About this property
Rock Ridge Base Camp @ DuPont - 6.5 acres, sleeps 5, ride from the house
Ride into DuPont from this chill house on 6.5 acres.
This is the perfect spot for those who want to bike & hike at DuPont. A great quiet location on the NE edge of DuPont at the base of Rocky Ridge. You can jump directly onto the trails & there is easy access to Brevard, Pisgah, & H-ville.
This modest house is well-kept and comfortable. It has 2 regular bedrooms and one small sleep room. The kitchen is nicely renovated and ready for cooking. There are 2 covered decks (the larger one is a main 'hang out' area!). The garage gives you a place to store or work on your bikes. We have a fire ring, a gas grill, & a wood-burning stove, all backed up by central HVAC along with a backup generator.
The house sleeps 5 comfortably, with:
A master bedroom with a king-sized bed, bathroom, and a covered deck; a bedroom with 2 twin beds; one small bedroom with a twin bed.
The small bedroom was a very large walk-in closet for the master bedroom which we converted to a comfortable sleep room. It is paneled in cedar & has recessed lights. A door to the hall gives easy access to the hall bathroom. The original louvered 'pocket door' between this small bedroom and the master bedroom provides some privacy. It's fine for adults. It is particularly good for families when younger children prefer to sleep close to their parents during a family trip.
The living room and dining area blend with an open flow to the remodeled kitchen. The living room has a comfortable couch and a reading chair sitting in front of a wood-burning stove. The dining table has space for 6 and is also a good place to gather (a good spot for games).
The updated kitchen is great, with plenty of counter & cabinet space and a gas stove. We have several well-seasoned cast iron skillets and good-quality stainless steel pots, a coffee bean grinder, a standard coffee machine, and a French press. The kitchen is well-equipped.
The "best room in the house" may be the large covered deck off the Living/Dining room area with a table for outdoor dining and a mid-sized gas grill. As long as the temperature is good, this is likely where you'll enjoy most meals and gather.
The separate garage is ideal for storing bikes. There is a bike stand, a workbench, and a compressor. Please bring your own bike tools.
Please note - we are constantly making both big & small improvements on the house. We installed new floors and painted the exterior recently. You’ll see the new Forest Green color and the new wide plank floors in some pictures here.
Feel free to send questions - we are happy to clarify anything. We enjoy the personal engagement aspect of hosting and enjoy getting to know our guests, even though we will not meet in person (you will have the place to yourself!).

About the host
Hosted by David Kaminski

I lived in the Hendersonville and Asheville area for many years and I have long-term ties to the area. I often returned to the area with my wife and 2 kids to ride, including at DuPont. We were very pleased to find this wonderful modest house in such a great location.
When not at Rock Ridge Base Camp, my wife, Lynn, and I live in Carrboro, NC with our two kids and dog.

Why they chose this property
Lynn and I started looking for a place near DuPont a few years before finding this house. When we found this property, we knew it was the right one for us. The location was perfect (ride straight from the house, avoid any crowds, and still have easy access to Brevard or Hendersonville), the size was right (6.5 acres, medium-sized house), and we liked the modest nature of it (we weren't looking for a showplace). We hope you appreciate this balance of qualities, too.
What makes this property unique
The balance of the location next to DuPont, the privacy on 6.5 acres, and the modest, but well-kept flavor of the house, makes RRBC an awesome place to stay and a very good value.
For bikers, having the detached garage to work on or store bikes is a big plus. The ability to ride right from the house is really great!
