. There are various board games, playing cards and other odds and ends in the yellow cabinet in the foyer.
In the kitchen there is a full size fridge, oven/stove, microwave and plenty of cabinet space to store any dry goods. A loaf of homemade sourdough bread is included with every stay, as well as eggs from our happy hens. The kitchen is stocked with all of the cooking and dining utensils, pots/pans, bakeware, seasonings you could need to prepare meals. There are also paper plates on hand if you'd prefer to avoid dishes on vacation. For coffee/tea we have a few modes available: Single cup Keurig, French Press and a pour over carafe. Some K-cups and tea varieties will be available, but please bring your own coffee beans (we have a grinder)/additional K-cups if you have special preferences.
Enjoy beautiful sunsets and the starry night sky from the comfort of the West-facing patio, or take a 15 minute drive over to Esch Road Beach (recently repaved, yay!) for the full Lake Michigan sunset experience! You can even pick up some firewood on the drive over and have a beach bonfire.
Guests have their own paved patio area with seating immediately outside of the apartment (in summer months, patio furniture is tucked away from November-May) and can use the lawn between the forest and the fenced pastures for recreation. Please do not enter in any closed/fenced areas. There is a picnic table near the fire pit for outdoor dining/hanging out. Let us know if you'd like to use the charcoal grill (BYO charcoal) during your stay and we will set it out for you, otherwise we keep it stored away and protected from the elements.
Text us if you need anything, otherwise we'll give you your space!
***AWD is necessary Nov-April. ***
We find that there is decent 4G cell reception with Verizon in our area, but have heard it can be hit or miss with other cell carriers. That said, we do have wifi and you should be able to use your devices over the wifi network regardless
There is no gas station in Lake Ann. Make sure you fuel up when you're out and about! The closest gas stations to us are Cherryland Grocery (just a convenience store and gas station, not a full grocery) on US-31 and the Mobil (aka Grumpy's) across from The Hayloft to our north on M-72.
We have 2 cats that live in the barn across from our house. You might see them hunting in the fields or lounging in the sun in front of their barn.
We also have 2 dogs that you may notice in our fenced yard from time to time. Our dogs will be kept in our house/yard/on leash at all times during your stay
We also have a flock of laying hens and will provide fresh eggs as they are available! A dozen fresh eggs will be included with each stay, as laying allows

About the host
Hosted by Molly Morris
We are Ryan and Molly, we both grew up downstate in the suburbs of Detroit and always dreamed of living full time in Northern Michigan. A few years ago, our dream came true when we found our property and made the move to beautiful Lake Ann. We love being right on the golf course and still so close to Lake Michigan. Some of our hobbies are: gardening, baking, beekeeping, golf, curling, skiing Crystal Mountain, hiking local trails and enjoying sunsets at the beach. We love being able to host families on our hobby farm and share the beauty and magic of Northern Michigan with our guests.
Why they chose this property
We love the peaceful, serene beauty of our community. You'll often see wildlife, like deer, bald eagles, bluebirds, or our own flock of laying hens roaming in the "backyard."
What makes this property unique
The location of our property can't be beat. We're situated right where Benzie, Leelanau and Grand Traverse Counties meet--which makes for the perfect jumping off point for adventure in any direction. You can easily head 5, 10 or 30 minutes in any direction and find beautiful hiking trails, boating, wineries, shopping, dining, beaches, stunning views of Lake Michigan along the National Lakeshore.
