About this property
Cozy 2 bedroom 3 bathroom retreat
The Sandstone House is a 2 bedroom, 3 full bath oceanside home located on the tranquil shores of Kennebec Bay in Roque Bluffs, Maine.
This delightful getaway is bright and open with beautiful hand-crafted wood interior throughout. One of the great features of this house is its sunroom that drinks in the morning and mid-afternoon light, making it a warm cozy sanctuary to relax and read in.
This house has a wonderful waterside deck that comes complete with picnic table, gas grill and Adirondack lounge chairs.
The house offers a master bedroom with queen size bed (Sleep Number), nearby full bath and comfortable sitting room with Smart TV with Roku and waterside balcony. Its main level guest room also offers a queen size bed and nearby full bath.
It also offers a private water and shorefront access and a pulley mooring system for a kayak. The seashore here is a terrific location for beachcombing and tide pool exploring as well as a put in and take out spot for sea kayaking.
This house can accommodate 5 guests with queen size beds in its main bedroom and guest bedroom, and a futon in the sitting room. The great room features an open kitchen with breakfast bar, a light and airy dining area with granite topped table and a bright relaxing living room with French doors that open to the oceanside deck.
The house also comes with washer, dryer, dishwasher, WiFi Internet access, Smart TV, phone, ping pong table, all linens, cookware and place settings. It has everything you need, just bring yourself, clothes and food. For vacationers who love to travel with their favorite family companion, this house welcomes dogs (limit 2).
A newly added family space in the basement offers a ping pong table for your nightly entertainment. It also provides a full bathroom with toilet, sink and shower stall.
For guests who love the wild environment of the sea and all of nature’s wildlife, this house’s location is centered in an area that abounds with opportunities to hike, bike, kayak and canoe, to take in both the coastal and inland undeveloped settings.
In the summer you can embark on a fishing trip right from the house for Atlantic mackerel in the bay by boat. If you’re a kayaker the shoreline in front of the house is a perfect location to start off your ocean excursion to explore the bay and surrounding islands. Wonderful area guided sea kayak tours are available or the local kayaking company will deliver rental kayaks right to your door.
Vacationers can hop aboard the Barbara Frost out of Cutler to view the Atlantic Puffins on Machias Seal Island or take simple scenic bay tours to enjoy the diverse wildlife and seascapes. Guests can also travel to Eastport for schooner cruises and spectacular whale watching trips as well as deep sea fishing.
This area also abounds with terrific coastal hiking trails and historic sites. Hikers can pursue the beautiful trails at the Roque Bluffs State Park, the Nature Conservancy trails on Great Wass Island or the fantastic trails at Western Head and the Bold Coast in Cutler.
Vacationers will also be fascinated by the Indian petrogyphs at Holmes Point on Hog Island, as well as viewing the site of the first battle of the Revolutionary War off Fort O’Brien in Machiasport.
The area also has wonderful inland fishing opportunities for smallmouth bass and brook trout in the Machias River. If you’re interested in experiencing the nature side of Maine, this area has it!
